QOD my favorite class was what we called Sh!ts and Sheds. It was a farm efficency and design class. Basically our end of semester project was to design our ideal farm.

Morning folks!

So back to the no sleep thing. Last 3 or 4 nights I have maybe gotten 3 hours of sleep. This is really not fun! Oh and the screws keep turning at work. Seems the final pieces of this huge project I have been slaving over for almost a year won't get finished, at least by me. Should have had my final samples in hand yesterday ( 5 months after they were promised to me) but was told nope, won't be shipped till Nov 22. Ok then, have fun cause I am washing my hands of it then. I will be 37+ weeks pregnant and in no mood to stress to get it all completed before baby arrives. Oh well!!

QOD: This is a hard question for me. I had electives that were fun because they were just fun, like Environmental Design Analysis where we basically looked at slides of really cool buildings and open space areas. Then classes that were related to my major that I just really loved like my Seminar in Biotech because we got to read articles and debate topics. We also had some people in my department that were pretty well known in their specialties and being the geek that I am, I found it so cool to be taking a class with them!! Sadly, since I was a youngin' I never got to take the coolest class ever, the wine making/tasting class. I wasn't 21 yet when it was offered!

Hey, guys...I remembered last night that it's Voo's birthday today (or tomorrow)??. Just FYI--a good thought to him or his family, eh? I have to say that I still "see" him around from time to time. This year, right before TCM there was a girl walking ahead of us in a cheetah skirt. On my route during a hard run this summer, a guy with long dreadlocks that I had never seen before or since. I like to think those things aren't coincidental...

Fave class? I had one in child psychology that I LOVED because we not only were taught concepts, but got to play with kid clients. It was great fun to get to hang on the floor and play with toys for an hour a day. I also loved my instructor for my sign lang classes. Tough teacher, but really funny guy and I learned a TON.

litch, how is the toe feeling? great pics of your kids, btw.

also add me to those who are bummed about the currrent running situation. i struggle to find energy to get out.. and don't see how things will change anytime soon which sucks because running is a stress relief for me. its better on the weekends when DH is around to help but we usually end up spending our time doing other stuff. hmph. its just a phase, i keep telling myself, and there will be another time in my life to run.

Moon, loved your Warrior photos!

Missy, your baby girl is SO GORGEOUS! Love seeing pics of her. LOVE.

Pumpkin lovers - I made the Pumpkin Spice Swirl Cream of Wheat for breakfast today and it is dee-lish! I included the optional pecans on top and really, you must add those. It serves two so i put half in the fridge for tomorrow, we'll see how well it keeps. Also made beef stew in the crock pot so after spin class I'll have a yummy dinner to come home to.

QOD: Foods. 'Nuff said. I started off majoring in Home Economics Education, and I kinda wish I'd stuck with that. I just love food. Preparing it, cooking it, buying it, eating it, researching it. I didn't like the sewing part of Home Ec Ed though and that's what turned me off.

Last minute check in the mirror at home resulted in leaning into someone's blob of toothpaste. I tried to scrub it off but I still have a white spot on the crotch of my dark blue pants, I hope that my suit jacket covers it. bah.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Morning!

I slept in today too....heading to the dentist at 3. My evil teeth-clenching has cracked yet another filling (or possibly two...she can't exactly tell from the x-ray) so I have those two to get redone. Then, the filling she replaced in April is wonky, and she is replacing that one, thankfully at no charge. GAH. So, dentist today and next Tuesday for me.

Great pics everyone! I've missed so much....

QOD: Weirdly enough, my favorite classes were several sociology classes that I took. Nothing related to my major. But this question is a nice segue into something else... one of the reason's I've not been around so much lately is that I'm applying to grad schools. After so many years of wanting to do it, but without a clear vision of how to get there, I reached a breaking point this summer at my 25th HS reunion. Ah, Shakabuku! So, I'm busy filling out applications, studying for the GRE (which I'm taking in 13 days!!! Yikes!), and endlessly editing my statement of purpose. Which, I've decided, is eerily similar to writing my online dating profile, but I won't be kissing anyone at the end of it.

Missy, j'adore the pic!

Went to the Day of the Dead ceremony last night at the Cemetery. Very very interesting and moving. I wish I understood more about what the old woman was chanting, though, because she spoke for 25 mins, i think, and there were young people dancing all around her. Plus all this incense burning, and people playing instruments. I had to leave before the offering part, but I think I stayed through the whole lifecycle ceremony (if I'm interpreting it right.)

Then I went to my sis' for supper. Maddie was clinging to my sister, not giving me a hug. I brought the nie-phews each a little crafty thing (a little wooden cut out for Thanksgiving to color), and when I gave it to Maddie, she said, "I want to give you a hug now."

This whole, make-my-own-latte in the morning thing is awesome. I've perfected them AND I'm saving $4 (at least) a day! And frankly, it takes me less time to make it at home than it does for me to get one here at work.

I'm sorry you're not sleeping well, Lori!

QOD: I really enjoyed Marine Geology, which included a field trip to the dune in P-Town. Also, I took two classes with the same prof, "Folk Song" and "Folk Dance", and in both cases, we had to learn and perform a piece. In Folk Dance, in fact, we had to dance, as a class, at Marsh Plaza and by BU Beach, dressed and performing as morris dancers, bells, hats, rags, the whole works. I also loved my Comparative Medieval Studies colloquium (one of the research colloquia I took for my major--medieval history). I think I loved that class because, unlike most of my classes, it was a small seminar course, in a conference room in the history department, which was an old brownstone on campus (still is. ). Prof was awesome, class was all about independent study, which was a lot of fun for me. I really enjoyed it. It was the closest I came to writing a thesis.

I also loved Vernacular Architecture, and my Honors Macroecon class...weird, I know.

Happy Hump Day people and Happy Birthday to Voo!!!!! I think of the big guy all the time and seem to see him often.

Fun: walked past the Cupcake Stop truck on my way into the office today and decided to get mini-cupcakes for everyone! I figure they'll help me carbo-load

Missy - oh man, I love that little girl!

QOD - Like Ann, one of my most favorite classes had zero to do with my major. Art History absolutely rocked! I really got into it too and enjoyed discussing subject matter that I'd often seen many times but never really thought about or discussed. In high school I fell in love with World Religions - fascinating stuff!

I'm making them for real...my coffee maker has an espresso maker on one side, so I make 2 shots of espresso, and either in the microwave or on the stove, heat up 1.5 c of milk. (I've been doing it on the stove for the last couple days, and as long as I keep an eye on the milk...it's better than heating in the microwave, because it gets hotter, and it froths up a little). Technically, I guess it's a cafe au lait, because the milk isn't steamed. I warm my thermos with hot water, then dump it out, add the sugar, the espresso and the milk...and hazzah! coffee!

QOD: Sex Ed. That class was hilarious. Male teacher, talked often of the benefits of having sex outdoors, had a male beauty contest, etc. EVERYONE wanted to take that class, but it was only open to seniors. There were a lot of disappointed co-eds when they found out they were closed out of that class.

Missy - great pic. That is our lovely Maria in the pic, right? (It's dark on my computer and tough to see the face, but I recognize the windows )

Ann I am really excited for you!! Any hint at what you might be studying?!

SO DH called, he had just picked up his brother and my dad was at the house watching Aiden. DH hit Home Depot and they are going to install a new door on little man's bedroom (if you recall, psycho dog LICKED through the door). I am quite afraid of what is and will be happening in my house today! I think of the 4 men there right now, I trust the little one the most
