Morning! Up early for a quick 3 miler with the dog. Did some mile repeats last night and they did not go well. Legs didn't cooperate the 2nd and 3rd and lungs/heart the last.

I did see a guy walking a cat on a leash around the lake though

(((Brandy))) Sorry the repeats didn't go well. But you got them done! That counts for something.

Recovery week for me (yay!), so my track workout wasn't as hellacious as normal. I need new shoes, though. My knee hurt the entire time I was running... and still hurts. My feet are starting to bother me, blah blah blah. Yes, I hear you, legs! Time for new gear! Hopefully I'll have time to go to the running store today.

Ugh. I feel like crap today. I suppose whatever my kid had the last few days has transferred on to me. I've got this persistent cough in my chest that hurts every time I hack. Hrmph. I went to bed at about 9:30 last night, and I still feel exhausted, like I didn't get any sleep...

I didn't run yesterday, and unless I make some miraculous improvement over the next 8 hours or so, I won't run today either. I hate taking two days off in a row...

Sorry for the whine...

Morning gang -

Yucky on the repeats Brandy. What's your next race? The Freedom 10?

I pressed snooze a bunch-o-times. Was gonna skip run but ended up doing it later than usual and it felt FABULOUS! Just over 6.1 miles in 54 minutes even. I felt like I could've kept going forever!

Good runs to all today.

Cindi - Yup, Freedom 10 miler is my next race around here. I am doing the Mackinac Island Half but unsure as of yet if I am running or racing that one.

Yup.

How did you like it? How is the course? The elevation didn't look too bad in my opinion.

sorry to hear it boB. That's what I've had too. Yesterday was awful, last night, I slept from 9:30 until 8:30 this morning. I'm starting to feel a whole lot better. Hopefully this will go by quickly for you too.

fun: The UPS man just delievered the Brooks Ghost 3s that I won when the Brooks bus was in town. I got them in the new Nightlife color and they look really cool. and, I don't care too much about color. Nice!

3 miles done today with a big hill in the middle. It was crispy when I left the house (about 3 degrees C) but I was toasty warm when I finished. I love when you stop running and all the steam starts pouring off you. Makes me feel like I'm a superhero or something. : )

I don't have a target race coming up. I wish I did. I wanted to do a fall half marathon but the timing has sucked for that. I missed the Valley one last weekend. This weekend I'm missing the PEI one (my sister is in town from Ontario and staying with us, plus I'm watching mom's dogs while she's away). Then next weekend is the Moncton one, but I'm in Moncton the weekend after that (plus, that's mom's food drive and I always help out with that). After that, I don't think there's anything even remotely local to run. *sigh*

When Sisterleenie (+ nephew, in a stroller) & I did it it was windy. At the starting line the race director was giving instructions, but the wind was blowing his voice away. So between that and standing in a mob of talking runners waiting to start, we couldn't hear anything the RD was yelling into his uh.... cone thing. (Like those cones cheerleaders yell into.)

We found out later he was giving directions about a turn and where the races split from each other. (Everything started at the same time.) Which would have been helpful as the course was not marked well and we missed a turn.

The course was really pretty; part of it was on wet, leaf covered trails, which was more challenging, but overall it was an ok run. It's been a long time though, I'd think they'd have kinks worked out by now.

Is it still hosted by the resort? Are they doing trick or treating for the kids? We tried to eat at the restaurant a couple times, but it was the last weekend they were open and the restaurant was out of everything. You'd be better off eating in town if you can.

feel better.

my knees have been killing me for the past few days. i'm just getting old and worn out i guess.

still, i run.

6.2 on trail yesterday and 6+ mi today with some hill repeats today. i figured the uphill and change of pace/incline might do me some good. i need some xt.

no races on my calendar either. its funny because as i was doing my repeats, some guy was working in his front yard and asked what i was training for. he found it humorous/impressive/strange that i was doing repeats and wasn't training for anything in particular.

it's time to check out a race calendar.

i'm just not quite ready for it to be in the 20s & low 30s in the AM.

is anyone running philly this year?

time for a margaritaS.

cheers

Hi 2oh! I have a bib for Philly, but I won't be using it. Baggs will be here, though, so the party will happen. Pacer -- are you going to be here?

I did an hour on the bike today, and then a walk up to town. Meant to just pick something up and talk to the boss, but he wanted to go for a run so I ended up working for an hour or so.

Evening all! Got out to enjoy the mega nice evening we're having here - ran 10 miles in total with 3 x 10 mins @tempo. Felt much better than last week's tempo debacle on the stooopid TM and I got to pass a dude twice rocking a Member's Only jacket while running. Which is sweet.

Philly - I'm always game for coming down and cheering!
