Morning all... rise and shine...

I'm supposed to be traveling today so had nothing planned. But given the forecast calls for a lot of snow, I have the feeling that things won't go quite as planned.

Have a good one!

Safe travels, RunA.

Three miles for me on the treadmill in 26:34. Was scheduled for intervals but had to shuffle the schedule around due to time restraints this morning.

I would also like to know what I have done to anger the two-kids-puking-in-the-middle-of-the-night gods, and publicly repent.

Cross-training day for me: teaching spinning later this afternoon/evening. Then my Wednesday workout buddy convinced me to go to coffee rather than lift weights together after. Hmmm, she's a bad influence! (I will lift on Friday instead.)

Ellen, sounds like an unrestful night for all three of you. Good job on already getting a run in.

RunAsics, can't do much about the weather, can you?

Hi Tonya!

Hello everyone else who has already come and gone. Tougher workout for me tonight. One of the ones in the first week that I didn't make it through on the TM so I hope I get the chance to do it outside tonight.

Have a great day and safe travels.

Be careful if you end up having to travel Asics

Doesn't sound like much fun, great job getting the run in anyway Ellen

Enjoy the non-running activities SGH and Richard.

Good luck on the tough workout tonight Alex. Are you going o just focus on the 2 mile to make it to state, or are you going to try your hand at some shorter stuff?

Mixed bag for me last night. Right from the start, my stomach was unsettled, and I didn't realy eat a whole lot, so not sure what was up with that. I missed too much mileage this weekend, so I wasn't about to cut it short. Only running at 140 bpm effort, but even on a very hilly course, that translated into close to the pace I was running at 150 bpm effort back in December. My stomach still hurt the whole ten miles, but I was happy with the workout.

10 more tonight, and I might experiment with adding a few short bursts just to get a little speed back in my legs before I start racing.

Good morning everyone. The kids are watching SHREK right now so I don't need to worry about them at the moment.

Ellen-- I know what you are dealing with. Last week my kids were sick and I am finally getting some sleep. It is Wednesday, Right? I hope everthing gets better soon.

I have 5 miles scheduled for today. I think after yesterdays mile trial I really need speed work to help me move faster. Have a great day everyone and keep up the great running.

Mornin'

This late-night runner shall post here early today.

My run club is normally a hearty bunch, but last night was just miserable for outside running: 37F and steady rain. After running for about 30 minutes, we bagged what was supposed to be our first week of intervals, with a 6x800m workout. Did the first two, and the recovery periods were just too cold. So we stopped.

Similar weather today, so I'll ponder using the TM tonight. Much to my chagrin.

Ellen, even with all your overnight drama it seems you're the only one with a workout here so far...

Good day all. I, like Roots, am posting my last night's run here this morning. After having to deal with a noontime lunch meeting (HATE those) instead of being able to run, I started running downstairs on the (badass) company treadmill around 4:30 pm yesterday eve. Man I love the treadmills we have here. They are just so comfortable to run on. I don't know what it is. They are so much better than the gym's treadmills.

Ellen, I know you'll appreciate this: these treadmills actually feel like you're running flat--not on a 5% incline.

So, because I'm cutting it back drastically this week, I only put in an 8.22 mile, 65 minute run, at 7:53 pace. That's all. I'm going to be pretty boring posting this week, no doubt.

Good ones to all of you who have "plans" to run later. I'm with you. Lunchtime run today of, you guessed it, 8.22 miles.

Just looked outside and it is now snowing. I think this is the last snow storm that we are going to have for a little while. It is suppose to be in the low 40's by the end of the week.

Ellen--been there, done that... Did I ever tell you about the time my guys all got the chicken pox? One after the other. I think it was a good two months that I was stuck home with sick kids. So I feel for you!!!

Good runs later for all y'all.

Fishbowl for me this morning. Kinda feeling like the movie "Groundhog Day"... Same workout, just a different day... 50min steady swim. Still working on form. Not a clue on distance.

Then, for a run. 40* and rain is a bit chilly for shorts, but what the heck, I'm game. (plus, I didn't pack anything else). Decent run. Except--I came INCHES from getting hit by a car. This is the closest call I have ever had. I'm in the crosswalk. I have a green light. And this bitch in a SUV makes a right turn into me. I was wearing my neon yellow jacket, so it's not like she couldn't see me! Needless to say, full adrenaline dump and I was wired for the rest of the run. Good news is that I really like my new shoes. Still bumming htat I have yet another pair of blue shoes... 4.67m (think that's long), 38:59, 8:21pace

Hey everyone, thanks for the feeback yesterday - I'm excited to target a sub four marathon in May! Today's intermediate marathon plan called for a 70 minute run with 5:00-6:00 Total Uphill Time. So I ran an easy pace of 10:40 and ran just under 7 miles. Normally would have been super easy, but yesterday's 9+ mile tempo run wore me out a bit. Hopefully I can reply later!

We're getting nailed with a big snowstorm right now, so I will have to run on the treadmill at lunch. Blah!

Quick fly-by for now...

Shuffling my workout plans a bit. Today called for a big interval workout, 14-16x400 but my legs are pretty tired from a double yesterday (8 mile progression run in afternoon, 3 mile treadmill run in evening). So I'm going to spin today at lunchtime instead of on Friday. Then tomorrow I'll do the track workout, with a recovery run planned for Friday. That should set me up well to race 12k on Saturday.

Not to rub it in or anything but high today around here is going to be in the 70s. Raining, though. It won't last but I'm enjoying the spring teaser while it's here.

4bm - Nice workout this morning. How much time is between your swim and your run?

Kevin - Have a great run today. Hopefully you are getting the weather I am having here in AL.

Tonya - It is good to have an easy week every now and then. Your body needs that time to recover.

Roots - sorry you didn't get your intervals in. Maybe it will clear up later and you can get out there.

Mailbox - Nice run last night. Hopefully you can get your run in today as well. Is it weather pending or are you on a TM?

Richard - Enjoy the rest.

Alex - Have a good run later.

ellen - Glad you got a run in this morning. Sorry about the sick ones.

SGH - Have a good spinning class.

Run Asics - Safe travels!

Me - Well I had a great workout this morning. Did a bike/run brick with the emphasis on the run. I put in 19.7 miles on the bike at 17.8 mph and then transitioned to the run. The goal was to run my goal pace for my up coming tri (under 20 min for 5K). I ran 3 miles at 19:44, a little slower than what is needed. But I am excited i was as close as I was. The wind was push 10-15 MPH as the storms were moving in. We were done but 30 minutes before the clouds opened up and the rain began. We are now under Tornado Warnings.

Have a great day all.

By the way- you suck Hawk...

Just got some good news- my treadmill's supposed to arrive today, so I'm working from home. Now I'm glad I couldn't haul myself out of bed this morning- gives me an excuse to play with my new tow when it gets here.

Keep with it Brian, you'll have dead legs someday when you up the intensity like that, but it's worth it.

Looks like you snuck in while I was posting Dave.

My runs are never weather pending, just some end up being a little more enjoyable than others due to the conditions. However- as you can see above, I've got options now.

Morning everyone.

On my way to the airport in a few and off to San Fran for the rest of the week. Pretty depressed this morning about money and took it out on my 5 mile run (was supposed to be 3). Will check in when I can this week.

Question - Someone earlier this week suggested running hard at the end of runs when tired. What's the benefit?

Have a good day/week all.

Safe Travels Dan.

The biggest benefit is learning to run hard while you are tired. that doesn't mean you sand bag for the first half of your run either.
