Morning all. Dr's appt yesterday went well. Drew blood for regular screenings. Also, due to unexplained weight gain he's also checking thyroid. Still need to do the boob squeeze. As far as my ankle, he couldn't find anything wrong. He did suggest that if kick drills seem to make it worse that I not do them. He told me to go ahead and run on it and see what happened.

15* and snowing this morning. Dressed for it so it wasn't that bad. Usual neighborhood route, although decided to cut it short. There's a field that I think of as "the sweep" that in the winter the wind just gets to blowing and most miserable inbound. Since this was just an easy test run, no reason to face that this morning. NO pain in my ankle, although I do feel like I've lost tons of fitness. 3.33m, 8:45pace.

And then there's son1... When you home school, you always worry that your kid won't turn out "normal" when they get to college. Although son1 is technically a senior in high school, he's taking college classes, 13hrs this quarter. This is finals week. Son1 is off to a good start. He was up until 4:30 this morning finishing a project. I think he'll make it in the "real" world.

Kevin - Have fun with the plyos.

4boys - Glad you've at least got the green light to run on your ankle. Those temps are going to help though

Kevin- Enjoy the rest

Mom- good luck with the boob squeeze.

Dan- Hope you feel like running tomorrow

I had to stay over at work for this dumb meeting.... sumthing to do w/ quality or somethin...I was really zoning out. Who needs quality anyway?

I think since I am behind I'm gonna get a run in on the treadmill. Prolly better that way, if somthing don't feel right it will be easier to bail.

Decided to sleep in rather than go to the gym. It's nice being lazy but can't make a habit of it. Anyway, planning on a 1hr run on the TM later this morning. Fun, fun!

BBS - Take it easy on the TM. Quality = no body parts in our cereal.

Dan - 1st day back is the worst. Make sure you recovery fully.

4boysmom - nice going in the arctic. Good to hear that your sons are normal. Perhaps you had a touch of tendinitis?

kfuller - enjoy the bounding. I keep meaning to get back into that but I always worry that I'll mess up my right ankle again (well more so than it is now).

Morning all,

Not much movement on the furnace issue at home. The old one is still working, though DW is convinced beyond all reason if we turn it above 62 it will surely, instantly, break down. Meanwhile we wear an extra layer around the house and are getting bids on a new system.

Eight-and-a-quarter miles for me last night, progression style, my usual TM progression run. I start at 6.0, then every "lap" I add 0.1 mph. I kept going all the way to 8.9 or 6:47/mile, right around HM pace for me. Then I did a short cooldown.

Today - mile repeats are planned. 3 x 1600 at 10k-ish pace. This will be a good prep workout if I end up running my club's 10k race on Sunday. Not sure about that yet.

As usual, way too much to do so no time to comment. Nice workouts so far though.

So, 1 hour TM run done. A relaxing 7.18 miles. Time to see if there are any cheap doughnuts available from the work cafe as I forgot to raid the stash of cookies DW baked up on Sunday.

Hawk - Nice progression run. Now you are doing 1600s?! You be crazy. Don't hammer your quads too much else they'll be screaming in the last 2 miles of that 10k... Good luck with the furnace.

You may be right. I generally consider progression runs to be easy runs rather than tempo runs since you're only doing a little bit of fast running at the very end. But that was a pretty fast finish last night and those 1600s today (6:27/mile on TM) were tough. My sinuses are bugging me today so that may have also had something to do with it, too.

All told, 5 miles in 38:40 with 3x1600, 400 recovery jogs after each.

Tomorrow's run (7-10) will definitely be at easy recovery pace.

47mins for me at a pretty decent clip...almost tempted to map it out to see where I was at. Yet the effort work that would require....nah, I'll live. Off to write a paper and bury myself in the geography textbook.

You guys are crazy dedicated, and John, I hope you had a tasty treat after that run! I've grown very fond of donuts this past semester...
