Morning, all.

BBS -- Have a great tempo run. And happy hunting should you so decide.

Me -- 1000-yd swim TT yesterday went alright. 17:02 for 1:42 pace. Plenty of room to improve. Form, form, form. Will do some testing on the bike today, too.

Good ones to everyone.

Chances - Looks like we are pretty close to the same pace swimming. You are correct, it is all about form and efficiency.

Me - I let the imagination get away from me this morning. Up bright and early and running by 6 a.m. It was dark, cold and eerie this morning running along the river with the fog coming off the water. I was running on the Riverwalk in Columbus, GA which is mostly lit up but there were a lot of lights out this morning. There is a wooden bridge to run across which can be really spooky at night if you let your imagination get away from you and this morning was not different. No lights on the bridge and not lights leading into the bridge. Of course as usual I am trying to see look far enough in front of me to make sure nobody is there waiting for me in the dark. This morning, I see someone moving in front of me. Is it for real or just my imagination? As I got closer it was definitely someone in front of me. It was a man with a hood over his head, which at that moment I realized who it was. It was an older gentleman that I see walking almost every day and he is just as pleasant as can be. On my return trip through this bridge was really freaky. At least running this direction the lights on the riverwalk shown toward the bridge, but his time all I could see was a hand moving back and forth, glowing in the dark. “Spooky!” It was the same guy, but he was wearing white gloves which reflected the light.

Now that the drama is over, I can share my run information. It was a bit colder than I am used to so I decided to wear tights and a jacket this morning. An easy 6 mile run this morning. Since it was dark I figured I would just run by feel and not worry about me pace. I just wanted to have a pleasant run with my God and enjoy the silence of the darkness. I ended up averaging an 8:12 pace. The good thing my splits were somewhat close to each other and I kept the heart rate below 70% for most of the run. I actually reached 72% at the end of the run coming up a little hill.

Morning all,

I got out for a windy 7.5 this morning. For the first 3 or so I slammed right into a 25 mph headwind, which of course meant a massive tailwind later, during which the hat, gloves and half zip all came off. Now time for a shower and some post-Christmas bargain shopping.

Chances - being the swim novice I am that pace sounds pretty good. I agree, all about form.

Dave - nice job the morning run and spooky storytelling.

Chances- I often wonder how my doggy paddle form is... Good luck w/ the test ride

Dave- Glad the Headless horseman stayed at bay today

Hawk- I need to get out and spend some christmas cash thats burning a hole in my pocket, but not sure I'm ready to face the mob yet. Nice job on the 7.5

Tempo target was 7:11 (why :11? don't ask me, that came from the Smart Coach App...). The Tempo felt a little hard and my shins were cramped up basically the whole 5 miles, but everytime I looked at my watch it was showing an avg pace of anywhere from 7:40s- 7:25. When I got done w/ my cool down mile I looked at my splits- 6:57, 7:10, 7:03. No wonder my shins feel like raw meat.

Dave - American Horror Story awaits... did you speed up at the spooky bridge?

Hawk - nice windy one.

Chances - DW got better (she was already good) after some tips on form at a triathlon specific swin class. Have fun with the bike test...

BBS - tempo = running after a deer or being chased by a bear?

Nothing for me. Woke at 5am feeling nauseous. Downed some Pepto. Still feeling on the brink of blowing chunks. DD did blow chunks so it's likely from something we both ate. Thinking lunch time noodles that we shared. Not sure I'll recover to hit the indoor track early this evening.

Nope! I slowed down because he was in front of me. I always hesitate running through that bridge at night. There are two places someone could hide and get you.
