Hi everyone. No running for me yet as I continue to recover from meniscus repair. I feel great and I could run, but I'm being compliant, as the physicians say. I had a 50-minute session on the elliptical today and a 10-mile bike ride last weekend, so I hope I'm maintaining some level of aerobic fitness.

Glad the knee is feeling good, FO. You'll be back at it soon enough.

Hi TW! Figured out that Kindle yet? ..... not that I could help!

Greta to see you back around, Erika! White Rock sounded like a real ordeal, but as usual you rocked it! Nice RR!

We got a dump of around 3" of wet snow last night, then a hard freeze to about -10°C after. Wasn't sure what the conditions would be good for, so took both skiing and running gear up to the forest trail head. It's only about 15 minutes north, but a significantly higher elevation (for around here), so it's hard to predict just looking out the door. Wish I'd taken a camera........ the woods were drop-dead gorgeous with all the heavy snow in the evergreens..... and perfect for the first ski of the season with the new equipment. Could have ran it faster if I'd had the screws in the shoes, but had a lovely time none the less, breaking trail in a few places, following tracks in others.

DH and I are off to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

Sounds like fun Heme Do you ever snowshoe?

Hi TW and FO

I did an easy hour on the eliptical. My whole body aches after yesterdays run which is why I don't often run hard

on the treadmill. May go back this evening for some more easy ellipticalling to keep the muscles loose. It depends on

how many basketball games to watch. At 5:30 Ohio State is playing. After that, our high school has a game about 7:30.

If it gets over by 9, I'll drive to the fitness center to watch some more basketball on tv while working out.

Sounds lovely, Heme! I haven't been out on XC skis in ages, but my MIL got us all set up a couple of years ago. Snowshoes would be fun, too. There are snowshoe races here in the winter but I've never done one.

Take it easy, FO. Good that you're being a good patient. You'll be rewarded soon enough.

I guess that's what makes really good runners set a bit away from most of the rest of us. I don't like pain, so I wouldn't push myself as hard as you did, Rip. My motto is, if it hurts the next day then don't do that! Recovery from White Rock was bad enough.

I'm in the nice predicament of what to do today. DH and I will head to the gym for some elliptical and weights, and I was thinking of running on the treadmill (too cold outside to run if I don't really want to do that) for 6-8 miles or so. I only need 10k to round out my year goal of 2,400 miles for the year. Nice to not "have to" run if I don't want to. The forecast looks pretty cold though for the next 10 days or so... I suppose at some point I'll have to bundle up and get out there. There's only so much TM time I can handle!

H'llo, Masterfuls.

I returned to the scene of yesterday's track workout to kill some more time in motion -- the daughters have two more days of softball camp. EZ 3 miles today. Hopefully I'll recover for some more moderately hard stuff tomorrow.

Got another hour on the eliptical this evening. I forgot how much easier it is for me to workout

later in the evening as I went much faster on the same effort as this morning.

Erika, I think the biggest reason the treadmill beats up my quads and hip flexors is

the bounce that is supposed to cushion the run. The last 2 winters I had achy knees

until I got back outside. I would rather the treadmill be more firm but have to workout

on what is provided. I don't remember having that problem on other treadmills I ran on.

I'm treating yesterdays run as a race so I'll take it easy on my next run to recover.
