Not much fun for me today... but not much un-fun either.

QOD - You are on death row and they ask you what you want for your last meal. What is it?

Greetings, Tonya!

Also - no fun here, but no un-fun either.

Qod: Hmm.. gonna have to think about that one. Undoubtedly, something really bad for me. Probably fried, in fact. With ice cream to finish up!

morning peeps.

sh!te load of traffic this morning for god knows what reason. Oy. At least the last song I heard on the radio was a good one.

QOD: tough one. Probably something sort of simple, like spaghetti and meatballs.

Gotta think about that QOD ...optimally I could have a bottomless stomach and enjoy a variety of meals within a single meal

Fun: OMG, our friend's show that is currently in a development lab, the one we saw last night, is so very awesome! Funny and emotional and so well written! I feel honored to know and have a friendship with such a talented individual.

Fun: tonight is J's mom's last night on her NYC and we're having dinner at a neighborhood favorite, Nook. Tiny, tiny place with such tasty and simple dishes

fun: Just got an invite for the Calumet county wellness coalition ( not even the county I live in!!) They are working on community gardens, a farm to school project ( getting farm fresh foods into the local school districts) and an employer wellness program... Which also got me put on my new companies wellness team and their Relay For Life committee.

All this in a half hour. I'm super super pumped... like beyond excited right now!!

Hot as hell today. Thank goodness for air conditioning. Have you ever wondered how people survived a couple hundred years ago? I mean, no air conditioning, no electricity, no refrigeration... How did people make it thru the day? Did they just all sit chest-deep in a lake all day long??

well, truth be told, people today still live in those conditions around the world! i spent a summer in nepal where it was hot as balls 100F+ every day and managed to survive without air conditioning.. for an entire summer. i think your body just acclimates and you get used to being hot and sticky... all. the.time. not that i liked it - i never felt more relief than to get on the air conditioned plane.

thank you all for your housing advice the other day. i agree with all of you.. but DH is the one who is trying to forge ahead with buying plans. hes supremely confident that his contract will be renewed (his boss depends 100% on him and said it would but i won't take just his word for it, KWIM?) and also, hes tired of living in such a tiny place. with the four of us, we are practically on top of one another... which will only get worse as AK starts walking.

Hey folks!!

So the butt kicking continues! Work is crazy times 10 (my company just bought another and it is pretty stinking huge news, many thought it would never be approved but it overwhelmingly was, i think it means great things for the future but some people are nervous about it) and home is insane!! Colin just fell into a lovely sleep regression pattern so I am a walking zombie. But it's all good, I have a job and a super cute family I love coming home to :)

I feel like I have missed so much around here though!! I need to keep up with you all better!!!

Fun: Moe is coming to visit this weekend!!! I have nothing on the agenda yet but a few ideas and if all else fails...you will be able to find up in the pool with drinks in hand!!!

QOD: This is a hard one...can I have an all dessert dinner?!

After the last couple of months...this may be the best thing ever. I've been non stop for so long, I actually find it hard to sit down and do nothing. I'm exhausted and worn down...pool + drinks + no plans = awesome!
100 years ago? Uhm, my parents didn't get air conditioning in the house until 2000. In Cincinnati. All I knew growing up was open the windows, turn on the ceiling fan.

me too. My sis got an AC window unit because she did farm work in the summers and was always verging on heat exhaustion. I worked in the library, so I got AC all day.

Same here! My cousin actually installed central A/C into my parent's house just last year and it's soooo awesome now, on the first floor only though. So it's still circa 1940 upstairs but it's better than nothing.

Hi all - no fun is 5 hours of sleep last night, which was most likely caused by a close to 3-hour nap I took middle of the day yesterday (I guess I'm still trying to get back to a normal routine)

Possibly semi-fun is a co-worker's goodbye luncheon today - the selection I picked out could be yummy, but we'll see. Also, we're getting awfully thin around here with all the departures of late

QOD: I'd have to go with the fave foods of my childhood - lumpia, siopao and pancit (essentially, the Filipino version of egg rolls, pork buns and chow mein in Chinese cooking) topped off with a big old helping of halo-halo (shaved ice mixed with evap. milk, various fruits and other yummy edibles) and a scoop of ube-flavored ice cream on the side.

QOD: I'm going to go with a nice filet with blue cheese butter, tater tots, garlic rolls and a slice of Karl's chocolate raspberry cake. mmmm I want this right now!! I don't think I will be able to wait until I'm on death row.

Afternoon, all. Hugs to Missy and Kath for co-worker issues, and hugs to everyone else who needs them.

Guys from the city have been in my backyard for the last week or so cutting down trees near the power line. It's lovely because they're doing about 85% of what I didn't want to pay someone else to do. One of the guys rang my doorbell earlier this week and asked if they could leave the tidied and cut limbs/brush in a hidden corner of my yard so they didn't have to haul the brush up the hill to the front of the house. Considering it's 95* this week, I was ok with that. I did ask them to cut off part of a tree that looks like it got hit by lightening that they wouldn't have touched otherwise. Walking back into the AC'd house was the nicest feeling. I feel really bad for people who labor outside under these conditions.

QOD: Maybe my mom's pigs in the blanket (stuffed cabbage), a fruit pizza, the carrot cake I ate in Montreal, and a slice of triple chocolate cake from Guilifty's in Pgh.

Interesting note about A/C - don't know if anyone has been watching "How The States Got Their Shapes" on the History Channel, but they basically assert that A/C has as much to do with affecting the political landscape as anything else.

The theory is once modern A/C was invented around 1960, it allowed people to take up residence in normally inhospitable places. Now those places (like Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio and Dallas, which are all in the current top-10 population-wise) are among the largest population centers in the country and has shifted a lot more power to the west (I guess top-10 California cities like Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose would fit here too, though I think the story is a lot more complex with those three cities.)

Speaking of the QOD, I don't think anyone here is going to have this on their final meal list
