Glad to see IMD (Ironman Dave) is on the mend, and Hawk is enjoying his new ride. There was even a rare crunningman sighting yesterday.

It's the middle of the night, and I'm up with really no major worries. This just happens sometimes. I'll get out for seven this morning.

ETA: Couldn't get back to sleep. Gave up at 3:00 a.m. and went out for six. :)

It's gonna be a rest day. I guess unplanned as I had hoped to go to the pool but I need to finish a baby quilt. The hound and I work this afternoon. One of my residents used to quilt and I want to show her the finished project.

Mom- enjoy the rest day

I am feeling compelled to run really fast today. Like try for a 1 mile PR fast (on the TM). We'll see. Group run tonight. Will most likely knock down an easy 4. New Castle Brown for recovery.. RA??

BBS - Newcastle Brown Ale... used to drink that when I was at college. That was a LONG time ago. Anyway, that's a pretty nice looking mile PR. The fastest I've logged, on the TM, was last December for an indoor tri relay. I ran 2.65 miles in 15 mins, a 5:40mpm avg. Outside on the track, maybe 5:25? Don't recall. Anyway, I think a sub 20 5k is a mental thing... on a cool day you should kill it.

4boysmom - enjoy the rest day and quilting...

Chances - just call up RichardC and Flounder and talk 24 hr race.

Anyway, looking for a double today too. Probably 5 easy TM miles this morning then tempo intervals on the track tonight... 1 mile - 2 mile - 1 mile. "That which does not kill us makes us stronger".

Hi all,

Another fly-by before a fun-filled day of meetings.

I hit the trail last night and all went well, I'm happy to report. I limited myself to doing 5/5 run/walk segments so I wouldn't get too carried away after such a long layoff. But truthfully I could have done the whole 5 miles without the walk breaks. Seems all that biking and swimming has kept my cardio in good shape. Even though I was running "easy" each of the run segments crept up a little faster and by the last one I was starting to slip under 8 minute mile pace without any particular effort.

Today - no major knee issues to report. A little bit of soreness which was to be expected.

Next run will be Thursday. Meanwhile, tonight another spin.

Hello all - Hope everyone is enjoying nice weather with sunny skies and low humidity.

I tried to report earlier in the week but for some reason it didn't post.

Yes,,. my race was canceled due to Irene. A years worth of work so it was a very hard decision to make but it was the right one. A lot of work and hard effort to undo everything but again it always helps to have strong partners who do amazing things. We could not reschedule but will have a 2nd inaugural race in 8/25/2012! All registrations will be honored next year.

Running has been happening late in the day but have been enjoying the dusk trots around town. Fall is on it's way and so is fall races. Today will be 5m around town with the pup and then tomorrow packing to head up to the mountains for a long holiday weekend. It will be nice to get away and always look forward to new trails to run.

Hawk - great news on the knee!

Apple - bummer about the race but it was out of your hands. Enjoy the pup trotting.

Hawk - welcome back

kfuller - 10ks are ALWAYS fun! Kind of.

Dave - just can't take the week off, eh? Recover well Ironman.

5 easy miles on the TM - done. It is the last day the work gym will be open since company cut-backs have shut it down (tear rolls down face). However; I think the plan is to allow access to the changing rooms/showers once the equipment has been removed. At least I'll still have the option to run during the day.

I'm supposed to to 15 w/12 @ pace this weekend, which is a bear of a workout and one that I typically do via a HM. There's a HM on Monday that may be good for it if my long run buddies don't want to go deep - did it last year. Hmm...
