Good morning, TEAM LIT!

scott: got a comment for you in yesterday's daily bread.

hobey: Glad to see you hook up with a group run.

Had a great meet up last evening with our very own LRR, Gator Girl, Muffin Queen, and Daysman (only one who doesn't post here) for dinner and drinks. We laughed more than is healthy. Fun time.

3 mile easy run early this morning. The stiffness went away enough (but not completely) to feel the calf and hammy again. I was worried I lost my friends. Nice to see them stick around for the fun. :)

Swimming early for me this morning. Not only did I get in my swim workout, I also got to practice sighting and holding my own as the dude in my lane did not want to share (as noted by his butterfly sets). It's okay, I'm tough and he did change lanes when one became available. Kind of funny. 1700m of drills, kick and short aerobic intervals.

Thor - I'm just glad that there is a group run close to me and convenient to get to at speeds less than Mach 2. This is the first really. All the other groups in our 'burb are composed of BrewDad's brethren. But Tuesday night may well become pizza night.

Officially into taper mode. DOR today. Just a DT massage tonight.

Hobey...been thinking a lot about your other post. I can completely understand all the things going through your head. You took on a tough marathon program...and like others said, a particular distance doesn't make or break you as an athlete. I'm also glad you found a group...running with people can make so much of a difference!!! Hang in there...we're all here to support you, encourage you, celebrate with you, and understand those challenging times. Maybe taking some time to just relax and do what feels fun and right on any given day will help.

Me...5 mile pushin' of the otters (as they put it) in the neighborhood, on the dirt [path behind our neighborhood] and to the lake to see the ducks. Felt really sluggish to start, but was able to pick it up after a mile or so. Garmin data agreed...first mile was 10:30, the rest ranged from 9:08 to 9:40.

Thor: got your comment. If I decide to do a marathon to qualify, I would need a lot of time to train because I'd want to kill it. I use to train for marathons long time ago in 04 and 05, and even 06, but I wasn't very fast, and I didn't know anything, or maybe I should say I never really got it and seemed to fade a lot. Now I'm much different and mature about things, so I'd like to see what I can do, but I just won't say I'm going to run one and take a few months to train. Not sure next year I'll give the time, but maybe. There is the marathon at the end of April x is doing, that might be one to train for, or something in May. We'll see after this triathlon season. I also want to do a 100 mile trail race too :)

I did a 90 minute recovery spin today, maybe some core later. Feel good. Also ran some moderate hill repeats last night.

Wow, I'm blown away by the Boston-running LIT peep who were out there putting in the miles yesterday. I could barely walk. Well done everyone!

Got an easy 2500m in the pool this afternoon. Going to try and swim almost every day I'm at home between now and Lake Placid. FIB 30 min of lifting and core work.

You're really not all that mature, but I guess everything is relative.

My quads in the morning were worse than yesterday. My short swim and hot tub last night didn't help much, I guess.

Took my StumpJumper to the outside first time!!!!!! In the low '40s with wind, I wasn't feeling that agressive to hit the singletrack, so took it to the road to visit LBS to buy some tubes. 30min or so of riding and I loved it! Forgot all about how fast you can move on a bike. Tomorrow, I am riding it for real.

I haven't experienced this but you may want to get your iron levels checked. You may have a mild iron deficiency due to all the heavy training but definitely talk to a doc since iron isn't something that should be self-medicated.

I went for a run with a new run club. Met a few people and passed out some coupons to use in our store. This club will be doing a run every Wednesday and hopes to grow like another club that meets downtown every Tuesday and gets about 1000 people a week. Since this is happening just on the other side of the parking lot from our store I wanted to meet the organizer and see if we can find a way to help the club grow and help our sales as well. My store manager is receptive and insisted on paying me for my efforts. First time I got paid to run.

Cool/low 50s - cloudy with light drizzle and light wind. Ran with the new Rock Bottom Run Club on streets in the neighborhood surrounding the Rock Bottom Brewery. Medium pace run. I just kept up with a young guy who knew the route. Had to stop a few times for traffic lights.

Mike, I am totally hobbled!! 3 weeks of no running is definitely not the way to go into a marathon.I felt like I was hit by a truck. Today, Thurs - I feel a bit better, I bought an electrostim device at the expo and i think it helped at lest a little.

Don...woo hoo! Paid to run!

Took another DOR on Wednesday...just didn't feel like getting up in time for 6am swim and 9am swim would have conflicted with my 10am massage appointment. Was able to get outside and join Tom on a walk with the dogs. Legs felt much more functional than they did on Tuesday. Drained the blister on the middle toe on my right foot and that feels much better now, too.
