Morning Kath!

I *finally* have something to post in the fitness thread. There's a run/walk trail at my new apartment, and I got out and walked a 5K in 46:34 this morning in the soup. No running, but it will come soon enough. Felt good!

I saw yesterday where there is a 5K on campus in mid-September for parents weekend, and it's free for students. I think I've found my motivation to get back on the horse, no?

Morning Kath, Ann and all who follow.

My alarm went off at 5 so I could get up and at 'em early for a running, but there was a huge storm moving through. It is still rumbling out there, but hopefully it will move through soon. I am finally feeling pretty good and want to get something of a run in!

morning

Well I am HAPPY that I gots a pardon last night from coach and didn't have to do that killer w/o. Sweet! He didn't want to beat me up too much with the HM coming up next weekend. So instead we did 16 200s at 51-59 secs per interval. Felt pretty good

4.5 miles this morning and running hyland loop (7.5) tonight.

It was MUGGY out post storm. ew

Hiya, ladies. Nice workouts yesterday and today...

Yesterday afternoon I ran with my new Garmin 610 for the first time! The thing is pretty sweet. Problem is, it seems to measure the route a little short. Yesterday was an easy day, and I just ran 3 laps at a park I've run at a million times before. In the past, I had always measured the route at just shy of a mile. (0.98 or 0.99). And that's with a couple different Garmins (a 205 and a 305). But this new sucker measured each lap at about 0.95. Then I read online that other people have seen the same thing with the 610, where it's measuring things short. Hmm... That kinda sucks. I'm not sure what I need to do about this...

Fun to have a new Garmin. I lost my HRM and have been thinking about getting a new one. Hmmmm. Do I get a new HRM or upgrade to the newer Garmin?

The storms passed and I got 9 miles in. Have you ever had one of those runs where your legs just want to go faster? Well, I haven't had one of those runs in a LONG time. Until today! Woot! I had an awesome run and progressively picked up the pace each mile. I felt great. So yay - I feel like I'm finally starting to shake off the slow. Maybe the 3 rest days post-Tough Mudder helped. I'm sure the 60 degree temps probably had something to do with it too. Now I need to hurry up b/c I am going to be supah late getting into work.

Brandy - I am envious of all your workouts!

Oh yeah - TM photos are up (at least some of them). Check out DH!

Proof that I faced my fears, jumped off a 15 foot platform and swam across the lake! Woot!

hee hee! I think it's cute how you were holding your nose during the jump!

Ann, go for it!!

I misread my training plan and ran 3 yesterday when I should have run 6. So today was supposed to be 3 and I did the 6. Not bad, but I did have to take a wooded pit stop halfway through because of "issues." *sigh* I thought I was done with that sort of thing but I guess not.

Haha - I know, I am such a dork. But I HATE getting water up my nose and that would have been inevitable with that jump if I didn't. :)

Sorry to hear you had to stop. That is not fun.

You were actually my inspiration for buying it! I knew if you were using it, it was good stuff. I'm a big fan so far...in a love/hate kind of way.

love/hate indeed!

I recently moved up to level 3 but still can't get all the way through the 3rd circuit w/o modifying. I am ALWAYS dripping sweaty mess like at the end! I have noticed a big leaning in the legs and muscle building effect in my arms

easy 5 for me this morning, actually felt cool out there - temp in the 60s, no humidity. Managed to beat the rain too.

nice pics Mindi!

Bob - if it's a consistent problem I'm sure garmin will release a firmware update that will take care of it.

Cute photos, Runnin'--that looks brutal. So, tomorrow I start a pilates class as I am (embarrassed smiley) a P90-x and Insanity drop out. I just can't keep up with the programs it seems and running, too. OK, to be fair, I'm in the 40's for mileage, but still. I think a class will give me nice balance.

Today--8.5 this morning in the drizzle. Brandy! It got HOT, I hope Hyland was not ridiculous. Tomorrow, intervals. Oy.

Saturday running with a whole big bunch of 30's and not 30's runner peeps. Notably Nettie, Sage, BigG are helping Sage through 20. (I'm on for ~15)

Please pray for low humid, m'kay??

:)

Oh...and... I think I should probably get on a more intensive training plan of some sort now that I'm in the TCM 10 miler. Eh? I want to do one more half and a 5k this summer yet...

Yeah, I gotta do one of those mud run some day. I doubt I'll hold my nose while I jump into anything though...

Second run with the new Garmin this evening. I've done this route before and usually measure it right around 7.37 miles. Today's run got logged as 7.33. So that's pretty darn close. Maybe that first run was just a little off and I don't have anything to worry about. I hope...
