8 miles at 5:30 this morning in high 70s and a billion% humidity. I went out & back from my house along the water as much as possible, which included an area where I've never run. It took less than 5 minutes to run through the entire downtown of the "city" where I live.

I started out feeling pretty tight the first couple miles, but with a breeze on the way back I felt like I could go forever.

A sleepy five at 5:30 this morning. Around the pond, past a heron, grouchy geese, and fluffy brown baby ducks. It started to rain as I was in my last half mile, and it felt great. Didn't take a watch this morning, and it's good that I didn't. Lately I've been trying to run the pace I think I should be able to run instead of the pace I can run.

jebba- your run sounds so nice!

I'm gonna give a 4 miler a go tonight. I woke up this morning but just didn't feel up to it, so I walked we walked our dogs instead. They were quite appreciative It was worth missing a run!

SGH - Move out here.

Jebba - Sounds like you're doing wonderfully. Runs like that are good for the soul.

4.5 pokey miles as per Durden. It's going to get hot this week... but no humidity.

SGH - Move out here.
QUOTE]

No SGH needs to move to NJ where the jobs and trails (and men) are plentiful
9 miles in about 76 mins this morning. We should be cooling off today-finally.

9.5 miles at 4:45am. I met up with 4 ladies from my running club. I generally run on my own during the week, but running with some people makes those mid-week longer runs go by better. Finished in 1:22:08, felt really good. It was a beautiful morning, perfect running weather - low 60s, very low humidity. Sunrise was beautiful, and even saw a rainbow. That's the sign on a good day, right?

1 hour run at the park, good pace. Went back home and power walked on the TM at 8-9% incline for 30 mins.

4.57 miles at a slower pace than normal for me. Finished it in 38:44 for a avg pace of 8:28/mi. This was supposed to be a non running day but I decided last night I neeeeeeeeded to get out there and do a slower recovery run from yesterdays 7 mile run.

That and I want to get as close to 100 miles this month as possible!!!

HHH. Again. A very slow 6 miler turned into a 5 mile shuffle with boomers in the distance. Heat index 86. This sucks.

5 Recovery miles on the treadmill 9:22 pace. Wanted to go faster, which has to be a good sign. Made myself keep to the slow & steady.

30 minutes in the pool at the Y. Mostly breast stroke with some freestyle thrown in. My form/technique sucks but im going to continue to jump in and swim. I gotta get better eventually.

1/2 way thru my 2nd week back to running. Temps this afternoon is about 10 degrees cooler than last week.

Completed my first 3 mile run today. No walking and no stopping. Kicked the last 100 yards or so. The run felt good. I put on my shuffle and listened to Charlie Parker and Dizzy G for the run through a shaded bike trail.

All in all a pretty good run - still not to the point where I'm interested in keepin' track of time; my only goal now is to simply get back into the habit of running...

great day to all!

Hi all,

Nice efforts out there today. Way to go.

In honor of the Major League Baseball all star break, I'm going to sum up my run today by paraphrasing from baseball:

There is no joy in Mudville,
The Mighty EQ has struck out.

Okay, the mighty part doesn't fit my personality, I don't live in Mudville, and I didn't strike out...but you get the idea. A bad night for me. I was due for one. First time in a while I've had a run where I couldn't go the distance.

Here's the report:

Daily Run Report

Date: 07/11/2007 Time: 15:36
Run Type: Just A Run
Distance: 10.0 miles
Total time: 02:03:23.5 Average Per Mile: 00:11:49.6
Course: OTHER COURSE
Max HR (for entire workout): 173
Average HR: 147
Shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 2 - 05/2007 Date Entered Service: 05/08/2007 Ending Mileage: 222.3
Weather: Hot and humid.
Temperature: 82 Temperature Type: Ambient Air Time: Start
Temperature: 83 Temperature Type: Ambient Air Time: End
Temperature: 88 Temperature Type: Ambient Air Heat Index Time: End
Temperature: 87 Temperature Type: Ambient Air Heat Index Time: Start
Dew Point: 70 Time: Start
Dew Point: 69 Time: End
Wind speed: 7 Max Gust: 16 Direction: SSE

MERRIMACK RIVER TRAIL

Plan tonight was a 15 mile medium long run. Unfortunately, I could only manage 10. Even then, I had to do some walking on the way back to get back to the car.

I am going to chalk this one up to the heat, humidity, and going out too fast. First 3 miles were sub 10 minute miles, which is too fast in that heat.

At least tonight I didn't feel like I was going to black out like I did last night.

Run Segments
EQ, I'm sure the heat had a lot to do with your run. Just keep moving forward, no worries.

I ended up cycling with 3 other people tonight, only about 10 miles on the road. We split off at mile 6.5 when I discovered I had a flat. Who knows how long I rode with it? Since I wasn't looking for a killer workout, just saddle time, I took a shortcut back after the tube was changed and partially pumped back up (by the only rider who know what he was doing).

Still not a problem-free ride, but I am very happy that I didn't fall or feel panicked at any point. It was fun!
