Hello!

RichardC, if you roll every day you'll smooth out the knots and it won't hurt as much. Promise! When I started rolling it was very painful and now it feels like relief. Enjoy your swim.

My day includes teaching pilates and yoga classes for the college, then this evening spinning for the Y followed by yoga for another gym. I get around!

I think I have a touch of runner's knee so am doing an ice/Advil regimen to soothe it.

I wanted to ask those with a Brooks code (looks like Tonya hooked up a lot of us!) how long it took to get your orders? Especially those on the East Coast. I placed an order Friday, but if it's going to be some time I'm going to need new shoes before they arrive.

Sounds like a good decision Richard.

Hope those knee problems go away SGH

Did 9 real easy yesterday. Not sure what's on tap for tonight, but definitely working from home until the roads clear up. Lots of wrecks here in Ohio.

Oh yeah- ALEX- looks like we're going to be Doing Damage on team D. Rest up today and tomorrow...

My interval session last night was a bit crappy. I was dog tired after a real long day at work and so was feeling a bit off. I decided that the few 1:22s I had planned weren't going to happen so lumbered through 10 * 1:26 400s with 60 sec rests. Finished up with 6.1 miles in 46:30.

Looks like I have 5 or 6 up for today - planning for afternoon treadmill run at work. May take a rest if I still feel off.

There's a rumor flaoting around that I may be signing myself up for a fall marathon - my first. The thought of it scares the living you know what out of me... If I do it, I'll be shooting for a BQ time (3:15 for my age group). I have no idea if I'm capable of that but since my wife is planning on a half ironman, this would be the perfect time to train.

Have a good one!

Seem to have that duplicate message thing again... anyway, I was going to add a comment on the foam roller. It hurts like a SOB at first but that subsides. It has helped me a lot in the past.

If this paparazzi got the message right RA, when does training start? I'm pretty sure you'll rock the crap out of it. Well whatever goes down, I'm sure you'll do us proud...and by the way - we expect you to one-up Tonya and win the entire thing and BQ. No pressure...

Tough workout tonight but it is supposed to be mid-20s so if it's not windy it should be great.

Mailman - Just remember that I'm going now higher than 40mpw, but with walking to and from school everyday and visits to my coach's house, races, and corework I'll try to scrounge up as many points as possible.

Good morning everyone. Looks like people are up this morning, but no workouts yet. I never get to run in the morning except on Saturday and days my wife does not have to work. I have 5 miles scheduled for today or I can do my tempo run today. I might have to schedule my long run on Friday. They are having a super pipe snowboard and ski competition at the Park City Mountain Resort on Saturday and I might be up there all day watching. I will just have to see how I can alter my schedule so it will work. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning all.
Richard hope the IT-band is doing better -- that rolling sounds painful!
SGH -- sorry about the knee -- I have had some knee pain on and off since October that I am pretty sure is Runner's Knee as well...
Asics that is exciting about the marathon -- do you have one picked out yet?
Dave good job with the run this morning.

This morning did 56 minutes on wet/muddy trails. I am still feeling discombobulated form Monday's illness, so took it very slow. It was pouring the last 5 minutes of the run so got completely soaked -- at least it was warm -- 50ish.

Good Morning, everybody.
Four miles today, accompanied by a hard cold (37 degrees) rain. It let up at times, and other times it was just miserable. It was the kind of day that motorists look at you like you're kind of weird. The kind of day that you feel like you're the master of the universe...
Alex, you rousting Tonya again? Just kidding.

Good runs, all

Hey

slept and slept and still kind of tired. going to give it the old post college try though and see if I can get in 5 easy ones. I think that the hill pickups and pushing it on the end of my long runs has taken it's toll on my ol legs.

Back later to catch up.

Good Morning Everyone!

I got up and out while it was still dark this morning. My body is still adjusting to the elevation so my run was tiring. I managed to get a 5 mile loop starting from my hotel and up the roads to the University and took the trail back! It felt pretty good but I'm getting some tension in my right leg. My sore foot must have put my stride off a little. We'll see how it goes tomorrow afternoon!

Good workouts to all today!

How much elevation? Recently, when I was on a trip, I was amazed at how much difference 3500 ft. made.

Ok, now that I'm actually AT work...

Everyone have fun with their workouts later.

RA - What marathon are you running? I might join you. And SERIOUS congrats to the wife for trying out a Half Ironman, honestly. That's some hard work.

SGH - Are you some kind of bionic woman?

Alex - Don't razz me or I'll spank you.

Dave - Good job on the run this morning. That's the longest one we've seen in a little while, I think.

Loopy - Good to hear you're feeling better already. I wish I could run some of those trails with you.

Baba - Nice job here as of late. You've really been pounding out the runs. Great job!

I am going to be a late poster. Yesterday's run obviously wasn't enough for me because I went to the gym last night with one of two goals in mind: either an elliptical machine workout or yoga. I've never done yoga before and I'm a little nervous about it, so I decided to go with the elliptical. The only unfortunate thing is that, whenever I got to the gym, there were people on the particular ellipticals I typically use, so I did 10 minutes on a different one while waiting...but then once one of the elliptical machines I usually workout on was free, I also did the usual 66 minutes there. Soooo...

10 minutes on elliptical that sucked - 2.02 miles
66 minutes on good elliptical - 12.72 miles
Total - 76 minutes, 14.74 miles, 5:09 pace

Today I just have a lunchtime run planned, probably 8+ miles.

Morning all! How do y'all get your workouts in so early?!

Mailbox--where in OH are you? I'm in Columbus. Yah, we got some interesting weather this week!

In the fishbowl by 6:15, coach met me at 6:30. Chip's a great coach. Except, there's "clock timing" and "Chip timing". A 30min session is always a good 60mins. Yah, I'm getting my money's worth, but dang if he's not trying to kill me!!!

Then for a run. We had rain all day yesterday which changed over to snow overnight. About 2inches of really heavy wet snow. Wasn't too slippery, but I'm certain it slowed me down a bit. 4.5m, 40:48, 9:04pace. Dah, I'll take it.

I placed my Brooks order last night. Two pairs of Adrenaline 7's and the NightLife jacket. I've wanted that jacket since I first saw it! Finally, with the discount I could justify getting it. The Adrenaline's were so cheap, I figure I can rotate them through and hopefully avoid injury.

I also bought a book from Amazon. One of the men at a facility my dog and I visit is big into Sousa. Another handler read an article in the paper about him. FOund out that he has written a book. I figured I'd get the book and have him sign it. Turns out this guy is the 'world expert' on Sousa and has written 16 books! Who knew?!?!?

Yeah, that discount is so great. I'm wondering if I'll like my first Brooks pair of shoes. I hope so. That'd be great to get that kind of discount on all my shoes, considering the 360s I always get are at least $140.

The Chicago Marathon is the obvious choice BUT 20k/45k have already signed up so I need to decide quickly as I'd want to get in Corral B based on my HM time. However; my wife wants me to pick a destination marathon... she's all about the long weekend... In general, I'd prefer a somewhat flat course for my first attempt - hills can come later. I'm going to try and pick one this week.

Currently, I think I'm in good shape to enter a training program (may sign up for the local CARA program, which use Hal Higdon's programs, just so I'm not running solo all the time.) That starts in June after my last Spring race.

DW will rock the HIM if she puts her mind to it - a big switch up from the Sprint and Int distance tris of the past few years. She signed me on to help her with the run. I'll probably be her bike buddy as well. Should be cool.

I really like Hal Higdon.

Pssh. Good enough shape? I'd say so. You don't have anything to worry about there.

That is a great thing to do with your wife. You'll find that it is very enjoyable running/biking with her. Unless you've done that kind of thing already before. Phillip and I love the time we spend training together. I actually get to run a "recovery" pace, and I really get to experience the outdoors, rather than breeze past it.
