Rest day. Opting to do nothing but easy running this week. Planning on driving the course tomorrow. I pretty much know it--driving to work last night I was on part of the course--but there's a part that I want to convince myself won't be that bad. Or at least the sucky part won't last forever.

DD was up a couple of times (probably dreaming about The Lion King) + there was a skunk party in the wee hours so I opted to sleep in and do my first post marathon run around work later this morning. I need to do something as I'm eating like a horse and will look like a beached whale in NYC.

BBS - hash run?

I got out for 3.10 miles. It felt nice and easy. Even the last .1 which was at about 6:30 pace. Now, only if that could feel easy for a complete 5k. Nice job on all the resting and running.

Morning all,

No time to post yesterday but I did get out for 9 easy miles in the evening after being at a conference all day. Followed up with some core.

Today - I'd like to hit the club track workout...if it's not raining cats & dogs by this evening, and if I can get out from under the pile of crap my friendly co-workers deposited on my desk while I was out of the office on company business.

If all else fails I'll hit the track closer to home, or TM in my home for the interval work.

kevin - nice job on the spontaneous 5k run. Feels good to "blow off" a rest day sometimes.

4bm - enjoy the rest day, sounds like you are tapering well. I see you tried my taper week 4-mile MP workout yesterday, tweaked it a little but no big deal -- either way you should feel sharper come race day.

BBS - enjoy the 5 mile suds run.

RA - careful with all that eating...there was a beached whale in NY Harbor a few years ago.

Oh, and on the daily thread issue. I will keep posting as long as it's around. Going to a weekly format won't make it any more popular...I'm a participant on the weekly training thread in The Race and that one is lagging behind in traffic too. The multi-sport thread was discussing this very issue a few days ago (why such low traffic in the forums)...consensus there was that the growth of Facebook and KR's interface changes were part of the problem, but the biggest issue was inability to post from smartphones. I know my posts have decreased because of that.

Ran 7 shirtless miles at lunch. Low 70s, sunny and breezy. Brings back memories of Saturday. This Indian summer is bizarre. The local trail was swarming with crickets and grasshoppers. I had to use my shirt to beat them off! Probably scared a few old ladies with my lily white torso.

Hawk - hopefully there'll be no cats (or dogs) at track tonight.

kfuller - you are just full of surprises.
