After oversleeping yesterday and not running, I arose early and ran 8.2 miles (in 1:34:40) in the 60F degree muggy weather. So much for those cold temps from a few days ago!

Hope everyone has good runs.

Good morning, everyone.

Can't sleep here in the Mountain Time Zone -- simply too much brewing in my addled mind with work and family. After coffee I'll sneak in five before making my way to the office.

Good runs to all today.

Include me in the early morning, too much on my mind, coffee drinking, almost runners.

Nice job out there outlaw

Rob - I know what's got you up. You're just so excited about my Seahawks beating up on the Pack next Sat.

Hip feels pretty good this morning but will keep it to 3 and try and get up to 20 for the week. Back later.

good running there outlaw. i'm up early in hope of well let's be honest running twice today. hoping yesterdays run would carry over, although the hip is a bit sore I think, so I'm not sure how this first run is going to go. Was hoping to put in 12 or 13, but i'm gonna see how a half hour feels. The frustration continues, but who knows maybe it'll feel good?

Dan you're a funny guy.

Richard - definitely a good plan. Wouldn'r want to make the wife angry and not do it now right?

XC - Hopefully it feels better, but if not don't feel bad resting it another day or two. It's gonna keep your training a lot better in the long run since it'd probably be more productive to have no mileage for a few days than to constantly struggle with the pain and have a week or two of lessened mileage. Don't let those numbers take too high of priority...#1 right now is to get you better! Take care buddy.

Hope everyone else has a good day today.

Alex... I have to say I am pretty lucky that she is supporting my ever increasing running Habit this way.

So what is your plans Alex... RUn around Pittsville for an hour ... (you should just run to Marshfield instead LOL

yea yea yea, you guys sound just like my... head ha. prob is the heart tells you something different. It's so hard to just sit and rest when I've already taken 4 full days off. I took 2 days off after getting my foot run over, go figure, it's just hard to imagine I'd need more for this, but oh well. Then i'm wondering since I think it's just a deep hip bruise if it's getting worse by running or if I can run until pain, ice, and then it'll progress.

Way to get out there and put in a nice morning WO.

Dan- we can only hope that the old man goes down in flames this weekend. Who knows- maybe Hasslebeck will stop whining long enough to win the game.

For me, yesterday's run seemed like the perfect convergence of factors to keep the running gear at home, and just get out there. I was still a little pissed about Monday's game, I had just read about SherpaJ so there was extra motivation there and it was raining really really hard. So I ended up doing 10 and really cruising. I didn't have a watch, so it wasn't timed, but I know it was as fast as I ran since late November, and I felt great during, and this morning.

Back to slow stuff tonight- hopefully 10 again if all goes well. Looking at my log from last year, if I get at least 8 in today, I'll already have more mileage in for this January than last. (Man I sucked last year)

Morning people. 7 x 400s today at 7:30 pace, for a total of four miles in 32:49 on the treadmill. I think assuming 7:30 is my 5K pace is a bit optimistic, but I could hold them for quarter mile increments, so there.

Have good ones, all.

i was blazing out there for those 5 seconds let me tell you. ok even that's a lie I couldn't even blaze for the 5 seconds. limped around, for 2 meters and turned back. I don't know if i mentioned yesterday, but when i fill i hit my left knee and right hip, the hip feels kinda ok today, I think tomorrow it may actually be all better, the left knee felt fine until yesterdays run than half way through warmed up, now it feels like hell i couldn;t bend it on the run, back to the couch with my ice packs...

Wow lots of activity

Feeling a little crispy, so I ran 9 nice and easy this am -

I have done a large training load in the last 5 days (110 miles). I am contemplating either keeping banging them out through January 27th or pulling back slightly to let my shell shocked body figure it out.

Good running to all -

Finished up last night with 20 minutes on the elliptical and 15 on the stair-stepper. Holy crap was I sweaty by the end. Then it was off to see Depaul get plastered by Georgetown. A minute into the game it was 11-0 and that was all she wrote. Oh well.

Today I'm hoping to get some sort of quality running in over lunch, and then some light lifting and ab work in the evening. But as always, we'll see.

Flounder, are you running with a headlamp in the morning? Or was that a TM run?

That was TM - But lots of runs in the dark - But I live in very residential areas and as long as I do not run on the trail - I do not need a headlamp. THis AM I didn't want to fight all the ice patches - after all that rain and melting snow it was 28F this am - warm enough, but I thought I would keep the ice skates in the closet

xc - I'm with ya. Take it easy. As I'm nursing myself back I find one day can be fine but then the next not so much. Like Alex said, keep the numbers down overall.

Richard - have a good one later. I like that pick up and delivery service you've got

Mailbox - You're right about Hassleback. Fortunately their defense looked pretty damn good last week. Unfortunately I'm also a Packer/Farve fan. Gotta stick with the hometown team though.

Flounder - 110 in 5 days? I'd say that's a load. Nice going on the crispy 9.

I got in my 3. Hip fine during but a little stiff after. Got ice on my back and hot coffee to drink. Life is good?

Morning all;

The sun is shining so it's a good day. Taking it easy today, probably 3-4 miles @ 7:30 to 8mpm. I may add some cross-training and weights along with the normal core routine.

Dan; there's something about the Seahawks I like so I hope they win. Also, being in Chicago, I don't want to see the Packers win.

Ellen: real nice going with the intervals.

xcrunner3113: falling over, being run over by a car... I think you need a government health warning

Nice running for those who have already done it this morning. Got up early today when one kid decided it was time to get up. Then outside to get the newspaper and it was snowing as it was forecasted, but being in a daze from just waking up I forgot that is was suppose to snow. So out the door for 20 minutes of shoveling snow. It currently looks like I will get more snow shoveling in later today. Looking to put in 5 miles today at an easy pace. Have a great morning everyone.

1/4 mile @ 6:03 pace
1.39 mile @ 7:53 pace

Total of my run for SherpaJ day = 6.21 miles
Total of my runs for the day = 14.43 miles (8.22 mile run at lunch yesterday, remember)

And to think I was going to take a rest day yesterday...

Also--forgot to mention--yesterday Nirvana informed me that, based on my 5 mile PR, I qualify for the elite top 100 women's corral at the world's largest 8k in Chicago in March, the Shamrock Shuffle.

To qualify, you have to have a 2007-2008 5 Mile Race time with splits <6:15 per mile, for women. My PR, from this Thanksgiving's 5 Mile Turkey Trot, where I came in second because of that stupid Team Nebraska girl beating me by one minute, is 31:01, or 6:13 per mile. JUST made it.

Today is calling for something, maybe just a lunchtime 8+ mile run. We'll see, per usual.

Good morning all....

Managed 4.5 slow miles at the track last nite while my kids played soccer and ran around....felt pretty good but still fairly sore from sunday's ill-advised 12 miler....good news is IT band held up well and is only "pleasantly" sore today....

Will do a 5k on the 19th at the nearby AFB....a time around or under 25 would be okay....

Go Pack! I always liked the seahawks back in the days of Steve Largent, Jim Zorn and Curt Warner but since those days are WAY long gone, i'm lukewarm on 'em now....Brett Favre is the man....here's to one more year, yet again!

Nirvana - Ray Meyer was my favorite coach as a kid...the "kindly" grandfather sort....i just loved the guy and his teams were good....
i hated it when he died a year or 2 ago....i'm afraid the program he nurtured for 40 something years has really gone downhill in the years since 1984....remember Dallas Comegys?

some excellent running out there....stay well and keep it up....have a good day all.....
