Rehi all.

Okay.. so I can't think of a witty song to put on for today that fits both with running and a wedding. Unless it has something to do with a shotgun, which I highly doubt is applicable today!

Oh - I do have one question (if anyone is around this weekend to see it). Ice baths for the feet: After my run yesterday (and a suggestion from my massage therapist, I filled a little wash bin thing with water (outside) tossed my freezer's contents of ice into it, and tried to do the soaking thing. YEOWWCH! I had to alternate feet and could only stay in maybe 15-20 seconds at a time. Are there any guidelines/advice on this sort of thing? Is it meant to be a 2 minute soak and you're done? Is alternating in/out any benefit?

I'll do a little research after I finish this post, but anyone with some inside knowledge - please feel free to chime in!

Hope everyone has a wonderful (and SAFE) holiday weekend!

Yay for wedding bells and bliss! I hope Theia and GoV have a perfect day!

Ailarie - what are you using for a "wash bin" - if it is metal at all and you put ice in it, you are going to hurt your feet. Stick with the bath tub. Plus, I always thought of ice baths for sore muscles (calves, hammies, hip flexors), not feet. My feet never really like the process all that much.

I slept in this morning! We had serious storms here last night, so my sleep was very interrupted, but it was nice to stay in bed until almost 9. I am going out to run a nice easy run soon. Then it is COLLEGE FOOTBALL TIME!! Woot! Go Noles!

Oh, and , despite the controversy, James and I both decided we are going to cheer for Oregon today. I guess all the tours you gave him of the athletic facilities rubbed off. :)

Going off for a hike in one of the local parks we haven't been to before, then hanging out with Kris' sister and family (inculding some grilled smoked pork tacos - yum!) later in the day.

Somebody (not me) has an early stage bladder infection. Somebody doesn't know that if he makes noise when he needs to go at night, that I'll take him out. Somebody Else does make noise when it becomes evident that Somebody has issues. But by then it's too late, and I have oceans of pee to clean up.

Which means that between my alarm being set every 2 hours to take Somebody out, and Somebody Else barking in between alarms to get my attention because there are issues, I only caught a couple hours of sleep last night.

Just got back from the vet. Somebody got a shot of antibiotics and 10 days worth of pills. I had planned to get a bunch of salt & pepper shakers made this morning before we leave for the lake, but Dh wants to leave in an hour or so. I'm going to have to take clay & tools with me. Which I guess isn't that big a deal, but... It's not as convenient as doing it here, obviously. Plus we're taking the dogs with us overnight for the first time, so it adds another layer of stuff to deal with.

Okay, so I have been entering my info at Calorie Count all week and I have decided that I really do like this approach. It does make me think twice before I hit the office candy jar. I did GREAT all week. Except last night. We went to Quaker Steak & Lube for dinner, I had a couple glasses of wine, and DH and I snacked on trail mix while watching TV last night. Yeah, I had over 3000 calories for the day! No big deal to do that once in a while, but it is a real eye opener to see how many calories eating out, drinking alcohol, and late night snacks (even if relatively healthy) really add up to. The good news is that DH is on board with cutting that stuff out for the most part, so it won't be as hard for me. But I am sure we will continue to have cheat days. Life is no fun otherwise!

Yay for GoV and Theia!

And yay for college football! I stayed up way too late last night watching the TCU-Baylor game. It's two teams I don't really care about, but I was just so excited that college football is back that I couldn't stop watching. And it turned out to be an incredible game!

Then I got up way too early this morning to go into work for a while. Then I left and got in a 7.7 mile run. Should be enough, since I have the 20k race on Monday...

YEah that TCU-Baylor game was a kick in the pants! I am a TCU alum back when we were terrible (like 1-11 bad) so the occasional loss isn't so bad. But that was painful to watch.

Go Ducks!!

I ran 8 miles today and the hip held, but I was super slow on the up hills and at the end it was twingey so I walked about the last .30 of a mile.

State Fair today. Check FB for some photos. I am reminded that our culture has some weight/food issues. I'm sad about this, actually...

Ail..I was once told with feet to freeze water bottles and roll that on them gently, not to submerge them or roll them really hard...always luke warm water for epsom salts, too. not enough fat there to protect much from extremes??? from where i can't remember, though...

Thankfully, the peeing issues are markedly improved. No more peeing indoors. But still no sleep at the lake last night. Didn't get any pottery stuff made yesterday, so I need to make it all today* and get it dried today* (ie bake them on low in the kitchen oven) so I can fire tomorrow. But I need a big nap first. BIG. NAP.

Congrats to GoV and Theia! It kind of blows my tiny little mind that all this happened on a 30something thread (and I'm looking at you, too, Moon and Bard!!) Pretty fabulous.

So, I was hoping to run yesterday because in my mind, Fri/Sat/Mon/Tues would have been ideal (I have Tuesday off, so it's part of my long weekend). But setback #1 is that DD is having some severe sleep issues and I got mayyyybe 2-1/2 hours of sleep on Friday night. Setback #2 was the Monster-in-my-Belly roaring again. I have no idea wtf is wrong with my stomach but luckily I have come to realize that it's not running-related. Anyhow, yesterday's activity consisted of napping instead.

I did get 6.5 or 7 done this morning, so I feel much more prepared to have a good day. I was a wicked shrew yesterday and I know that lack of endorphins had a lot to do with it.

Ugh. I kinda feel like crap today. My head is very congested and I'm very phlegmmy. This is not a good sign for tomorrow. I think I'm gonna have an ugly race tomorrow. Oh well.

At least it was fun watching football yesterday. The Gators looked good, albeit against a nobody. Still, it was better than last year, when the opening game against a nobody was a bit of an adventure. LSU took care of Duck's Ducks pretty good, despite having a bunch of players suspended. But geez, LSU has a tough schedule! I don't think anybody in the SEC is going to go undefeated this year because there are just too many good teams. So even if the best teams in the country are in the SEC, I think there's a good chance that none of them will be playing for the national championiship this year. Well, obviously it's too early to tell...

Along these lines, I was a little surprised that Boise St was able to beat up on a middle-of-the-pack SEC team like they did. Georgia finished 6-7 last year and most people seemed to think they would be one of the most improved teams in the country. Well, maybe not. Or maybe Boise St really is that good. But I guess we won't know, because Boise doesn't play anybody else good for the rest of the year. It's gonna be hard for them to not go undefeated this year...

I think I'm gonna be napping for most of today. I just feel so darn wiped out...

I just woke up from a 3 hour nap. Might be able to form a coherent sentence now. 2 nights in a row of maybe 3 hours of sleep = nonfunctioning katholeenie.

So. Some lunch, and then movies and pinching out salt & peppers. And probably some dog snuggling, because they are WIPED OUT from the adventure yesterday/this morning. I LOVE tired dogs. Gus didn't even raise his head when I asked if he wanted to go out. Normal reaction is to launch off the floor and be at my side (across the room from where he was laying) before I get the whole 'Do you want to go out" out. heh.

Hi peeps! First off, yay for college football season! The Noles game was fun, but here was the highlight:

Manuel (FSU QB) finished up and FSU put in Clint Trickett for his first shot as a Seminole back-up QB. On his very first pass, he throws a TD and they show the reaction of his dad, Rick Trickett, who is FSU's O-line coach. Priceless.

Bummed to see the Ducks go down. Believe it or not, I loved their uniforms too.

Raced a 10K this morning. Ideal weather and relatively flat course and I brought it in at 45:48. Not ideal, but I am definitely moving in the right direction - particularly on tired legs, etc. So I'll take it. I think I was 3rd female, but I'm not sure - I didn't even get my chip. It was a childhood cancer fundraiser - not a competitve race. It was pretty darn awesome. And let me tell you, it is hard to wimp out in a race when the honorary starters are kids (aged 2 to 17) who are currently undergoing aggressive cancer treatment. Anyway, nice event and a solid race, so I am happy. This evening I am getting together with a couple girlfriends to catch up. Should be nice.

Morning, all. I'm getting ready to head to the finish line of our local marathon to help the chip timing guy. I'm slathered in sunscreen after getting burnt to a crisp at the Mizzou-Miami (Ohio) game on Saturday. It wasn't a fantastic game, though Mizzou won, but I go to games so infrequently, that I wanted to stay for the whole thing. Full sun and hot and I'm in a great deal of pain right now. I hope that the sunscreen works because I'm already miserable.

Saw The Help yesterday with some of my girlfriends. It was very powerful; I'm glad I saw it.

Quick breakfast before I head out. Love to the newlyweds and to all the rest of you.
