Nice day for a run. Big, bright, full moon (of course).

I wasn't looking forward to these interval repeats, but I guess I never look forward to them, and it seems like they always go just fine.

Today's plan called for 5x1000m within a 9 mile run -- the intervals were run at 4:12, 4:05, 4:07, 4:08, 4:02 (about 6:39/mi).

Stats: 9.2 miles 1:11 (7:45/mi avg)

I guess I'll cross post to that other site. Sorry for those of you who read both.

Dog bite (very minor)...
Message to self, avoid running in the countryside of western NC while on business trip.
Ran 12.5 hilly, hilly, muggy miles in the Conover NC area today 1:54:54 (9:15 pace AHR 152). First 4 miles I decided to head out a country road. Between miles 2 and 3, in the dark at 4 something am, two dogs came hoofing, and woofing after me. I look straight ahead, puffed myself up and said "NO" but a bit (or should I say a bite) too late. One tooth in the hammy (). Drew blood but is minor. Did not get a look at who did it. They did back away after the "NO". The Dog Whisperer always says to emit "I'm alpha and in control vibes" That kinda worked. coulda been worse. Since this was a main drag I would have thought the dogs would be contained.. nooo.. Must have been the full moon.

Good Day Masters,

Taking the day off from work but still got up ridiculously early to run 6 @ 8:47 pace and then off to the Y for circuit and back home by 6:00 to get the kids ready for school. Gonna go to school to eat lunch with them for the first time this year. Then, I think I'll start my 2006 taxes.... I love extensions but sometimes get a bit carried away... especially when Sam owes me.

Good runs all!!!

No running for me today -- I am on ambulance duty every Wednesday morning from 6am - noon. Tomorrow I do the second training in the "60 minute" program by Switzer. I'm really looking forward to it! I think it's helpful to go along with a program, especially since I don't have a running buddy to help motivate me.
I actually ran this morning, only 2 miles though to the gym then a half mile home. Yeah, yeah how can it be 2 miles one way and a half the other?
Of course I made it be 2 miles by going the opposite direction from it then looping back. In the gym I did 1 hour of various weights and abs.
Late shift again tomorrow, going to run again in the AM.

((((Perch's hammy)))) I run on country roads also and keep saying I need to get and carry along some type of pepper spray incase a dog comes after me. I've had a few walk out to the road towards me before, but the few that are loose on my running routes are so old that I think once they walk out to the road, they don't even have the energy left to bark. All the ones that I've encountered that are barkers are fenced, so I'm thankful for that.

I'll get in a run after work at the gym. Supposed to hit 100 or real close to it today, so to the gym it is.

good morning.

4 miles at the track that included some fast/slow 200s followed by some ab work. The temp was only 49 degrees at 6:30 a.m. Perch, please take care of that bite wound.

Base building has, at long last, ended. Movin' on up. Kind of a Whitlockish w/o, running up "Cemetary Hill." Not in the cemetary; leading to.

6x200 hills @ 10k effort (whatever that may be. Just gave it some effort)
(55,54,52,54,53,52)

2k w/u and c/d for 5k total

On the c/d home, I ran past a couple walking. He said, "Tough hill, eh?" "No, but the one coming is." Then I stopped as there was a hillside chockFUL of blackberries. Snarf, snarf. Oh-so-sweet in the morning sun. He says, "Hey, no snacking!" Then they joined me. Think I'm turning purplish.

Someone mentioned you can't access Profiles any longer on CR. I haven't checked that out myself. If so, I say fluff them.

Yes, bites must be looked at. Please, perch.
Hally, ya got 'er done. Doesn't matter how. Cute avatar.

Gotta eat.

Yu'ze peeple r runnin mosheens. Good work.

It sure feels like I'm in the groundhog day movie. "Rise and shine campers....it's going to be hot and humid....it's hot and humid here everyday." Today is 30 straight days over 90 degrees, with most wellll over 90 and several over 100. I'll be out braving it later this afternoon. It is hill day on my schedule, but the hill I typically do repeats on is paved and the pavement is just blistering my feet lately. I'm going to switch to my Friday workout and do 6x600m, with 100m recovery. I can do that on plush grass at the nearby soccer fields. 2 mile w/u and 2 mile c/d, for a total of 4 miles plus 4200m, whatever that totals. It's like government work......close is good enough until there is a congressional hearing.

Hey Perch, no such thing as a "minor" dog bite, have that thing checked out.

9 miles in the woods early today in 1:27, I also was surprised by a couple of dogs in an area where I'd never seen any before, but they weren't defending their turf, so they turned and ran away after I did my best Alpha dog imitation. (Dog Days of August, maybe).

Paid a guy $200 this morning to climb and limb part of a tree that had grown over the past few years to partially block the satellite dish to the point of the thing only working under the best of conditions. We'll see if it works. (Personally, other than a ball game or an occasional movie, you can have TV, but the little woman likes it, so when momma's happy, everybody's happy if ya know what I mean)

I cut and pasted my H2C RR over in the Kick race report forum, I like the way we masters did it at CR better, posting 'em in our own forum. We're too old to follow rules anyway.

See ya later

Weather broke here in mid country. my lunch run was at 75 instead of 90. It felt glorius. I ended up with five instead of four in 49:55 for a pace of 9:59. First time under ten this ten through.

Perch I also put this on the other site, I'd watch out for excessive hair growth around the next full moon. got any gypsies left in NC?

Johnny brings up a topic that might be worth discussing (yeah, johnny does that once in awhile ) : posting our race reports. I understand the desire of the moderators, such as our wonderful duckgeek , to post them on the race report forum, but I think that most of us boomer transplants have always liked being able to basically hit one forum for the majority of our interaction with each other. I know when I post a RR, I appreciate the feedback of fellow boomers and, for lack of a tactful way of saying this . . . I don't particularly care if people I don't know read my reports or comment. In a forum like CR that was huge, I really only stuck to the postings at B&B and read those RR's. I wouldn't go to the RR forum and read any of those. And when you compare that a boomer's RR that is posted on the B&B forum will receive at least two pages, if not more, of feedback on how you did on your race, compared to very few comments on most RR's in the race report forum, I think that is a big part of why boomers prefer to post them on our own forum. We want the feedback from our fellow boomers and we know that most boomers just stick to their own forum and either don't want to or don't have the time to go checking out all the other forums in a big forum such as CR and I suspect that as the changes in CR are happening, the population over here is going to get real big as well.
I think we can pretty much make the Masters forum how we want and I don't see any reason why we can't have more than just the "daily check in" thread here. Why can't we also use this Masters Forum to post our race reports, our questions/advice, our off-topic questions , etc. Just basically keep doing it the way we've done it on CR? I know that if we do end up making this a permanent home for those who don't want to adapt to the changes that Active is making at CR, there has been interest in doing the Intrepid thread over here, I imagine we'd do the Monthly mileage thread, etc.
does this make sense or am I too verbose with too many run-on sentences?

I think we can surely do that. I also take a little extra time to post my dailys over in the other daily run report thingy. At the moment there are only about six -10 daily posters. I like connecting with them too.

So that intimate feeling is preserved mush what it was like in CR about five years ago. As to Race reports here bring them on try to stop us from making the master's forum just how we like it. That's why they are calling them running clubs I believe.

Don't forget though a lot of those young whipper snappers can benifit greatly from our wisdom.

yes, and they can come over here to read our reports if they'd like like johnny said, we are too old to change our ways!

But I do hear what you are saying and I imagine that is why wonderful moderators, such as duckgeek , prefer RR's posted on that particular forum - so everyone that is over there reading them, can benefit from reading reports from newbies and wise-asses . . . . I mean wise-ones, like ourselves.
