morning all

I'm freezing my knockers off here at work.

I also need a quick 10$ secret santa gift.

I'm still hungry for meat balls.

QOD - I don't think there's much I haven't tried that is relatively mainstream. I like food

Kristi - all my thoughts out to you all, I'm glad you have a time line and plan of attack. Enjoy those drinks!!!

Best wishes to KJ and family...

QOD: I've never been big on seafood. So there are tons of kinds of fish I've never eaten. I'll eat shrimp, but that's about it. I know I've had crab and lobster before, albeit extremely infrequently. I also know I've had tuna. I just don't like any of those things. However, I don't think I've ever eaten salmon. That's one of the more common food fishes, right?

I just had a meltdown in the shower. I am not a crier- I can go for a couple of years without crying actually, but I think the reality of everything just hit me. I have been through a lot of crap in my life, but never, ever, did I think there would be as much as a 6% chance my child would not survive surgery (those are the current odds). This has been the longest 47 days of my life.

((((KJ)))) ~~~~~~~~Good Vibes coming your way!~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can't think of anything ordinary that I haven't tried. I eat everything.

I had spaghetti last night and it seemed woefully inadequate without meatballs.

Oh, Bob...you're missing out! Salmon is wonderful, especially when done on a cedar plank!

I can't think of any common foods I haven't tried. Okra, maybe. Yes, I haven't tried that. I don't think. But I suppose that's only considered common in certain areas of the world.

KJ, lots of good wishes going your way! My nephew Matt had to have open heart surgery when he was barely 6 months old and he was in over Christmas. My poor sister. But he's in his early 20s now and just as silly and full of life as ever!

Oh man. That stuff is awesome!!!

I don't like crab or lobster. Or hot shrimp (I'll eat it as cocktail though, if the sauce has lots of horseradish). Don't like the snot textured seafood either. Apparently shelled sea food and I aren't friendly. I think it's a texture issue.

I've also not had any of that red velvet cake stuff you guys talk about.

QOD: split pea soup, anything mint-chocolate.

Brussel sprouts - frozen ones? ewwww. Fresh are soooooooo much better.

Or similarly in a thin cedar wrap... YUM!!!

Hugs KJ!!! I can't wait for the time when you and Will and the kiddos are on a trip out here and we're all brunching together. Homemade orange flavored doughnuts for everyone!

DH LOVES brussel sprouts. I always keep a few of the steamer bags of them in the freezer and he will cook them up, throw some butter on them and eat the whole bag as a snack!

THIS. Exactly!!!

Brussell sprouts - they sort of taste like steamed broccoli to me. Put some cheese on them and I can handle 'em!

Bob - I dislike most seafood. I cannot stand a strong fishy taste. Yuck. Salmon is even too strong for me. Grouper on the other hand - good stuff!

Tilapia is another good mild fish to try. It takes on the flavors of whatever you cook it with. We like ours cajun style.

(((((KJ))))) Be sure to utilize all of the hospital services available to you if you need them. You and your husband don't have to try to do it all on your own. The social workers and child life specialists can be particularly useful for the non-medical side of things. The child life specialists can help you explain things to Emerson at a level she can understand if you are having trouble doing so, for example. Social workers help connect families to services even if not directly related to the medical care for the child.

QOD- organ meats. My parents don't like them so they never gave them to us. I'm just as happy to leave them be.

I eat everything. Explains a lot.

I have a massive headache right now.
