Mmmmm. Meatballs. I like them with italian sausage mixed in.

Nah. Brown up the sausages, then add them to the gravy as it is simmering. Have I mentioned I married into a very Italian family. So much so that I can not thing of a good beer pairing. Cabernet, or Sangiovese. Or Chianti.

Peroni? Moretti?

Sometimes I crunch up saltine crackers to use in my meatballs. And sometimes I add parmesan cheese. I don't often meet a meatball that I don't like, I'll tell you that much. Funny, we had some at our lunch meeting yesterday.

Biggest Loser was good last night, even though they really drag it out now. The guy I wanted to win did. I don't think his weight loss percentage was as good as the guy who won at home, though. Still, he looked and seemed fantastic. I find the guys always seem to lose more than the girls.

I got a call last night from an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time. She's organizing a 40th birthday party for another friend that I haven't seen in forever. I really want go to! It'd be a long drive, just over 5 hours. But it sure sounds like it'd be great.

QOD: what have you never eaten...that maybe in retrospect seems so common you might have by now? Why haven't you tried it?

Woot! This thread is making me hungry! Well, it was. Just took DH to Ocean Grill for lunch and I had a sauteed shrimp special on pesto rice and roasted artichoke hearts. MMMM. Beats the sub I usually have.

COunt me in on the meatball making this weekend, you all made me hungry. Litch my brother makes them like your wife and yeah, they are way way better with the mixed meats. But I still swear by the stuffed meatballs!!

Love that there is some fun going on in this fun thread today!! Woot woot!

QOD: Hmmm can't think of anything. Well there are some fruits that people might find common that I don't eat/may have never had. I know I hadn't had a rasberry till I was about 25 or so, possibly older.

Split pea soup with ham....so so yummy!!

Add me to the pea soup and eggnog virgins. No interest in either, really. They both just sound...not at all tasty.. /shudder. Meatballs on the other hand.. /drool. Never made my own but that could easily change since I am experimenting in the kitchen a little these days.

a list of foods I've never eaten

split pea soup and ham, I don't like peas, soup or ham

egg nog ew

pumpkin anything I'm to afraid to try it

herring

Oh, geez, spaghetti and meatballs? I guess this week IS the week of holiday indulgence - yesterday was that fab Indian buffet to celebrate a co-worker's retirement. Today is another work-related celebration of a co-worker's birthday (Chinese food here) then a get-together with some of my fantasy football peeps (beer and barfood), then tomorrow is the holiday/Christmas work shindig (brunchy goodness) and some possibly more beer and drinks with co-workers informally after work. I can feel the pounds already globbing on *burp*

QOD - can't think of a singular item that I haven't eaten like meatballs. I guess I'm going to have to go the brand name route here - I have never had Life Cereal (despite all Mikey's pleas). Nor have I had any of the food items at a Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral, Cheesecake Factory or a Buffalo Wild Wings

QOD: brussel sprouts. I think I might like them, but I'm just nervous about cooking them.

Hi.....just an update. Grayson is having surgery on Monday so he'll be spending his first Christmas at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (as will DH and I). My mom is flying in on Sunday and will stay with Emersen. I have to take him to LA tomorrow to meet with the surgeon and do pre-op stuff. He had an impromptu visit with the cardiologist yesterday when we were there for Emersen's appointment (don't ask...I can't even go there right now) and the cardio decided we should go ahead. About an hour after getting that news DH got on a plane for Germany but he's coming home on Friday. This afternoon I have a babysitter coming and I'm going to get a massage and to have several margaritas with a girlfriend.

I know this is for the best, and will hopefully "fix" everything, but this is not how I imagined our holidays.

The trick is not to over-cook them. Lovely with a bit a bacon.

KJ I am glad you have a definite plan. I know it isn't the ideal way to spend theholidays but the kids don't know the 25th is Christmas, I say you just do a big old redo once hs is home!! And just think, he will be so much happier and healthier and it really will be an amzing holiday for your family! Oh and I am really glad you are getting a break for a massage and some drinks!!! Please don't forget to take care of yourself, you have a lot on your plate my friend!!

DH LOVES brussel sprouts. I always keep a few of the steamer bags of them in the freezer and he will cook them up, throw some butter on them and eat the whole bag as a snack!

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((KJ)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

((((KJ and GRAYSON)))) I couldn't agree more with Beaker. This holiday will be hard, but it will insure the next is wonderful!

Before I forget....hugs to Moe's mom. She's in my thoughts. Missy- did you have your weekend away to sleep yet?

QOD: Caviar. After watching Dh spit it out* there was no way I was going to try it.

*even if he doesn't like something, he can get a bite of it down. Caviar he just could NOT.

I've tried egg nog, but think it's disgusting. Even the stuff my brother makes from scratch that has tons of whiskey involved. blech.
