Ha - I still can't believe you've never had meatballs, wippy. A meatball dinner should be on your short list.

I hear you on the weather. It was -10 this morning. No matter how you look at it, that is just not right.
 
Fun for me? DH's birthday. I am trying to organize a happy hour as we "speak."

I have ground beef thawed in the fridge so I may make some meat balls tonight. Can I use panko?

Fun today: annual Christmas Trivia and pizza lunch. I brought salad in a feeble attempt to eat less pizza. 
 
Wishing everyone at least a bit of fun to report today and at least a little less not fun too. If those two wishes meet in the middle, we'll be all right!

Yes, you can...but bread soaked in milk is better. 
 
howdy peeps. Went to see my mother, she wasn't great when I got there and apparently kept my father awake most of the night calling him on the phone (he went home shortly after I got there.) I didn't sleep well and came into work early so I can leave early.

Wippy - you could use panko, but you can also soak some torn bread in milk and use that to help bind them together. I don't know if panko would make them too dry or not? Maybe just add a little at a time?
 
Happy hour sounds good. DH and I have cocktails with the Uni Pres tonight. Should be fun!

 My wife makes the best meatballs on the planet. No joke. They are like crack. And there is no recipe - learned from her mom. She uses breadcrumbs instead of torn up bread. A lot more garlic then in the recipe posted, uses ground beef, ground pork, and ground veal, eggs, onions, lots of herbs.

I use bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic and herbs too. Never tried mixing up the meats, but that does sound delish, Litch.

Fun: J and I got out to see Ben Folds at the Beacon last night. Despite the cold, it felt great to walk up to and home from the theatre (just about a mile away) + that man always puts on a phenomenal show!
 
Fun: In less than a week I'll be with the fam down in OBX!!!!

Good news posted by Econo on FB last night. Son came through 7.5 hour surgery well and the doctor is hoping for a full recovery. <img alt="icon_santa.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/icon_santa.gif">

Our "free" cable got disconnected yesterday so I put in an order with Dish Network for installation on Saturday morning. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
 
I wanted to use our new treadmill last night, but DW wanted to snuggle up and watch a chick flick after we got the kids down. She owes me one, because that movie (Nights in Rodanthe with Diane Lane and Richard Gere) absolutely sucked. The snuggling was nice though, and Porter curled up on the other side of me for some quality time.

Nah. Brown up the sausages, then add them to the gravy as it is simmering. Have I mentioned I married into a very Italian family. So much so that I can not thing of a good beer pairing. Cabernet, or Sangiovese. Or Chianti.
 
My grilled chicken salad I have for lunch is gonna suck.

I very much want meatballs now.
 
My sis called and asked if I wanted potato leek soup tonight. We're going to bake cookies after I visit my mother. 
 
Potato leek soup couldn't sound less appealing. Heh. She said she's got a ton of potatoes her friend gave her leftover from latke making...I suggested baked potato soup instead, to which DSis said....oooooo everything is better with bacon! ok!
