5 miles run while the moon was casting shadows of the runners ahead of me, so I chased them.

At coffee this morning, the sun shone on Ralph's face and his silhouette was striking below the Panera art.

Good morning everyone. I have a strange day today, and will be running between 12-3. Odd to do that in the middle of the day, but I have to do my Board meeting tonight so this was the only time I could fit it in. I'm looking forward to running, since I took a rest day yesterday. Hope all of you are well, and that those with the creeping crud are starting to improve.

Where is everybody?

12.5 km running down The Strip past the airport, over the highway, (into the 7-11), and turning around at an outlet mall. Terrain ranged from unpaved rocky shoulder to concrete sidewalk to glossy marble to escalators. Another busy day of conferencing on the menu.

Don't forget, there is a full Lunar Eclipse happening tonight. Here on the East Coast it's supposed to be full from around 10:15 PM to midnight or so. Check your local news for specific times in your area.

I was running when the last one occurred because it was early morning (early last year?). This one I'll miss being an early riser.

I ran 10.25 miles this morning with negative splits. Just wanted to run real easy going out and GA or so coming back. The first 5 miles at around 9:45 to 9:50 min/mile and an HR of 132ish. The last 5+ miles at around 8:45 to 8:50 min/mile pace and an HR of 148ish.

IRC. 64 and 74%.

4+ miles at the track running fast with The Administrators.

I've been having terrible trouble sleeping. My goal for this week is to learn to sleep again.

I've been having trouble sleeping, too!
I am trying to blame my asthma medicine, hormones, and my bladder. I took one Tylenol PM on Monday night and was unable to make the 0530 run but, I did sleep well Monday night AND Tuesday night.

Maybe you just need one really good night's sleep to let your body remember how to sleep?

I'll let you know if that works for me.

I went through a terrible period of not sleeping during a recent stressful time (stepkids -- don't ask). Finally I got a relaxation CD and put it on just as I was climbing into bed, and it really helped tremendously! A guy with a soothing voice starts helping you by relaxing your toes, relaxing your heels, relaxing your ankles, etc, all the way up your body. Then they play extremely soothing music and it has a heartbeat sound barely heard underneath. I was out cold, sound asleep, by the end of the first song. It really helped me a lot. Probably your local library has CDs like this so you could try one before you go out and spend money on one. It's probably healthier than taking a sleeping pill, at least at first try. Good luck!

Nice running today, including some MLR's. Bill, enjoy those conditions now, 'cause you know they won't last.

5 TM miles @ 8:00 m/M for me (outside temps below 0F, and that's not counting the wind chill). Middle 3 were at 7:30, with 0.5% incline, which I've been doing once a week for several weeks now. With the exception of one outlier week, my AHR in the last tempo mile has been inching down--today to 149 bpm, or about 85% of max.

I've been having trouble sleeping because of a certain young canine. But last night he slept for 6½ hours! He's only 8½ weeks old!

We saw a beautiful golden eagle majestically perched on a low branch overlooking the river. He was only about 50 ft from us so we stopped and took a good long look.

Good morning to all, am I the only person here who hasn't changed his/her avatar at least 2 or 3 times already?? Some seem to do it almost daily .

30 minutes of yoga this morning. Field work this PM, the beginning of a trend I don't think I'm going to like.

Sans, Earl Fee's "Complete guide to running-How to be a champion from 9 to 90" was delivered yesterday PM by one of hups minions. I've just started looking through it but it looks very interesting. Thanks for the tip again, oh international woman of mystery and intrigue.

WJ, I don't know if Geico is sponsering or not, but it sounds like the perfect fit. For some reason or other those cavemen just crack me up. (something about simple minds being easily entertained, I guess).
Actually the new running store in town is trying to do this and they met with my PT about him being one of the race sponsors. Come on down lab, WJ, econo too, everyone, the more the merrier . All-Sports Park, Tamster, is what was mentioned about start/finish, no idea of where the course would go from there. And yes, Tamster, I certainly do .

Barb, what are you taking for your asthma?

Albuterol gave me the jitters. I barely slept when I was on the full dose.

No running for me today. I trashed my quads in my relay on Saturday. Its best to take an extra day off.

Another gorgeous day here... Fortunate One, where are you? I thought you were in northern CA, but if you've got zero F and wind chill, then apparently not?

MustangSally, that's a nice run! I remember thinking the area out by the outlet mall would be a good run location. Fun assortment of surfaces you had.

This is my first avatar change since I started here... Just always liked the wolf but I like my plates better! Wish you could read the inscription on the holder "26.2" on the top line, and "Nothing Less Will Do" on the bottom. Hmmm, too bad I only have two marathons scheduled so far this year.

Even though this weather is like a gift, I'm gonna take a pass an do some speedwork on the TM tonight. Still feel like my 10k pace from last year is such an effort to hold onto, and less than two weeks to relay! I'll just do a couple more of these 10k pace intervals, then taper a bit. No sense forcing the issue, knowing me I'll just hurt myself.

I'm still excited over the prospect of a GP HM, Johnny! I even woke up at 1:30 this a.m. and that is what I was thinking about. A HM in the late fall will just work perfectly into my training this year.

I'm leaving work an hour early so I can get in my 5 miles and still be home by dinner time. Tomorrow is a full day of snow tubing. Can't wait! I haven't gone tubing for well over 15 years!

John - my son's pic along with his teacher is on the front page of the radio's website, if you feel like taking a peek.

Soundie - that's an excellent pic of you. It should be front page advertising for next years Birch Bay Marathon.

I forgot to comment on Mustang's outlet mall run. Very nice! Glad to see you are getting your miles in while on your trip. I'm not sure if it's the same Vegas outlet mall but sometime in mirc I'll tell you a taxi cab horror story I had in trying to get to one in Vegas. Would've been better off to run instead of ride and it probably rivals some of Econo's travel horror stories.
