Rise and Shine, got to bed reasonably early yesterday but woke up at 4am and tossed and turned until the alarm went off. Oh well, felt reasonably well for a nice cool 6.7 on the trails this morning. Kiddos are back to school today.

zrun -- Hate not sleeping. Nothing you can do. Good job getting out there. How old are your younguns?

Dan -- Good seeing you, and glad to hear you're getting some running in. Hope it holds.

zrun- .7?!?! I hope Rob don't see this! Nice job though.

Dan- Hope I'm not gonna jinx ya, but it sure does look like you are making some nice headway!!

Rob- Kinda tappery... just training for a 5K

Mom- 5K this Saturday, my 'A' 5k race for this year (i hope)

RA- I don't know if I could run anymore than I do now w/ my 7 day work week schedule...

I too was up at 4am... not tossing and turning, but cooking cereal ;)

Today [email protected]$$ coach said 3x800 in 3:15. Splits were 3:19, 3:13, 3:16. meh... I wished they were a little better than that, but it is an improvement over the last time I did 800s. Legs were a little sore today too. I kinda had a choppy run week last week. Oh well. W/ warm up and cool down I totaled 5 miles in 40:11. now to rush off to bed to prepare for another 12 hr shift... oh joy!

The 4am wake up must be cosmic. DD woke up complaining about something and hence I was up. So, too tired/lazy to get out early. May do a tempo run on the TM later but I have track tonight if DW gets back from CrossFit in time. May do both because I'm stupid (ref mad cow disease). Have to see what the day brings.

Work is still in the crapper and I may start doing a lot of travel, which will royally screw up my training. Same thing happened in 2008 - I went from 60 mpw to struggling to get in 40mpw.

BBS - nice job mixing and toasting. I wouldn't worry about those 800s. It's more likely that you are on the verge of over training and need some rest.

Chances - Was it a golden egg? Recovered from the tri get?

Dan - making progress?

zrun - Nice job on the trails. Note that I often round to the nearest integer to avoid the OCD wrath of Chances.

What is it with the 4am wake ups today?! Joining that club as the collie dog decided he needed to go out. And again hourly just about all morning. He's going senile, so I guess I can deal. At least he's not trying to bury his water dish.

Goose egg for me today. I was stressing about how I was going to fit everything in today. A wise friend reminded me I am tapering and I need to REST. Yes, she can spell it, but can she do it??? Might sneak out for an easy spin after dinner just to loosen up my legs.

I don't know if I was up at 4am but I did wake up in the middle of the night at some point, and it took a while to get back to sleep. Kind of annoying.

I finally tried a run today, just a little one, 2.67 miles at recovery run pace. I didn't wear the compression sleeve on the knee, but probably should have. I wasn't hobbling or anything out there, my form looked fine, but I definitely "felt" the knee. Lesson learned on that.

Oh well, one baby step on the road back. Hopefully to stay this time.

4boysmom - Nice pictures. You look too happy at the finish line. Also, your son has a nice T2 dismount and untanned feet.

Hawk - good news that you could get out and run. Perhaps you can get a sponsorship deal with CEP or 2XU?

So, I decided to hit the work gym for the treadmill love. Ended with 8 miles: 2 easy, 4 @ HM pace, 2 easy. I forgot to offset for the jog at the start so hit the 1 hour limit at 7:97 miles... ahhh. I guess that counts as a tempo run. Probably need to run faster than 9mpm as it was more comfortable than comfortably hard. I think I may have turned a corner on my fitness. Probably skip track else my calves will explode on the 4th 400.
