I suppose we wore Mike completely out by holding our little club together last week. :)

10 moh this morning. My body just refuses to come out of this summer funk. All my buddies are just plowing thru this heat and humidity while I continue to struggle. But I'm fortunate in that I'm not fighting injuries like so many.

Who the hell is Gichen Funakoshi?!

I'm baaaaack. 10 miles, 8 at tempo (7:48 avg pace), for an overall pace of 8:01. This was a wicked strong run for me. Conditions not too bad with upper 60's, 88% humidity.

Listen to your body, John. It's got you this far and knows its limits. Patience....

tw, you're putting together a nice string of w/o's lately. Good for you.

HI Mike, KS, TW, Tamster, Rip, Johnny and HappyFeat!!

I know how you feel, KS. We're nowhere near as hot as you have it, but the H&H have me dragging my tail considerably. I should be all raring to ramp up here, but this morning's 3 miles was a pure unmotivated slog. The only saving grace is that it's not going to last. Bet yours won't either!

Big reception on the lawn at work for the new employees is just winding down. Hot, but the predicted thunderstorms held off. Good eats!

Leave it to tomwhite to dig deep for trivia I agree, a string of good workouts for you recently.

no running or working outside today, woke up very tired & sore. Feel OK now, but it's too hot to run.

As I age, I find myself cruising along at a certain fitness level, when all of a sudden....boom, noticeable drop off--hope this isn't happening to you Ks

I've been wondering that myself Johnny. If it doesn't pick up in the fall weather I may start riding my bike again for a while.

I agree with Mike on this: "Listen to your body, John. It's got you this far and knows its limits. Patience...." You ask a lot of it and are able to meet the challenge. When it asks you ever so subtly to back off or to switch things up a bit, I think it's wise to do so.

Home from work - was mentally gearing up all day for what was going to be my first official attempt at running intervals during my run tonight. Now due to things I did and didn't eat this afternoon and on the way home from work, running doesn't sound good to me now. Self sabotage? Maybe, but I really need to start some more definitive work on getting faster before September besides the way I've been going about it of just running somewhat faster on Mondays and sometimes Wednesdays. Well, I'll change into my running clothes and hopefully my tummy will settle down so I can enjoy the run whatever the pace.

Home from official first interval run - it went okay I guess. Ran 3 miles to warm up: 11, 10:45, 10:30. Then ran four 1/4 mile sprints with a couple minutes walk in between. The goal pace was to be 9:50. I think it will take some practice to get that part down. My first one was way too fast and the rest were progressively slower. Then I ended up running the 5th mile at 10 mpm which was faster than I planned, but didn't feel fast after those sprints. So I slowed down, but then was inspired to one more 1/4 mile sprint in the 6th mile; otherwise the last 3 were at 10:30 until I got to a quarter mile from home, when I suddenly didn't feel very good - so I walked. 8 miles total.
