I can call it work-around Wednesday... sigh....

Good morning friends. Opie, yes, good you checked in... because if nothing else I wanted to mention I got a new pair of Brooks shoes! I'm transitioning to a lighter shoe (since I'm now a lighter me) and the Glycerin 8's have been feeling rather clunky. So I ran in my new Ghost 3 pair and they felt great! I actually had to size down in them as well, odd. But I thought you might appreciate the feedback.

6.15 miles this morning in the older shoes, so they were rather efforted miles unfortunately. Still, an overall average pace of 9:11 isn't bad (for me, that is). I'll be wearing my Mizuno's for this weekend's half though. I like those shoes quite a bit as well.

Hello everyone

I have been in Perth Scotland with limited computer access and did not return home until Monday night. My race went VERY badly with a short version as follows

Total time 8.33.24 hitting halfway in 4hours. From there my legs fell apart and I slowed badly.

www.gobi70.word...age for me will come in just short of 270

ks, you mileage hound! I've been noticing all these two-fers you've been doing. Nice pacing too. When is that marathon happening?

Hi karl - happy spinning. Good for you to be patient.

OM - that happens to me sometimes, not being able to see the cursor, etc. Usually a restart of the browser makes it go away. Luckily for me it's a rare event. Thanks for the extra effort though. We like having you around. Nice run, btw. You have a Half coming up this w/e, right?

8 miles for me today, 6 at tempo. Felt greta. 8:14 overall avg pace. This was the first day in several we didn't have string gusty winds. It was a nice sunny morning, around 30F, and warming up fast. My cold is getting better. How's yours coming along, Erika?

Sounds like IRC, KS!

OM.... I have problems sometimes posting from home (not work for some reason). I just keep refreshing the screen until I can get a cursor in the reply box.

Looking great, Mike!

Hi TW! Hi Opie!

Sorry to hear your race wasn't what you'd hoped for, Gobi. Glad the bod's going to recover OK.

Will do a ~10K trail run in the sunshine after work... can hardly wait!!!

Mike - sometimes it just because I don't have time to do the complete mileage before or after work. Sometimes not :)

I have been having trouble lately too with trying to reply. I have to refresh browser several times and then seems ok.

Take care Gobi. You know all races aren't going to be the best.

Nice run there Mike.

I love new running shoes. Sounds like a smart choice for you OM. I always run in light weight trainers. These new NB 890's are going to be the bomb.

Morning all....thanks for checkin in Opie....you seem, at least, to have a pretty good attitude about being injured. This time next month it'll all be in the past.

Lets see, if I run 9.5 miles tomorrow, I'll have 150 for the month...probably won't happen though.

Nice racin' anyway Gobi

5.6 miles in the woods, no rain, supposed to be almost 70°F this afternoon. I'll believe it when I see (or feel) it.

wow, Johnny, that's some impressive mileage! You've made a strong comeback.

Gobi, sorry your race wasn't what you hoped for. You are still a running stud in my book.

nice mileage for you also, KS. You will do that 2 miles later, right?

my monthly mileage should be better than it is figuring as how I have a marathon in less than 3 months. I have to get in 11.5 miles between today and tomorrow just to hit 100. My cold and sinus stuff really kicked my butt these last 10 days or so. At mid month I was on track for a much better month. I guess I'll seek solace in the fact that my runs have been a better quality with the interval work.

since it's usually warmer down in medford than back in GP, it should feel like 70 this afternoon, so the plan is to knock off work a little early and go run the bike path. mile intervals today and the path is a good place to do those.

If my math is right, Gobi still avg 8:14 pace for over 62 miles!!

TW, is that shooting and poolrunning a combined event?

Hi OM, IRM, and HEME

I did a double progression run this morning on the treadmill. (2% incline) Started at 8:34 pace and went .1 mph faster every .2 miles

until I was running 6:44 pace and got to 4 miles. I then started over at 8:00 pace and did the same until I was running 6:18 pace at the end of the hour. Ended up with

8.17 miles before doing a warmdown of .83 to get an even 9 mles in 66:45.

I am also having a great mileage month. I should be a little over 272 miles running between 8 and 9.5 miles everyday except 2 where I did 7.3 and 12.

refresh.... refresh..... refresh.... nope, still not taking....

Yes, Mike, my half is this Sunday. I'm running with a group of six other women, and all during our training I've been saying this race is going to be a piece of cake. So this past Sunday we decorated our matching shirts:

OM, good to hear you like the Ghost 3. Nice shirt you got, too. If I were you, I would just do short speedy stuff in the Ghost for a while. Weird about the sizing because I had to size up in the original Ghost.

Tamster, you've got plenty of time to peak for Grandma's. Relax. Be happy being a runner and I will live vicariously through you and everyone else here!

Yeah, I'm planning on wearing the Mizuno's on Sunday. I wore the Ghosts yesterday and had quite an effortlessly speedy 4-miler, and now I see why. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks Opie. I appreciate your vote of confidence for me. When I was running my 14 miles this weekend, I was thinking of our Newport marathon and how you and ran together for so much of it. You really helped keep me on pace and were so instrumental in helping me achieve the PR that I did. I know I kind of joke around with you about beating you (not that we were racing against each other, but you know what I mean) but seriously, I don't think I would have felt as good as I did towards the end there to keep going strong, had you not kept me at a reasonable pace for the miles before that. I know I had good training too, but that can all go out the window sometimes if you run too fast in the first 20. and then as I was thinking of this, I thought "how am I going to run as good a race in Duluth without Opie there??!!" {gulp}

H'llo, Masterfuls.

Spring has officially arrived in Southern New Hampshire because the Windham Rail Trail is open for business. Actually, it never closes, but today was the first day I felt confident that I could run on it. There is some mild snow buildup in spots, but overall it was great to be back on that trail.

 Four miles.

 OrangeMat, love the shirt....

Ditto! Hiya, Baba!!!

Joined the Wed night trail group for their first run that didn't need headlamps. Lots of hills, mud, roots and rocks and a very fast crowd, with some stretches along very narrow trails on the top of steep embankments. Thankfully there was one other woman who was almost as slow as me, and a nice guy who ran sweep, so I didn't get left behind. Apparently, they took the mountain-goat route this week just for me.

Hehe... loved every minute of it!!!

The leader promised me there's be more people my speed in the coming weeks.

You finally got a day off from running in the rain - whoo hooo! Did you get the warm afternoon as predicted?

I'm getting all the rain instead of you today. We've had intermittent rain, but not so far when I've been out running.

I'm on tap for 8 miles tonight and I might opt for the TM. Unlike alot of folks who dislike it, I have a nice rapport with mine.

It's a cozy setup with a nice view and big roll-up garage door so it's like being outside, but not.

Here's my TM view when the trees are leafed out.
