To paraphrase Col. Potter from M*A*S*H, both useful techniques, but hardly interchangeable.

irun, I totally get what you mean about drawing that lead foot backward, though I do it for a different reason. For me, I do it consciously (and continuously) to activate my core, and primarily with my right leg, since that's the side that I have issues with. That's how I've gotten over that persistent sacrum pain that was inhibiting my longer distance running, as well as increases in speed. Yes, proper form really is key.

I ran 5 miles in the park today in 45:30, then a bit more at a cooldown pace of ~10 min/mile. 5.7 miles in total, though I wasn't paying attention to how far I went in the cooldown. It just felt like it was enough, and then I looked at the watch. Glad that it came to a nice round tenth like that.

Dove, it is very cool that your bib number matches your Maniac number like that. Totally auspicious! I am so excited for your major event this weekend!! Yeah, I guess I am somewhat of an ultra-wannabe.... but for now, I'll live vicariously through you and others like you.

Have a great day, all!
