Morning peeps.

I am up bright and early working at home rather than running. I have my first interval workout and decided to wait until the sun rises to hit the streets since it is still pretty icy out there. I just really didn't want to have to attempt .5 mile repeats on the treadmill if possible. Hopefully the temps will be bearable in an hour or so.

Other than that, it should be a relatively uneventful day for me today.

morning everyone

we had the time trial last night. Since 1 lap is 0.38 miles, the whole 1 mile, 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile doesn't work out the best so we did 3, 2, 1 laps. Per normal, the speed kills my lungs and I ended up coughing all darn night long. However, I did better than I have before on the time trial so I am happy with that.

Lap 1: 2:44

Lap 2: 2:47

Lap 3: 2:41

so that works out to be about a 7:11 mile - a little better than prior mile attempts in race situations (i hate miles)

Interval 2:

Lap 1: 2:36

Lap 2: 2:41

6:57 pace overall

Interval 3:

2:32 - 6:40 pace

So i'll take it

some general aerobic miles - supposed to be above freezing today! I am also going to pick up Your Fitness Evolved for the Kinect today :)

Greetings, everyone.

It's day 1 of tree-removal services at my place, so I am burning a few vacation days. Hope the guys arrive soon. I"m very excited about getting things moving on that project.

It's 19 degrees here. 19!! Yuck. I'll go for a run outdoors today, but not until the afternoon when the temps are more reasonable! :)

Biggest Loser: I was surprised to see it back on for a new season last night. Without spilling the beans, does anyone else find the fitness challenges to almost be cruel to people that aren't in shape?! I remember watching one part and thinking "You know.. that would be challenging to any of us after a while...". Ouch!

-5 this morning. Gah. I know I shouldn't complain because we've had such a mild winter, but I am just not a -5 kind of girl.

BUT...guess who picked up a space heater for her office????? I am roasty toasty with it whirring under my desk.

Now I just need to make sure my boots don't melt off my feet.

Hey there!!! Morning ladies and all who follow!!

First really cold day has arrived! So getting out of bed was a battle and it didn't happen in enough time to run before work. But I have been doing well with my night time runs. I managed a really nice 2.5 miler last night and honestly the only reason I stopped was I heard Aiden yelling for me! I am really surprised how well my body is responding to running again, I thought I would be barely able to eek out a mile. So hopefully I can stay healthy and keep working hard!

Off to go look busy, this week will be really slow, ramping back up at work next week!

Ailarie - yep. lots of barfing last night.

Crap night of sleep. I really need Dh to go back to work so my sleep schedule can go back to normal. (He works 3rd, so him 'sleeping in' means lots of squirming around at 2am.)

Didn't run this morning because of oversleeping. (Well, not really sleeping. Brain kicked in. Not really awake though.) Anyway, had to get up and tend the boy so he wouldn't explode. ANd then do some training, and hten breakfast.

What's the coldest temps you've run in?

Me? 17 below. But since we got the tm, since I don't need to go out in that, I sort of wimp out and just stay on the tm. Part of that is over the last few years we've been getting A LOT more ice than ever before, so it just isn't safe that way either. And my raynouds has been worse the last few years too. Avoiding being chilled is a good thing.

It's chilly here too, but I guess I can't complain when compraed to what some of you guys are facing. It was 13* here this morning, and it was 23* when I did my run yesterday. But that's not too bad when you're properly bundled up, and I only ran 3 miles yesterday, so it was no big deal. It'll be in the 20s again this evening when I run, and it'll be another half hour-ish thing...

Brandy is quite speedy...

Good morning!

I woke up with a headache, but some advil, breakfast, and coffee seems to be taking care of most of it. I don't get migraines, so I guess I can't complain too much, but even normal headaches are annoying at best.

I need to get back on a fitness routine here soon, but anything substantial will have to wait until we get moved. Most of my fitness gear is packed up and I still need to get new running shoes anyway. I also need new running capris. I have a gift card to Kohl's that was given as a Christmas gift, so maybe that's what I will spend it on. In the meantime, I am trying to eat better by having breakfast at home instead of getting a bagel when I get my coffee, and by packing my lunches again.

I finished posting up photos from the road trip on FB. Just under 100 of the 225ish that are on my camera made it to the album, I know Moonie has even more of his own. Here are a few of my favorites (can you believe these were all taken by my cell phone?):

Sunset over the Mojave Desert on our first day (this inspired me to try for sunset pictures each night of the trip). I love that I managed to capture the crescent moon and Venus:

QOD- air temp 4*, wind chill -11*. Both the same day for a 5k called the Fantastic Frigid 5K, had it not been a race I would not have done it. It doesn't often get that cold where I live, maybe once or twice a year, for which I am glad.

Morning all. 2 miles on the indoor track. I am running faster than I expect when I run, but my endurance is shot and I am taking very frequent walk breaks. I should probably download the C25K again and try to do more structured walk/run intervals...or I should probably just relax about it for a few weeks. One of the two :)

Hey all! Love the pics!

Kath - barfing? Ouch.

Brandy - nice workout chica.

I too had an awesome workout this am. Scheduled for 80 minutes with tempo intervals - 6 x .5 miles at 7:17 pace with .25 recoveries.

Warmup: 3.1 miles (8:58 pace)

Intervals: 7:13, 7:15, 7:15, 7:16, 7:12 and 7:08

Cooldown: 2.1 (8:51 pace)

Not too shabby. My HR was in a really good place the whole time too. Fun to finally start some workouts!! This is my first one since I started base-building a few weeks ago.

QOD: Not sure. But frigid. I live in Wisconsin. It gets super cold and super windy. Boo. Today was not nearly as bad as yesterday though, so hopefully all of you east coasters will see a minor warm-up tomorrow.

Good morning!

Well workout yesterday at the Y was fine. A little higher resistance while biking... gosh I almost sweated!! :D

Today is strength - it is all body-weight stuff and then some specific stuff for the ol' hip and knee. REALLY happy how the knee is handling the increase in activity!

QOD - absolutely no idea. I don't record much.

Morning all! I got in a brisk 5.8 mi last night before having to hit the grocery store; I really felt quite alive during and after the run, something I certainly needed. Failed on the morning run but will squeeze one in after work again and have also set up a few running meet-ups for the remainder of the week/weekend so I don't bail anymore.

Tonya & KP - very happy to hear you're both back in the game and making progress!

Lori - I haven't had a chance to ask, how was Disney?? Did the boys love it? Or was Colin too young?

QOD - not really sure but cold doesn't keep me inside and we don't have a huge issue with ice remaining on the paths for long so there's no deterrent there either. I have tons of winter gear so it's really just a matter of layering a bit more.

Woot woot Cindi, I did see that on FB, nice stuffs!!!!

Maria it was fabulous! We went with 2 other families and had a blast! Colin loved it, he actually went on more rides than Aiden mainly because he couldn't protest :) But it was great, loved having friends there too, and it was the perfect mix of group activities and alone family time! I do have a funny video from the trip I have been asked to post on FB. We were doing a green screen pic of the kids and it ended up looking like they were swimming with Nemo. But in order to get Colin in position, I had to lay him down and them roll out of the way. I had no idea Mark was taping it and didn't realize I had an audience of about 10 people watching and giggling! Good times people, good times!

Um yeah, super duper cute puppy pics= awesome!!!!
