I planned of 15.25 miles this morning. Woke up very early to a tough morning of 82° and 65%. So I just ran easy to get the miles in. Got to 14 miles, felt okay, so decided to add a few miles and ended up withy 17.2 miles at 9:31 pace. Slow but steady, and the HR stayed down nicely except the last couple.

Wow bill. Very nice run in warm conditions!

I'm on my daughter's itouch - it's a little tricky as I have never used it for Internet stuff.

Went for a run and have know idea how far I went but will just have tobest guess based on a slow pace for 53 min. Wanted to go for an hour but ended back to the start so figure that was close enough.

I misses yesterdays post so will have to go try to nav there from this itouch. When I first brought up the masters page the pint was so tiny... Not sure how I got the bigger print.

I'll stop babbling now. Have a great day!

My run was close to Bill's just not as fast. I went out at 6:30 and it felt very comfortable. High 80's and moderate humidity. Got in 17 miles in 2:48 (about 9:55 pace) and felt fine the whole way. Spareribs

Hi, all!

Nice runs for everyone so far today!

Sorry to hear about your friend, Johnny. I'll keep good thoughts for him. You never know.

3 miles, down the road and back, with a couple of short breaks (one to gab with a neighbour). Started out quite sore in the ATs, but not at the sprain, so took it really slow for the first mile. Was OK by the turn around and even found some minor sproink on the return leg. Must try to work more stretching into the day.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Nice run Ribs. Almost three hours on your feet in high 80's is impressive. Out of curiosity, how and when do you hydrate?

As promised mariposai, here's a recap of our Peruvian dinner last night. First and foremost, the next time you're in Portland, you must visit Andina. From the location, atmosphere, service, and quality of the food, this is definitely one of the best restaurants in town. We had a magical evening. The ceviche was outstanding, one of the best I have ever had. The dinner menu has both tapas and main courses, with the entrees split into traditional or nuevo-Peruvian styles. We both selected a traditional dish, with Mrs. Labduck choosing lamb, and myself going for beef. They were both simple yet flavorful and complex. Neither one of us has had anything like these before. I of course ate all of mine, with Mrs. LD taking half of hers home. That means I'll get to eat that one too. And for dessert, I had Plato de Crema Quemada (three pots of creme brulee each highlighting a distinct Peruvian flavor), and Mrs. LD had Mousse de Valley Selva, which is layered tiers of chocolate (two kinds) and espresso mousses and meringue. Heavenly!

Rest day for me. Yard work and other household chores.

plato de crema sounds heavenly. we're heading to a latin american place tonight... just found it last week. i'm a fan of arepas now, and this weird cucumber/cilantro/gin drink.

drove to the group run with dawn painting the eastern horizon, and a lightning show on the western horizon... i was hoping we would get rained on, but no such luck. 14mi hilly, 8min pace. some big guns showed up again today, and some of my competition hung with them in a group, and they ran 7-flat for the whole thing, dammit. i'm definitely jealous... need.more.fitness.

so when i got home i got the bike out and did 18.7 hilly miles in 1:02.

working my way through gallon number 2 for the day, so far. i think nap time will hit at 6 liters.

p.s. - lab, a runner pal of mine is heading to portland and will run the 5k around the nike campus... next sunday i think he said? you racing it too?

Resting today. I woke up very stiff and sore, but as I've said before, at this time a year ago I was doing lots of treadmill miles, not fighting the heat. I have to keep reminding myself of that when I'm shocked at how I feel. I just had 17 minutes of quality time with the foam roller and stretching so of course, feel much better. I should probably do that again tonight, especially if we make it to the softball game. We're taking DS out to church camp again. Most kids pick one week or the other but he always does both. Those were some of my best times, too (although different camps).

Johnny, thinking about your friend. And the woman Tammy mentioned yesterday. Damn!

Great racing yesterday, Super Erika and Dove and Tamster. And the great running continues today.

My van is giving me grief, or at least the fecking door light that won't stay OFF so it drains the battery. I hate vehicles. So fluff it, I'll run out to the lakes. Beautiful day, feeling great.

Lab, at our club in Grapevine, TX, the normal weekend route is 8 miles, and each day people volunteer to put out those 5-gallon jugs of water and Gatorade, iced, so you can get a drink about every two miles. Today the Saint and I had the duty.

I stop at every station, so today that was 8 stops. I take a small cup of water and one of Gatorade. The cups are those little cone shaped ones that you pull from a dispenser, so my guess is 4 oz x 8 stops is about 32 oz for today's run.

Hally and CNYrunner have run there and know the course. And do you know that janie b good used to live in Grapevine? Spareribs

Another scorcher here today so DH and I took a spin class at the gym with a substitute instructor, who was OK. But at least his music was really good so I boogied on through it and felt good afterwards, especially when I finished up with a nice long stretch while DH waited patiently.

I won tickets to see the Santana/Steve Winwood concert tonight at Jones Beach theater so the afternoon is all about preparations for tailgating. It's a really long drive from our house but it will be a lot of fun! Concert report to come tomorrow. We've seen both Santana and Winwood before, at the Garden, but not together. The only thing that could make it better is if Clapton joins them onstage (unlikely).

Enjoy your day everyone and run a few miles for me.

No mc, I not doing that race even though it's about two miles from where I live. I've 'retired' from racing for a while. Seriously.

Hello. Wow some long hot runs today from some of you. Ribs, that is a nice way to handle the water station by your club. Lab & mcsolare are making me hungry! Pink, I am also typing on an itouch and it is pretty annoying. It keeps trying to autofill with the wrong word. Econo that is a bunch of bites.

We volunteered at the duathlon and triathlon this morning. Mcsolar, I didn't see anyone pulling bike shorts over running shorts but I did see a guy do both the bike and runs wearing a flannel long sleeved shirt. Seemed a bit much considering the ending temp was pushing 80 but to each his own. I also saw a man running who looked to have 2 right feet. Not sure how he could run as well as he was given how twisted his leg appeared. Any how it was a fun morning and then I went to yin yoga and onward to grocery shopping.

For those of you who have read the books, We watched the Swedish film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo last night and I thought it was quite good.

Choovie, I also heard the film was great. I read the 3 books and loved them. How often does it happen that an author dies after you love the books? I think of Patrick O'Brian as one example. Colin Dexter, who wrote the "Inspector Morse" series I think simply decided to retire, and that was a bummer. Then you have authors who quit writing quality books because of some deal with a publisher, so their work quality deteriorates, like Grisham. But I loved those Larsson books. I know a woman who is exactly like Lisbeth Salander too. Spareribs

Softball was fun and I didn't get anything to field in right but hit very well. PF in my right foot but I had hit it hard with 800mg of ibu so it didn't bother me. Don't worry, relay mates, I will get there healthy. After that foam roller/stretching I mentioned earlier, I did a lot of massage on the heel and calf. Getting ready to do the frozen tennis ball treatment, too.
