Maybe I'll get used to morning running after all. No music today and by the way, my point about the solarmix is that I wanted a snoozer. A mile warmup, then 2 miles tempo, then a mile back home, very easy, unfortunately focused on a call of nature in the worst way. 7:55 average pace during the tempo portion, so about the same as last week. This was a few hours earlier, and as Labduck has pointed it, some of us have higher heartrates when we do speedwork in the morning. I didn't check mine but it felt harder. Have a good day!

Morning Opie!

That video was great LAB - pregnancy as a publicity stunt and running with your shoes on the wrong feet. AWESOME!

4 miles this morning. 24° New running vest - not as nice as my old Brooks one - but great pink color. Gotta love the pink!

I think I may need a little solarmix house cleaning music today. WHen did the tornado come through here?

I'm awake! I was out running at 5:30 this morning. Depending on which weather guesser you believe; it may have been as cold as 44 degrees this morning? Felt good to run my 10 moh. Imbedded after 2 mi warmup was 2 X 3 mi at 5K plus one minute with 1/2 mile recovery between. Ran without watching the watch and felt like 7:10-7:20 and was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see 6:44 and 6:46.

I wimped out to avoid what turned out to be light rain. 10 miles on the TM and no fan. 7 @ 8:00 pace. I'm so bummed at the thought of more TM sessions coming this winter. I'll have to find my inner Erika and just face the cold north winds come January.

I can relate to the bummed out feeling over the TM, Mike. Am wanting to increase my weekday miles thru Dec/Jan and don't know how I'm going to stomach all those miles with a mirror in front of me.

I'm trying to keep outdoors as much as possible, but a steady rain kept me indoors this morning, too. 5 miles with a progression from 10 to 9 m/m over the first 4. Felt strong. As I was late to get to my office, I decided the Ferbers will wait 'till I get home tonight.

Hello to everyone! Congrats on the Marathon marathon, mari! What an adventure. I'm glad you were able to have that wonderful experience with your hubby. I've missed a lot while I've been recovering. I hope things are well with everyone.

I'm slowly getting back to running. I have been cleared to run 4x a week and to slowly build the mileage. I had a great "long" run of 5 miles on Sun with no knee aches and pains whatsoever!! Yesterday, I did a modified track workout with my team. Well, sort of with my team. Another woman returning from injury and I took it very easy. The workout was supposed to be 1x1600 (3' RI), 2x800 (2' RI), 4x400 (1' RI). We stopped after the 2 800's and were careful not to push too much. 8:22, 4:12, 4:01. It sure felt good to be out there again, and sort of a nice change of pace where track does not = super hard work.

Our club xc championships are this Sunday. I was hoping to run in this series this year, but I'll be there next fall. Instead, I'll be out there cheering!

good to see you getting back into the groove GGP!

I think I need to go back and see what this video is that Lab posted . . .

5 miles at the track last night after jury duty. 43:06, which I guess is my tempo pace, even though I hadn't planned on a tempo run. but when my 1st mile was an 8:30, I figured what the heck, let's make it a tempo.

no jury duty today, so am in the office trying to get as much done as possible, in case i have to report tomorrow.

GGP, great to see you back here and back out running. Tamster, did it feel like a tempo run? And what happened with jury duty yesterday-I mean, did you actually get called for a case?

McMillan says my tempo pace is right around 8:30's. maybe my tempo pace could be a bit quicker? I'm not sure. I'm so used to being a runner who just runs everything at about the same pace - whether it's a long run, short run, I tend to always stick right around 9:30-9:45's. My last mile was an 8:06, and I don't think I could have maintained that pace for more than a couple miles.

I sat around most of the day yesterday in the jury pool for an Att.Agg.Murder case and it was one I knew I would be conflicted off of. I worked on the case when it was originally at the trial court level. Some of the motions I wrote on the case are what caused it to come back from the Ct. of Appeals for a new trial. So, currently, it's the same case I worked on before, in its original phase. But the jury pool was around 60 people and even though I knew I couldn't be on that jury, you just have to wait through all the questioning until you get asked the question which will show your obvious disqualification. And that took about 1.5 hrs of going through voir dire before they got to that point. Alot of my time in the a.m. was sitting around waiting because counsel were arguing pretrial issues before they brought the jury pool in. So since I didn't serve on a jury, I'm still on active jury duty and have to call in each night to see if I'm needed to report the next day. They didn't have any new trials starting today, so I'm off today, but could get called tomorrow if they are starting a trial. Our county only has trials Tues-Thurs. They won't start a new trial on a Friday, but if one is ongoing, then they'll continue hearing it on Friday.

Very interesting, Tammy, on both counts. Your 10k pace is 8:23 so it would be interesting for you to do an even, sustained run at that pace in training for a PR in a longer race.

Hey all, good to see GGP here <waving>

I can't face the treadmill for more then a half hour, and at least I get to look at the ocean!

Luckily, today the rain stopped and the wind hadn't gotten into full gear yet so I got out for a 2 miler, then 30 min weights.

that is interesting Opie. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I honestly don't pay much attention to paces or readjust things based on race performances. I probably should and I know I should push myself more during my weekly training runs. I guess, I basically lack the self-discipline to do so. If I had a coach that gave me certain assignments and varied runs during the week, I'd probably be a better runner.

already stole labduck's video for my nemesis's facebook page... we've got our last race of the year coming up on thanksgiving day, although the men's and women's races are run separately. let the trash talking begin!

eta - yep, solarmix7 was designed to help me out on summer lunch runs when the temps were above 90f in the shade... (there is no shade in tucson in the summer). something really really mellow to make me run slowly and keep my brain from frying... hope they work for you opie!

Heme, irun, don't you have nordic skiing trails? If there's one thing I miss about Alberta (and believe me, it may be the only thing aside from the Rockies), it's being able to get out on the X-country skis. Best exercise ever.

just returned from my RAL. 5 miles again. This time slower - 46:21. nice even splits. 9.15, 9.21, 9.15, 9.15, 9.13.

I still got away with shorts out there, but had on a long sleeve shirt and gloves (for nose wiping primarily).

Yabut, not really practical except on weekends. With 8 hrs at work, 1/2 hr lunch, 2 hours of commuting, and a strong aversion to running in the dark (especially at the end of the day), it's hard to get significant weekday miles in without defaulting to the TM. And I'm looking at increasing my weekday volume, as my weekend LR is already too high a percent of total.

I love 8, too. That one and 6. Yep. Although mine are getting a big threadbare from being trotted out so much. I think it's time for a new solarmix. Something rocky and lively... but not quite on the scale of mix2 In your spare time, right mc?

Channeling your inner Erika there, Mike. Hmmm... that could be taken a few ways. As for my 10 miler tonight, I'm still holding out hopes of doing it outside. Hoping it warms up to zero to +5° by quitting time with the plan being two laps of the bikepath from my house, plus a trip or two up the hill behind my house. I hate doing multiple laps, and any bets that I bail the first time I pass my door would be well placed. The nagging thought of "I can always finish on the treadmill..." will be in my mind, I'm sure.

Heme, I don't have much of a commute, but throw in less daylight and colder temps and that's why I'm on the treadmill so much, too! I do try to always get outside on the weekends, though. XC skiing is on my list of things to do this winter when I'm not training for a marathon (less than 3 weeks now!!). Also Yoga. I printed off the schedule OM linked the other day, and showed it to DH. He didn't run away screaming, so I'm taking that as a good sign he might still be interested.

Hi GGP!!! Glad to see you again and hear that you're running. Be careful on the track... not good for the knees.

Tammy, that's interesting about jury duty. I'm probably one of the few people I know who doesn't mind, as long as I'm not swamped at work. The downtime when you're waiting isn't usually "too" bad (I bring reading material) and some of the cases are interesting. I haven't been on any too awful, but I suppose just one of those would change my opinion of the whole deal.

I'd be more than happy to share my music mixes... if I only knew how to put them out there in a format that was accessible to all. My latest mix is not exactly mellow, but the tunes do put me in a state of smoothness (for the lack of a better term). Long run music, I guess you could call it. Yes, even the Flyleaf track.

Erika, I think I gave you links to two different studios. Which one did you pick? There was this one and that one.

6.1 miles today in the 30+ mph winds that we had gusting here today. My slowest paced solo run in quite a while, eking it out in just a shade over an hour. Most of my slow runs have been with running partners lately. I don't think I could've gone any faster if I tried (trust me, I did try).

Good luck on your comeback GGp.

That seems to be all I have been doing the last 3 years. Always a different injury but all probably originating from my back.

I've been killing myself on the eliptical lately and today was no different. After taking yesterday off, I was a little fresher so I took started at a hard effort and went as long as I could on level 13 which turned out to be 32:30. After a few minutes to recover, I did the same distance at level 12 in 31:30. Ended up with 14 miles in 64 minutes. Tomorrow will be a travel day and I am taking that off from working out.

John, Nice run. Looks like you are catching up to the shape you were in last year!!
