Mornin' all!

I got all spiffy dressy today thinking I had an orientation session but it's not until tomorrow. Not a big deal except I had to bring a change of clothes for volunteering tonight, and had I paid attention to my schedule, I'd have known that I could just wear those clothes to work. Ah well...

Doing a bunch of paperwork processing so I have my iPod today. Random 10 is below...

Runninlaw- I think you had every right to be upset, but it sounds like the situation was handled well. Regardless of her feelings on the matter (informed or otherwise), it was bad form for her to criticize you and your DH so vehemently while a guest in your home.

Good morning everyone!!

ITA Ailarie! Hooray for Monday being over!!!

I also agree with everyone else, RIL. I'm so sorry you had to deal with your guest being so opinionated about your rules. I've had to deal with that stuff myself. I think you handled it with a lot of class.

I like your random 10 Bard!

RIL - I have a 7, 10, and 13 YO. When I am coherent, I will post a response. Suffice to say, you are right to be miffed at your guest.

Try 6 nights in a row. I wish I were kidding about that. Last night I got 3 consecutive hours of sleep, and how sad is it that I'm THRILLED about it. That's how craptastic it's been since last Wednesday... 3 hours was a major victory.

And my basement is flooded. And it's going to continue to rain all day and probably tomorrow. We need the rain, so I'm thankful that it's here finally, but my basement is not experiencing a drought, so I'd very much like the rain to stay OUTSIDE, thankyouverymuch.

And poor Shaggy is T.E.R.R.I.F.I.E.D. of the storm. My poor girl.

Well I'm just a ray of sunshine today, aren't I?

Morning-I saw someone mention pics from Missy's shower but where were they? Doing 3 of my reviews of my staff today-2 of the 3 probably won't be pleasant. So glad I'm semi done with that job now *they haven't replaced me yet so technically I'm still overseeing that group even though I work about 10 mins away now*.

Moonie-coming to SF this weekend for a professional thing...unfortunately it's there and back with a packed schedule so I won't have time to say hi.

Theia I'm sorry about your sleep situation and your basement! No fun!

As for today fun, not sure yet. But it's only early yet.

((((Theia)))) Have you tried sleep aids yet?

Today will be interesting. I'm meeting a woman from another department for a drink this afternoon. We met at a networking event a couple of weeks ago, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. A colleague also asked if I wanted to go to our favorite crappy Mexican restaurant, and of course, I agreed. So, I'm going to have to make better decisions than I normally do since I'm eating out lunch and getting a drink.

Theia - hang in there!!!

RIL - I agree with you. Avery is only 6 right now so its not like she can do too much damage in her games since she's only started reading but I think you its better to allow your kids to do things with guidance than shut them out from it and then they rebel or sneak and get in more trouble.

It's pretty gross outside, which is great for my garden but not so good for Avery's daycamp. Tonight we're going to my niece's swim meet. Hoping Avery will get the swim team bug. She's got a year to go but loves swimming right now so it can't hurt to watch!

Mmmm, ice cream.

I've tried several herbal/homeopathic/natural remedies. Can't remember what they were called. I'm reluctant to call the doctor for a presciption for a few reasons:

1. I'm afraid I'll become addicted (aren't sleep aids highly addictive??).

2. Most medications whack me out. I can't even take Nyquil without becoming manic after a few hours. Same with Benadryl. So if OTC stuff makes me nuts, what will something stronger do to me??

I've tried baths, cool showers, reading, meditating, having a mantra or mental image, making sure I don't eat or work out too close to bedtime, trying to establish a regular bedtime, setting an alarm, not setting an alarm, different lighting, playing with room temperature... I don't know what else to do.

I'm just learning to live with it. When I collapse (or worse), I'll call the doctor.

Theia- for what it's worth, it was crappy sleeping that got me to go to the doc back in Jan and I ended up being diagnosed with the Vitamin D deficiency. I've slept well ever since being on the supplement. It never hurts to go talk to the doc even if you don't want to be on meds.
A-hole alert: Didn't you get really mad at your dad(?) a year or so ago for exactly this attitude? Here's my medical philosophy: I try to cope for as long as possible, but when my life is radically altered b/c of some medical issue, I call the doctor. If you tell her your reactions to medicines, maybe she'll be able to prescribe something that may not trigger those responses. You don't have to walk out of her office with a prescription, but you may be missing out on some benign alternative that could really help if you don't at least talk to her. Asking for help isn't a bad thing. /a-hole alert

A. I thought you were calling ME an a-hole, and my first thought was, "Damn, maybe I need to hear that!" :)

2. Yes, your memory is correct. Thanks for the reminder.

IV. See Kris' suggestion and my response to it. I'll call.

If I had access to something like Ambien last night I would have taken it in a second. As posted in the fitness thread, I also had a super crap nights sleep. Just ONE and I feel uber shitty. Walking to the office from my car I thought I might drop. I cannot imagine going 6 nights in a row like that! ((((Alexis)))) Um, and it's just my humble opinion here but I think that you should call your doctor BEFORE you collapse. I mean, you've tried it ALL, with no success. It's not healthy to not sleep. It might be time to turn to pharmeceuticals. Jeez, I'm thinking about calling my doc after just the one night.

So that was my NOT Fun.

Okay, basically I'm in GoV status, so to speak. General plan is for me to try to get over to Buckeye state beginning of 2011, basically dependent on meaningful employment awaiting me.
