Yes. I am still full from dinner last night. Great googly moogly!

For some reason the whole fam damily is up at 6 AM today. Although DS might still be up. He does that occasionally. I'm still waiting for him to understand the natural consequences of feeling like crap from staying up all night. Hasn't happened yet.

I hope each and everyone of you has a safe happy warm wonderful weekend. Sick ones get well, tired ones get sleep, injured ones get healed. Go Team!!

Today's fun: Trying out my chop-a-tree down skills. This could be funny or scary. Or both at the same time, I suppose!

How was dinner last night, BigG? Hope it was a lot of fun!

(((Missy))) I hope you are able to get what you need in CA. Thinking of you.

(((Baby Grayson))) I hope he gets well soon.

Sorry you had such a yucky day, Bob and Bard.

Congrats on the teaching gig, Gov!

Happy belated birthday Kath! I hope you had a lovely day!

Happy chopping Ailarie!!!

My work week ended yesterday with me ice skating on shaving cream with some of my kids. We were all covered in it within 5 minutes. However, the kids had a blast!! I haven't seen that many smiles in my room ever!!

Oof, the boys had a sleep over last night. I was exhausted and ready for bed by 9, but that was not going to happen. Of course I slept terrible and then the kids were up at 5 am.

Eccabex - that sounds like so.much.fun!

Good Morning, My Pretties!

Today I'm taking care of things at the house that have been left to long unattended.

Eccabex: Shaving cream? Really? I've never heard of that before. Sounds like it was fun. Good for you!

BigG: DS#1 and 2 stay up all night from time to time too. DS#1 doesn't weather it well and it seems to take him forever to catch up again, while DS#2 seems to thrive on it. Go figure...

Ailarie: Tree chopping? Good luck!

Yesterday something happened that has forever changed my mind about the female cycle and its ties to the pull of the moon. As I was driving in to work on Thursday morning I noticed the hugely gimongous full moon in the sky. It was so close to the earth, it felt like I could reach up and touch it. You will recall that I had a bear of a day on Thursday that stealthily snuck its way into Friday as well? Right. Well, I wasn't the only one. There are only 4 women in my office. 4 out of 22. Each one of us had meltdowns on Friday morning. All those meltdowns were valid and authentic. I'm not trying to take anything away from the validity of the circumstances that led up to each of us blowing our stacks but... All I know is by the end of Friday, I took a look at the haggard remains of my (male) boss and wondered if he knew what had really hit him. His collegue, and three of the women who work for him had taken him to task on one or more managerial faux pas. His day was spent putting out one fire after another. Some were his fault, some were his business. Then while driving home on Friday afternoon, I was thinking about how the overcast conditions wouldn't allow a glimpse at that moon. And then it hit me! Damn Tidal pull. So now I ask, what do you get a guy who took great care in treating all the women in his office with respect and fairness when he was being bombarded by the hormonal pull of the universe? My first thought was chocolate but then I thought...SCOTCH!

Thanks! And I did. And it's extending to today. Dh is cooking one of his mom's chicken dishes that, when you make it his mom's way is really fast, but when you make it for me it (and have to make a number of ingredients from scratch) it becomes a HUGE process. But it sure is yummy.

Today's entertainment - it's -10 here, which is too cold for Jack to walk in. It burns his feet and he limps hard. So this morning was the first wearing of the boots*. He didn't resist me putting them on him, but didn't help either. And he was high stepping when he stood up. But now that he knows how much better his feet feel with them on, he helps me put them on him.

DD heard from someone at school that Chester's was really good so she picked that restaurant, which caused me and Grandma to breathe a sigh of relief because she HAD been talking pizza or KFC. blech!!!! DD got a huge and scrumptious cheeseburger. Grandma and I both got Chester's famous grilled meatloaf, which comes with swoon worthy mashed potatoes, gravy and roasted root vegetables. A yummy glass of Malbec to go with, and for dessert: DD got the chocolate cake - a mile high, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a small PITCHER of chocolate. I got the pineapple upside down cake, which also came with a scoop of ice cream. Grandma picked the best one, IMHO. It was a lemon ricotta cake, served with a small scoop of whipped ricotta and served on a bed of strawberries and sauce. Seriously, I was still full this morning, and I took home a doggy bag for about 1/3 of the meatloaf and mashed potatoes!

Kath - I used to have a weimaraner and she had red boots. It was funny. But without them in weather like this, her poor feet would get cut and bleed thanks to the ice. Crazy.

Where did you get them, and did they stay on? I'm not impressed with the ones I've seen so far. With the way Jack kicks to bury his poo he would launch the boots across the street.

Gosh, it was years ago so I can't remember. At some big pet store though. They weren't great, but you could adjust them so they would stay tight. Do you have an Animart near you? Those places are like Mall of America for furry creatures. I bet they'd have something decent.

I'm sitting in a coffee shop, working on my lectures for this coming week. A student of mine is also here, by design. We're working on being study partners so we have an incentive to show up and work when we want to be lazy. If it works for running, why not for research?

Top to bottom MY HOUSE is CLEAN!!!!!!! Yahooo! It's never this clean. Mostly because the boys live in the basement. I don't go down there for much except storage and I feel that if they mess it up, they should clean it up. Sometimes, though, Momma's gotta go down there and vacuum and disinfect the goo that is left behind. (sounds grosser than it actually was thank goodness) Top to bottom, Baby! It's clean.

Yep, we've done that. It's not easy. And then once he does go to sleep he gets night terrors from being so tired. It would help a whole lot if he would just GET IT. He fell asleep while we were out so I'm going to have to go down to the baby man cave in a bit and roust him. Not Fun.

YAHOO for clean houses! I'm going to take care of mine now that I'm done erranding.

I took DD to the library and then went to the grocery - I had planned to make this butternut squash with hazelnuts lasagna. My Mom not-so-subtly posted this on her FB page and said o, now wouldn't this be delicious. But they were OUT of butternut squash and I found that my grocery doesn't carry the pre-peeled pre-cubed kind. And NO hazelnuts. So I regrouped and I'm going to make some Curried Cauliflower and Sweet Potato soup instead.

Way to go, LittleG! I could stand to lose 50 or so. What was her secret? I could use some tips and motivation. It would probably help if I exercised even a little.

Also, BigG, is your family vegetarian or vegan now? Your meatloaf suggests otherwise, but I notice that you don't cook very much meat. Is that a key to success? I really need to re-add vegetables to my life.

Nope, we're not vegetarian. Although I think if the kids could choose they'd eat only meat and potatoes...and pizza rolls. But I'm a fruit and veggie girl so they're faced with fruits and/or veggies at pretty much every meal I serve.

I wish I could say that DD discovered the joys of exercising and turned to a healthier diet, but no, it's due in large part to a change in medication. She had been on a medication that caused her to gain weight, we discontinued that but the weight remained. Then she started on an ADD/ADHD med and the weight dropped off, not surprisingly.

Good news, DS was not a snarly animal to wake up! Yay!
