Ouchy. I woke up this morning and my R shoulder blade/back is killing me. Not sure why - biking? Lifting weights yesterday? Gah. Not sure. Off to hit the treadmill soon.

Good luck to our racers this weekend!! Clare has a race, right? Anyone else?

I skipped my run yesterday because I was just too darn tired. I think I needed the day off. I'll make sure I do something today. With a marathon 4 weeks away, I really should get in a long run tomorrow. The weather might not cooperate, but I'll do my best to get something in...

Morning all! Met up with two of my lady friend running buddies this morning for 6.9 miles, a little cold but nothing that bad. My legs woke up at some point after we were more than half finished.

Flying out to California early this afternoon to meet up with my sissies and get the Surf City Marathon & HM festivities going. Can't wait!!!

Just finished up 7 on the treadmill with 6 striders. Shoulder is still bugging me now, but it felt fine when I was running. I may have to ask DH for a massage tomorrow. :)

So I was looking at playing around with my schedule a bit. I am following Pfitz 18/55, but adding in a 6th day of running so I can get up to the 60s. I may adjust even more to try to top out at 70 mpw a couple of times. Not sure it is feasible, but I am tossing it out there as a possibility if the stars align for me. I know the 2 seasons I was able to reach that type of mileage I definitely hit a whole new fitness level. We'll see. It is a bit lofty right now. But I really would like to kick the roof off my otherwise stagnant PR in Eugene.

Edited to add: Maria - it seems like we have been running a lot together virtually! :)

I got in 5 miles last night at the Dome and then 2.25 this morning before work outside. That is all I had time for as I had to be into work by 7 and 5 is early enough.

If the weather cooperates like the groundhog says it will, you should be able to do a couple 70 mile weeks Mindi.

QOD: For long runs do you prefer out and backs, one big loop, point to point or randomness?

I'm trying to figure out what to do for my 20 miler tomorrow and I'm thinking that an out and back from my house might be the way to go, but I will have an issue with no bathrooms being along the route (and it being on visible roads so I can't go on the side. A loop from my house would give me some bathroom opportunities, but only gives me 18 miles, so then I'll have to tack on 2 at the end near home and I'm worried I'll just quit instead. I'm definitely more limited in my possibilities in the winter.

QOD: I prefer to mix it up quite a bit, but having said that i have a couple of specific out and back distances/routes and a couple of established loops. I am suprised that the bathroom issue is such a make or break for you.

I am surprised that you would even consider dropping trou to go on the side in the dead of Minnesota winter.

I'm back home after being gone on an 8 day skiing/work trip. I got one run in. That's pitiful, but my legs were sore from skiing so much.

Morning all. Tried to get in what constitutes a LR for me this morning. Wanted 6-7, ended up with 5.5. Another crappy night of sleep did not help. With the weather and other obligations, I just did not think it would happen tomorrow.

Morning. 1 TM mile, little miss evil, then another mile after. Trying to get back on track. Need to get my act together in the next few weeks so I can start really building on the miles for the half.

I didn't know it was going to be that warm this weekend! I envisioned urine icicles hanging from my hoohah.

QOD: It varies. Sometimes I feel like I need the added pressure of an out and back. Once I'm all the way out I have no choice but to run all the way back. When I'm running with someone or a group I like a loopy run.

I keep going back and forth on the idea of the MedCity marathon in the Spring. There's also the half marathon option. I have until the end of February before the price goes up. I just don't know that I mentally have it to get out there and train right now. Now that I know that it's going to warm up this weekend - perhaps an outdoor run will change my mindset.

howdy peeps.

nothing for me yesterday or today. tomw I'm taking Miss P hiking/walking in the morning, then Flamenco class in the afternoon.

Sun, I'm going snow shoeing in the morning.

I've not really been keeping track, but I've been doing pretty well in my renewed commitment to getting in some fitness most days. Better than what I was doing. Still haven't run though!

QOD: when I am running (see above), I tend to run the same 2 mi loop over and over again. Knowing I CAN get home easily actually makes it easier for me to continue (the loop isn't from my front door, though, it starts about .25 mi from home. that helps too.) I have my own potty issues, so knowing there's a bathroom at the start and halfway point helps me too.

QOD: Hardly ever do I do a point-to-point run. I always end up back where I started. But I'll do an out-and-back, one big loop, or multiple loops. I typically save the multiple loop runs for speedwork, i.e. on a track or at a park where I know I won't have to worry about stuff like traffic.

I just realized that two years ago this weekend was the New Orleans Marathon. I met up with Tiff, Nettie and Voodoo, and the night after the race, we went out on Bourbon Street and watched the Steelers (Voo's favorite team) in the Super Bowl. Hard to believe that's been two years already...

we have a friend who lives in China and he has a driver for work/personal stuff. He almost always does point to point. He just tells the driver where to meet him when and he brings a fresh set of clothes and also stops at a certain place with gatorade, etc.

I want that.
