Gah.

Not one of the lot are qualified for the job posting. It is for an SAP integration specialist, and I got one clown internal to the company who is basically in a manual labour job sending me his resume. Nothing wrong with that, but he lists his "Selling Points For The Job" (that was his heading, not mine) as "Muscle."

Calgon, take me away.

You know, sometimes integration requires some muscle. Not that that's a threat or anyting, just sayin'. Musle might come in handy. You knows what I'm sayin' to you?

No,this guy has a job with the company. I think he's trying to do some union thing with the "Well, the non-union jobs are always closed to union members" schtick.

I did this same thing last week for an analytical chemist position. We had resumes from a dog groomer and a real estate agent. The friggin job requires a PhD in chemistry or microbiology...WTF are these people thinking? Out of 30 applicants only 1 was worth even interviewing (and she already works here)and another one didnt fit this description but better fits another position we have posted so we are interviewing her for that. I thought jobs were hard to find? If so why don't we have any qualified applicants?

Many years ago an office I was working at had a position opening up, and we got many interesting resumes. One woman had worked with Margaret Mead, and another had been a lion tamer. How cool is that? Come to think of it, it was a job involving organizing lawyers, so maybe both were qualified.

Yah- I'm in a similar boat right now. I have two projects I need developers for: a PeopleSoft Developer and a PHP developer with experience in Symfony or Yii MVC frameworks. I cannot find any decent resumes after posting on Craigslist.

The COO of my partner company says he's got an account at a job website that will allow me to gain access to resumes there. I think that's my next step.

Technical jobs are always difficult to hire for because they're usually dead enders. Management jobs are much more interesting because you're actually looking for some personality in the applicants, not just a body who stares at his shoes during the interview.

Some of my more interesting resumes...

A miner who was looking for a "scooptramp" position. (It's a front end loader called a "scooptram"

A guy who taped 50 cents to the application and told me to have a coffee on him.
