I'm up, eating my breakfast in anticipation of starting a run around 7:15ish. Haven't been up this early in a while, so I'm probably going to be delayed, but I'll get the job done. It's already 80 degrees with 85% humidity. Can we say "Tough run ahead?"!. oooofth!

Mornin', Ail...you are going to be great...take it easy but you got this. When you get tired at the end, remember we are all with you!

I'm up. OK, let's see what 20 feels like. :)

Thinking of all of you today, (special shout out to the Sat Morning virtual crew) and in case I have not said it since last year, I hope you know how much I've come to appreciate your support, running ideas, and most of all, your real life friendships.

Miss ya, Voo. Glad to have known you, man. I reckon this one's for ya.

Good luck to everyone going long this weekend and those who are racing!

Another volunteer gig at the track this morning. Can I say I ran 100m repeats last night if I had to run from the start to the finish to hand event cards to the timers then jog/fast walk back to the start; lather, rinse, repeat? I probably did that 6 or so times. Too bad I forgot to wear a sports bra. (I miss the shifty side-to-side eyed smiley.) I corrected that problem for today's gig.

Good Morning!

Had my follow up with the ortho yesterday. Hammy is looking good, but I'm not out of the woods yet according to him. So, I'll be keeping it nice and easy for a couple of more weeks. I haven't headed out yet today, it's majorly storming, I'll try to get out for a few if I can later. I'm trying not to stress about any single day of running yet (I'm not good at this!).

Good luck to Baggs in his 5k! Is anyone else racing?

Good luck on the long runs today!!

There is a vote for your favorite smilies thread in the Race Director/Suggestions forum. They can add 10 more without having to do a bunch of coding, so go vote for 10 more.

GOOD LUCK & hydration vibes to the 20 milers (and other long runners) today. It is BEASTLY hot. Be careful!

My left foot & right ankle are THROBBING and a handful of tylanol isn't touching it, plus it is oppressively hot already (on it's way to 105ish) so I walked Gus a few miles instead of running. Even with the slower pace, I was drenched when we got home. :puke:

Morning all! Decided to jump into the Queens HM today knowing that it was going to be brutally warm and humid and sunny and that having the company of others and the support of the water stations, etc. would be a smart choice. I ended up running the entire thing with two local runners, Amy & Tavia - we kept the pace nice and easy and hit every single water station (about 1/mi) to drink and pour water over our heads. Definitely the smartest run I've done and I felt great the further we got in to it - was even ready to rip off some fast[er] stuff at the end. WOOT!

eta: I think that gives me 9 NYRR races so I'm good to go for the NYCM in 2011 when Duckie comes and runs!! :)

Yay Craney!!!

Go Baggs!!!

Great, great job to all of you running long - especially 20 milers for Voo - WoW!

I am debating between getting out later or hitting the TM. With my race tomorrow, I really don't want to suck the life out of me in the heat. But boy do I hate the tm.....

No run for me today since I gave my VTFU effort last night. In looking for things to do this weekend, I saw a full moon hike that will be a fast-paced 3.5 miles in one of the metroparks tonight (led by one of the naturalists). Given how hot and nasty it is here, hiking at 9pm sounds a lot more appealing than hiking in the afternoon, so I might go do that. I wouldn't go for a night hike solo anyway, so this might be a good chance for me to join a guided group effort. There is a chance for storms here tonight, though, so we'll see if it's going to work out or not.

Great running so far, peeps. Especially in this heat.

I had too much to drink last night (I'm again a lightweight!) and not enough sleep, and sweated like 10 whole men on my easy, short 4 miler this morning. I'm at the shore and there's no relief from the heat here.

I'm still conflicted about the TdF results this year.

missy - take it easy with that (ridiculously impressive) preggers running in this heat! Don't cook the <insert appropriate produce item here>.

Good luck today, Baggs! (tomorrow?)

Can't wait to see how some friends do in IMLP this weekend.

Speaking of drunk (see above), it's a good thing I can't seem to post from my blackberry on this new site -- I wrote out a drunken post last night and could.not. get it to post. ps. anyone else having problems posting from a blackberry with this new site?

Yah Craney!

My run was defnitely a VTFU kind of thing. By 4.5 in, I was thinking "Man this SUCKS!". Would have quit if (1) I hadn't been virtually running with the girls crew this AM, and (2) it hadn't been Voo's tribute weekend.

I saw it through. 13.13, actually. Ran, I thought, smart, taking water breaks earlier than I needed. Apparently not enough though. I'll save you the details, but the short of it is that my post-run protein and hydration were quickly rejected by my body. Oof. Forgot how much it hurts to toss one's cookies.

I do find it funny tho, that my first time ever to hurl after a run - it's on my VTFU tribute. Heh.

Time to take my contacts out and take a nap. zzz

Great runs, everyone. Stay cool over there on the right side of the country!

It's 65F here on the way to 93 and I'm going to save my run for the heat of the day so as to get a bit more heat training for the relay next week. I was planning a slow day anyways.

Solar, there was a problem with posting from iPhones but they quickly resolved that. Check that same Race Director forum for BlackBerry issues and post there if you're still having issues.

VooDoo 20 Run and Done! I felt really good and strong the entire time. Joe was with us today.

Yay to my virtual training buddies!! Way to get it DONE! yea!!!! Ailarie, sorry to hear about your projectile breakfast.

The plan was to run to the RAC where the training group starts, run the 15 miler they had planned, then run home. Worked out PERFECTLY.

So I ran the 2.25 miles there and then the next 3 miles solo within the group. Then I hooked up with a chatty college girl for the bulk of the middle miles. She was a really consistent runner and kept me at a slower pace, which is good, I should be close to a 10:30 pace for my long runs. She's training for TCM too and has run it a couple of times before. Her chattiness totally made me think of Voo. Then towards the end we hit Elton Hills (which is one of my regular running loops) and she said she was going to have to walk some of the hills and told me to go on ahead so I ran the last 5 miles solo as well. Their route must have been a skosh long because 20 miles ended about 1 block from my house. Perfecto!

10:01 9:35 10:01 10:07 10:03 10:19 10:38 10:32 10:25 10:31 10:33 10:31 10:27 10:18 10:38 10:10 10:01 9:33 9:51 9:33

The weather was cooperative - temps were around 70 and it was overcast, still a bit humid at about 78-80%.

I still feel really good, really don't feel that beat up at all. And the feeding frenzy has begun. Bring it on!!! eggs and toast and two iced mochas, quinoa pilaf, and an apple consumed already. And she was still hungry!

DD is sighing and hharrumphing in the living room. She's itching to get out and DO something. So I guess we are off to do something!

Have a VooDoo Day everyone. RAWRRRRR!

Forgot to mention - The Sweatvac hat is AWESOME! My wicking shirt was still soaked and sticking to me by the end of the run but I did NOT have to wipe sweat out of my eyes once! Yahoo! I'm buying some more of those babies! $10 grab bag, you don' t know what you're going to get but I don't care. They work.

Ailarie barfed post-run? If that's not VTFU'ing, I don't know what is...that is AWESOME!!

Been away for awhile so I hope everyone is well. I have been dying in this heat - not pretty. I'm tired of sweating like a whore in church and having to rinse out shoes after even short runs! And I'll spare the details, but let's just say I've been blasting through the baby powder this summer!

11 miles yday plus 6 hours of yardwork (hauling dead branches and crap away - SEVEN truckloads!) and today's 7 miles felt much harder than it should have. Tomorrow will be a suffer fest - repeats up & down a big honking hill with a bunch of fast guys (I fully expect to get dropped like last weekend). My running has been so crap lately I think Air Force is going to be just a nice steady run. I've wanted to see if I can break 3 hours and have it feel comfortable so I may have a go at that instead of killing myself and trying to run 2:50. With Twin Cities (3:10) 2 weeks after, then Columbus (3:30) and then Philly (3:10) I'd rather run AF comfrotably and not struggle the rest of the fall.

I hope Joe's family is doing OK - must be a hard time for them.

If anyone knows how to get in touch with them - maybe they could forward links to this page and the fun page to them. (and yesterday's too). I'm betting they would really find some peace and comfort knowing that we are remembering Voo in our own way.
