So.. I'm really looking for a motivational idea to get my lard butt goin'..

I'd like to do a VRAA.. We (Jrjo and I) created it and many here were on the first one - so I'm thinking.. lets start one.. we could post an invite in the "Just Running" forum - which was created by josh at my behest as a place to have the VRAA and a lighter side of running..

Just Running has slowed down significantly - (5 or so new threads a day)...

We could post an invite to here for the vraa... would that be a good thing or a bad thing??

comments, vote on the poll..

help me to get unfat and extra motivated!!!

Mox nix? That's sort of pig german ain't it?

We can't do it with the crew we have here unless it's an individual thing. But why not just do it over there? We're all still members.

Of Course I mentioned your name.. People should NEVER even say VRAA without following it with satfix and JRJO!!! (we shudda copyrighted it!!)

what are your thoughts regarding doing it here or 'there'?

It's been so long since I've posted over there - I dont even feel apart of it any longer...

Novia is still the moderator of Just Running and I see she's here, halloooo?!!

There's only six votes in the poll so far, so having it here might make pretty small teams Maybe it's time to rev some life back in to Just Running. How long has it been since a vraa there? There was a 10-weeker just wrapped up at runningforums.com, 13-people teams. I'd think we'd want to not go any smaller than that or we'd be logging miles until next Labor day.

I'm torn between that (going back to JustRunning) or inviting others from there to here.

It should be obvious I'd like to see our membership grow, but I also respect and understand the position that having membership in three forums is just silly.. and hard to keep up with.. Which is the reason I don't post at CR any longer.. The 'in-crowd' changes so damned quickly - it's like wandering around in a cocktail party in Astro Dome - PACKED.. Too many people and simply can't seem to fit in...

I know we have a lot of lurkers here (just look at how many people have opened this thread - and how many regular posters we have)..

VRAA would be two-fold from my perspective - motivation and growth..

Growth - to possibly make this a viable website (that's how I sold my brother on the free server space).. that is more than a forum...

We've been online since april. Most posts are done by about 20% of our membership.. Not complaining mind you - just looking at it from a different perspective...

Rich, I'd go for it here amd try and entice participants from CR. It may ruffle a few feathers at CR as well. We may be seen as poaching, but in order to grow we have to attract outside of the Old Faithful, so why not have a limited experience here, maybe try running Route 1, from SF to SD or From Boston to New York, something small and easy for teams of 4 or 6, make it more personal

Just my thoughts

What the chick magnet said, as I bet many old timers and new timers don't have a clue about your site. If Liam didn't e-mail me, I'd be clueless as well.

I've enjoyed all the VRAA teams I've been on, though "Dervin's Team" will always stand out to me. Sue & I went to his home in Brooklyn, where Dervin hosted a nice brunch not long after 9/11. We were all so worried about him, and none of us wil ever forget that awful time period . I know he's in Hong Kong now, but MIchael was pretty awesome to meet in person a few times. Does he know about this place??

I'm spending too much time on my bike, and with swimming drills. Fun, except for the swimming drills, but truly not the same rush. I would LOVE a reason to RUN more! I vote to bring on the old VRAA!

I would like to see the VRAA somewhere, somehow. It did seem to get a bit unruly at CR simply on the basis of size. I was a captain one go round, and it was like having a second job (as a preschool teacher )
Anyway, if we lack participants we could just make it a "group run" with mileage tally and narrative.
Whatever the decision on format or location, I'd love to participate!

I've never done it. I'll play... but if fighting occurs, I'm out.

Count me in. If I'm not injured I will be a higher mileage ringer.

a couple categories? team and solo?

Considering some here run 2000-3000 per year, perhaps some would be interested in the running individually.

How far is a virtual run across america?

Or, how about two teams: Everyone vs. Grizzly.
