I'm not giving up on the VRAA. Even if the next round has two teams with 3 players each.

I'm sorry that I didn't balance the teams better. I know there's no way to make everyone happy but I'm really truly sorry that this has caused some of you to want to quit the VRAA altogether.

What I'd like to do for the next round:

There will be Hard Corps.

Simplify - NO bonus points except for racing.

I want to implement a Gobi Sized Badassery level for the next round so I would really like Gobi to be here to take on that level. mkay? Thanks.

Again, not everyone is going to be 100% happy but I'm willing to work on this so that enough of you are happy enough that you will continue to play.

Thanks,

BigG - I'm glad you're not phased by the latest round of VRAA controversy. It's a tough job to try to make everyone happy, but it's why you make the big bucks here, right?

You ARE being facetious, aren't you? With about a week to go, about 100 points separate the two teams. With the way that some of the players are not able to upate their points on a daily basis, who knows how close the teams really are?

I think you are doing and have done a FABulous job here Big G.

Regarding balancing the teams....I'd be willing to bet that things end up pretty close..., and even though Team B is in the lead at the moment...once some of those races kick in...it might be different.

And, here's the real kicker (no pun intended), if Trailz had not been such a noob, woudl her saying she was a Titanium change the makeup of the teams at all? I think not. It's not like you would have put her on Team A...right?

WRT to a Gobi level. That cracks me up. And I think it's cool. A good way to imortalize him, regardless of whether he comes back or not. I also like a Kryptonite level too.

I think you did just fine, Jenn! I have been thinking about some of the negative comments made by some of the "old timers"/regulars. Good lord, people! IT'S A GAME!!!!!!! I understand some people are uber competitive, but come on. Don't let your (those people who made the comments) negative attitudes ruin it for everyone else! Just STFU and don't play next round. Simple as. No need for a big drama announcement.

I think people are forgetting the point- it's to motivate us as individuals to do more and push ourselves. The game is just the vehicle for that. If we can all say we did the best we could, then who cares who wins or loses?!

Jenn- do you have any tentative dates in mind for the next round? :)

I'm glad you aren't giving up the job Jen. and based on the points as of this morning, I'd say the teams are fairly balanced. Had trailz really only performed at the BAIT level, then it wouldn't be.

I agree that a kryptonite level would be good - provided that some of the work-out-aholics like Gobi give it another shot and wanna play.

yes, do you have an idea of when you'd tentatively like the next round to run?

I'll echo my preference that I made last round for more teams with fewer members. The larger teams make it too easy for some members to fade into the background and not think they are valued as a team member because there are so many others on the team. I think the teams seem more personable and make everyone more accountable to each other when they are smaller. Of course, I do understand that sometimes the logistics of who all signs up for what level makes it more difficult to do that, but hopefully next round we'll have enough people at varying levels to make more teams.

You are doing a good job Jen. I'm just sorry that your first round at this most prestigous job had such controversy. You probably feel a a bit like Pres. Obama eh?

The teams are balanced shockingly well ... and it's especially hard to do that when you've got a lot of people on each team.

This is a good, competitive round. And for as long as there has been a VRAA, there have been little tugs of war about this or that. Folks clamor for points for non-running stuff. Or hate points for non-running stuff. Or think they're being screwed by this sandbagger or that underachiever or this bonus point scheme that somehow allows a bunch of pansies to blow past their ultra-toned ass in the standings. It's all worth listening to, and we'll never be past the point where we can't react, refine, and keep juggling things for the sake of keeping things fresh. But it's never, ever going to go away, and trying to address all if it would lead to nothing but insanity. And it's always just a small buzzing noise in the background, all things considered.

My biggest complaint is that I don't know where in America we are. Maybe we should change the name to just VR instead of VRAA?

Commish, you're doing a great job! I tend to think KISS is the best policy so give it a shot next round!

I have a birth defect: I am geographically impaired, directionally challenged. That is one part of the VRAA that I don't think I can manage.

This is all about my post, right? ;)

Well, it probably won't be my last VRAA anyway. Something makes me always want to sign up. And I never said you were doing a bad job, BG. But yeah, the whole stretching thing really did irritate me. You see, I've been running successfully for all these years without stretching and I'm afraid I'll screw something up if I start stretching now just to get the bonus points. You put together the next VRAA whatever way you want. But maybe we can have a healthy discussion of what to include and what to leave out before the next sign up session, so we will know what we're getting into.

:)

And thanks again for keeping this thing going.

I was thinking about this recently on a run, too. We used to say how far we were and what cities we were going through (this is pre-online self-scoring). Every Monday or so, there'd be an update on team miles and distance. The route usually went through cities with KRs. I also remember there was a time limit on reporting points. You had to do it by the end of that week for that week for it to count or something.... This was wayyyyyy back in like VRAA 2 or something!

And on the other hand ... I've been following pretty much the same pre-run stretching routine for my whole 28-year running career [since my soccer and surfing days back in the early 80s] ... EQUALLY without incident

Which elaborates on the whole "Experiment of One" thing

I just got an extra 5 points per running day out of it
I propose for the next VRAA the following bonus points:

Men: 5 points for every time you put the toilet seat down.

Women: 50 points for every time you initiate sex with your man.

:D (that's the laughing smiley)
