I have been hoarse of and on for 3 weeks .. no cold, no sore throat really. I finally went to the doctor today to find out what to do. She advised ( as I suspecte she would ) complete voice rest for a week. I talk A LOT.. like all the time. If no one is here, I talk to the dog and the cats. I talk to strangers in the store- whole conversations.. I talk to the kids at school constantly .. ( the reason for my problem I suspect!)

So tomorrow I go to work with a note that says no talking/ whispering -NADA. I will be mocked for sure .. and little kids do not take non verbal instruction well..

So any good optional communication suggestions ?
I will have my white board and marker to use

I can whistle and waggle my finger and have the stern teacher look down pat.

It's going to be a long week...

DH is thrilled however... errrgh

No suggestions...but good luck. I'd probably take the day off. Don't mess around and try and whisper. Apparently whispering is one of the worst things you can do.

I lost my voice once for almost 5 days. The hardest part when people would phone.

This is the second time this week somebody mentioned that whispers are bad for your voice.

This reminds me of when my sons and I would wield brooms and a flyswatter as our pretend guitars and jam across the family room to some Van Halen, Springsteen, etc. My x thought we were nuts.

Bux,, you made me laugh at that one ! ... I actually led a great dance jam session after our Valentine's day lunch. The kids were Done ( with a capital D!) and the teacher was chatting with parents... I put on music and we danced around for about 15 minutes.

I had to talk some today. Everybody keeps saying "Hope you feel better" at school= I feel fine... they know it but I know they are just trying to be nice, Oh and no one really teased me about it either.

The kids are mostly pretty good about it .. but some act like I have a great handicap.. like I'll NEVER talk again,

For me, I did pretty well at keeping it shut... just came home and had some honey- lemon juice and cayenne pepper- Phew that really packs a little kick.. that feels great.

I had lost my voice due a virus & bronchitis for a week before Christmas.. so this has been hanging around me for a bit. I love the little kids in Kindergarten.. but the germs and monthly colds I have had this year are for the birds!
