TM for me too this morning. 5 miles total with 3x1000m at a really fast pace, 8:39. Tough, as expected, not as horrible as I thought it might be.

Hoping to get outside for the long run tomorrow - temp is supposed to hit 40F!

A couple of my students have convinced me to do "Insanity" with them a couple of times a week...not sure what I've gotten myself into with it.

Nice work Litch!

And good job for hitting those TMs. I was just thinking last night how I am hoping we are done with the bitter cold because I am pretty burnt out on the treadmill.

I'm not sure what my fitness will be this weekend. I had been hoping to run a 5K today, but: (1) I am SWAMPED with work this weekend; (2) even though we hit the 20s yesterday, we also got snow, so the footing out there still sucks; and (3) holy crap I have a massive head cold. :( I slept like crap last night and woke up feeling amazingly hung over - despite the fact that I worked last night and did not have a drop of alcohol.

I may just got out and run an hour easy and then head into the office. For now the boys are at basketball so I am trying to get some stuff done from home.

It is supposed to be in the 30s tomorrow, but also with 20 mph winds. Gah. PLEASE let spring come soon. I am hoping for something over 15 miles, but it will depend on how productive I am today.

Have a great one folks!

Thanks, Litch. That is actually frustrating b/c I definitely feel dehydrated even though I have been drinking tea and water like it is going out of style the last few days. I don't think it has helped that it has been so insanely cold this week that the air is so dry.

I just ran a tad over 10 miles. It was an interesting run b/c my legs felt good and mentally I was so happy to be out there. But my head cold was barking at me and my HR was through the roof (a good 15-20 bpm higher than normal at that pace). Off to shower up and get back to work!

I am with Mindi, I can't drink enough to combat the dryness in the air.

I had an amazing workout at the gym this morning - the Level TWO Cable strength glass. hooaah! I felt a little pukey halfway through, GREAT workout.

I ran 3 miles at the gym last night on the track. 1) The air there is SO dry, I was feeling parched within the first half mile. 2) I would sweartogod there were hookers working out at the gym last night. One gal had on skin tight white pants with Ambercrombie across the ass, and a skin tight white shirt with some floraly push up bra underneath, and she was wearing those rolley workout shoes? I can't remember what they're called. The ones that are supposed to tone your legs just by walking around in them? But she was on a stationary bike. It was set way wrong so she had to point her toes at the full extension of her leg and she was pedaling at a snails pace. The other gal (they were not together by the way) wore knee high argyle socks, those bunhugger shorts in a size too small methinks, and a neon green tank with a strappy black bra underneath. This girl was also running on the track so I got to see some heelarious reactions to her as she passed by.

Tomorrow I plan to finally make it to that Warm Yoga class I've been wanting to try. AND I want to get outside and run sometime this weekend.

Oh my BigG - what some people will wear for attention

So, High Bridge repeats this morning. I got in 6 repeats, with warm up and cool down, I got 9 miles. Long run tomorrow. I think I want 12 out of that.

Parched / dry air....I hear you on that. The dome is very dry..luckily there is a ton of water fountains in the concourse. If we do HARD w/os though (like mile repeats or something), I get that awful cough.

It is beautiful out. I worn capris this morning and will do the same tomorrow! Yippee!

There always seems to be something at the gym, did I tell you that not too long ago there was an Amish gal running on the treadmill in the women only area wearing her cotton dress and bonnet? My first thought was You GO Girl!! And my second thought was chafing.

Greetings from Birmingham Alabama!

I'm settled into the hotel, about to check out my goody bag from the expo. Later on, Tim has been so kind as to offer to pick me up (since my inability to drive at night prohibits my own travel), if time allows, to show me some of the course, and then I will join him and some of his local running crew for some dinner. Whee.

I am certainly not expecting much out of tomorrow. With my lack of solid training for about 4 weeks due to the tooth issue, I know this isn't going to be a good race, but perhaps I can look pretty while I'm out there and have a little fun. Isn't that the rule? :)

Hi all - just got back from a 5K/10K race that benefits one of the local town's PAL organization. I opted for the 10K; nice weather 45 at the start, no wind, and clear skies.

Knew I wasn't in any kind of PR shape, so I took it out at a pace that felt like I could handle for the whole 10K (turned out to be about 7:48) early on and maybe take it up a notch at the end. With the hills and stuff, that pace turned out to be prophetic, as I hovered between low 8's and mid-7s for the entire race and came in at a 7:51 pace for the whole race, 48:41 altogether. Somehow I eked out a 3rd place AG medal, so I'm pretty happy with it all.

Along BigG's experience, I got something of a "ohdeargawdIdidNOTneedtoseethat!" moment before the race. I was in my car pinning on my number and about ready to jog back the half-mile to the start when I glanced in my back mirror. Some dude had decided to take a leak in front of his car, run shorts down at his knees, so while no one behind him or to the side could really see anything, I ended up getting the full frontal! Yeesh!

I guess karma was looking out for me though - I found out after the race that he was in the same AG as I was; I passed him up about mile 3 and he ended up a few minutes behind me in 4th.

Nice runs and workouts folks, and happy fitnessing this weekend to you all!

just a quick trip to the gym this am for 25 min of biking and some light lifting. i'm beat after flying x-country but it's nice to be home and hang w/dd. i'm flying solo for the next few days. i high-fived dw in the air as i flew east, she was westward bound.

And WOOHOO!!! for Moonie!

Probably shouldn't have gone long on my first-in-3-months run OUTSIDE , but I just finished 9. Straight into a stiff wind for the first half; that same wind at my back helped me overheat on the way home.

Somehow I managed to run it 7 minutes faster than I should have. Oops.

Still, it was great to be outside and hear all the birds chirping. Saw lots of cardinals, blue jays, and what might have been a downy woodpecker.

7 outside as well today. Ran from school down to the ritzy part of town, around the lake and back to the car. Great way to spend a warm (for February, it's 41), sunny day with the mrs.

Oh - and Moonie - nice work at the 10k. Congrats on the AG!

It was frickin GORGEOUS during my run today. Similar to KP's weather. 40 and sunny by the time I was done. 20 miles at 9:05 pace, with last 1/2 faster. Felt so good and strong during it. Taper time!
