Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Still not running, and won't be at least until next week, once we're away in the Caribbean. I finally get to see my PT this afternoon, after he stood me up yesterday (claimed he was stuck in the wrong time zone ??, but as a result I need to cancel my CPR recertification course for the afternoon. Actually, I need to be spending all my available hours packing for our trip (doing laundry and ironing too), but I figure a few extra minutes spent here "centering" myself isn't going to do any harm).

Taught yoga class this morning, and lucky for me, I got to have Valentine's Day as my theme. Actually, I talked about how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop (yeah, I'm really corny, I know). Focus of the class was to go into the midline, into the heart, which is really our core -- just like that sweet spot that's in the center of a Tootsie Pop. And so yeah, Choovie, I taught crow pose (just found your question back on Monday's thread). Firefly's still somewhat out of my reach at the moment, but I think that's primarily due to my hip injury now. Once I'm balanced again I'll be able to effectively work that pose more and get some answers back to you, as well as attempt teaching it.

But while I'm thinking about it... in crow, you need open hips and a strong sense of hugging into the midline, which in turn will allow you to reach the heart area forward, which is the same for firefly. For crow you work with muscular energy to draw in with the arms and legs, and then from the core you extend out through the heart. In firefly you extend out through the legs and feet as well (organic energy) while still squeezing in, so you need a strong upper to lower body connection, I guess. Having a misaligned pelvis and slippy sacrum would certainly get in the way of maintaining that connection, which is probably why I'm having trouble with this pose, though I know I've "gotten it" in the past, even if it was just for a moment. My realignment appointment is this afternoon. Wish me luck!

^5 Riley on your run! It's so cool when you're in your groove, ain't it? Now if only we could bottle that feeling and take it everywhere with us in life. Enjoy your date tonight!

Good going on the 10 years, SteveP. And here's to the start of the next 10, and forever on.

Cute story ksrunr. My son the engineer would appreciate that.

((LaT's back, even though it's feeling better))

MustangSally, your evening sounds quite...uh, full. Enjoy the sleeping part!

It's a beautiful and bright sunny day here, such a nice contrast to the dark and gray rain/slush mess of yesterday. Good running to all!

Oh, I almost forgot... I gave out Tootsie Pops to everyone in class today, while they were in savasana. So here's a sweet treat at the center for all of you, in my favorite flavor!
