When was the last time you took a vacation - actually went somewhere for pleasure, not business?

For me, it's been 18 months.

My last real vacation was late June/early July of last year. Went to a resort on the Sea of Cortez for a few days. But one year ago today I was in Roatan, Honduras for an even better vacation. Last year kicked booty in terms of travel. I think this one is going to be pretty crappy. But I'll still get lots of long weekends in the Dallas area. That's for pleasure travel, but I don't really count it as a vacation.

What do you call a vacation?

We've taken a long weekend to Hocking Hills (sans DS) just about every year. But, I don't really call that a vacation.

Last April we went to Vegas with the in-laws -> this was NOT a vacation. Torture was more like it.

edited to add: the last time DH and I took a week off and went somewhere a'la vacation, was April 2004.

last summer to Wyoming. it was our first vacation in YEARS. We do go to a lot of races, but usually in and out really fast, with no time to see anything. In Wyoming, we were there for 8 days, only three of those days were dedicated to the race.

I take a vacation - a go-away, probably on a plane, vacation to somewhere warm usually once or twice a year. I also throw a long weekend mini-vacation in there once or twice, too. I'm headed to the Keys at the end of this month for a week

I read somewhere just a few days ago that Americans take less vacation than anybody else in the industrialized world. And before you come back with 'well, those crazy Europeans take the whole summer off...', I think that included Japan as well.

Crazy Americans! That one thing I miss the most about living in the US is vacation. And I take 3 weeks off every year, but it's not really enough.

Last vacation was to Nantucket with the extended In Laws (yes, it was vacation) in June of last year. Next up: Europe (brother's wedding) in May, and Mexico (with the In laws) in June.

I've not gone on for a few years. The last time was for a bachelor party in Vegas or Key West, can't remember which was the last. I haven't really thought about it much. I travel on business (will be in Vancouver next week) a few times a year and travel for two or three marathons a year. I just don't really want to go on vacation alone.

Hell, I have five weeks of vacation a year. Last year, I didn't even use a couple days and lost them.

We spent a week in Charleston, SC last July.

We're going back for 5 days in a little over a month, then for another week in July.

My aunt and uncle live there, and one of our close friends is a pilot for Continental (passes!!), so that makes a few more trips to Charleston possible.
