Morning all. Rest day for me and I was wide awake by 5:00 am anyway. Oh well, got a lot of laundry, etc. done and am ready to wake the boys soon.

Good morning!

Woke up yesterday feeling pretty crappy, so there was no LR, and pretty much nothing else either. Watched alot of recorded TV and napped. Happily I feel pretty good today, but, I have an off day today! and a long day of work ahead.

rest day for me too...ugh! :)

What's your travel schedule for this weekend? Do you have all of your stuff? Gels, pre-race food and stuff laid out yet? I fly out Fri morning, so thurs evening will be nuts crazy for me. Plus, I leave from Cincy and go to Maryland for 4 days of work meetings, so I have to pack for that too. I have all of my nutrition stuff laid out on the dining room table. Nothing is left to be purchased.

Yesterday was my rest day. I packed for the gym for tonight. I may even hop on the TM for a little bit, if the legs hold up. As you guys know, my training is always pretty haphazard. But now that I've got nothing on the schedule, I guess I'm even more haphazard than usual. I guess I gotta get to work on figuring out what marathon I'm doing next.

I still haven't seen my official time yet. The website hasn't been updated yet. I don't know how long I should give it before I email the RD and just ask if he can tell me what my official time is...

Greetings, all.

Today is a much-needed rest day for the legs. I am overdue for my deep tissue massage and certainly feeling it. Ugh.

Bi/Tri work has been completed for the day. Thigh/butt/Core stuff is still on tap.

Morning all! I'm back to my Monday routine and got 7.7 miles in with my friend, Tavia. I like that we'll both be running our next fulls on the same day in October and can use our Monday morning runs as check-ins to each others training.

Tim - I hate packing so much, I'd need to make a big ole list for a trip that included both a marathon and work

I don't know if anyone here reads Julie's blog but I thought her post following Desiree's race day in Boston, last week, contained some really great stuff. Give it a read.

Tonya - it is funny because I never used to be a morning person AT ALL. But since I have so much to get done, I have learned to embrace the mornings.

Marier - atta girl!

Timr - I think I have everything I need, but I haven't laid everything out yet. I have started trying to figure everything out that I need. Although I haven't even decided on my race apparel yet! :) So far, the weather is looking awesome! I know it is too early, but hey, I'll take a good forecast when I see one. How is it looking for Cincy this weekend? We also fly out on Friday, so I will have a crazy Thursday night (especially since I have GOTR until 7 pm too)! I am greatly looking forward to a short work week though. All four of us are signed up for the Eugene 5K on Saturday too and I get to run with DS#2. Can't wait!

Cincy forecast is less than ideal:

but, it's on the same weather path as where I live and this far out is always wrong. I choose to ignore it for now!

Hi all - not much of anything yesterday; snuck in a little bit of strength training. That plus Saturday's workout led to one soreass, uh, sore ass (well, more like right glute area) this morning

+1 on this. Prince Puckler's ain't too far from the finish line either if you want to venture over after the race.

Maria - are you running Broad Street? I am. First time! I'm still figuring out how I'm going to get my sister and myself there... I'm so used to just hanging at the 9.5mi mark

My 8 miler turned into 9 yesterday with a miscalculation, but I ran so and easy so I'm not thinking too much about it. Today was 5 easy. I'm off from school today, but got called in to work at the running store in a bit...

Hey all -

Well, I finally had the appointment with the sports doc that I scheduled about a month ago and the diagnosis is this:

He believes that I have completely torn the lateral posterior talofibular ligaments in both of my ankles (essentially the ligaments on the outside of your ankle that help prevent them from rolling over). This is, apparently, not terrible if that is the only thing that is wrong as long as all of the other parts of the ankle are functioning properly. To correct the weakness and lack of balance in both of my ankles, I am currently scheduled for 6 weeks of PT. I also have an x-ray scheduled to rule out any bone chips floating around in my ankle as well as to check for any damage to the head of the tibia? (or maybe the talus?) in my right ankle as he'd want to clear that up before I start any PT. If PT proves to be either too painful or otherwise doesn't work, then I'll have an MRI and he also mentioned the possibility of using prolotherapy treatments to tighten up the ligaments.

I've been given the green light to start any cardio activity that I want to but he suggested non or low-load bearing activities at first (swimming, elliptical) before I try running. Basically I'm free to do anything that doesn't hurt.

Either way, this looks like a long overall recovery process but at least I've taken the first step. I guess I'll go schedule that x-ray now...

Good runs to all.

Now this sounds right up my alley! I'll definitely check it out.

Just in: I received an e-mail with my bib#: 449!

They apparently have some Facebook app that will post your various splits in real time. I will sign up and cross fingers that it will actually work.

CoachT - that does not sound like fun. But I am glad to hear you are moving closer to recovery.
