I'm taking a criminal analysis class. Just flipped through the textbook. Holy Cow there are some F'ed up people in this world. I suddenly feel more normal.

Plus side, I get to do a research paper on a Serial Killer of choice. (I found 17 pages of serial killers on the 'net.)

Major: History

Favorite Class: tough call, but I really enjoyed "American Diplomatic History" which sounds boring, but it wasn't because the professor was hilarious, he wrote the textbook, and there was only like 11 people all history majors in the class. It was real fun, but challenging, and really learned how to become a good student during that class.

Sounds like an awesome class. I had one once in jr high where on the first day we all walked in to class and sat down wherever we wanted, chairs grouped by fours. That day, each group became a country, some large, some small, with a GDP, leader (dictator, president, etc). Our final grade was determined by whether or not our country was "failing" or succeeding. We got to do land grabs, declare war, declare alliances, and elect leaders within our groups. On the wall was a wall-sized map of our country and our country's holdings. It was cool.

I also had a history teacher who was a polygamist. That was interesting.

In undergrad I majored in Political Science

My favorite class was Business in Society. It was a business course offered to non-commerce majors.

In grad school my favorite class was Project Management and Small Business Planning. The class was technical enough to make it interesting, but relevant enough to make it interesting. It was all pretty much real world stuff that I got to use as soon as I graduated. I still use the text book and the principles today!

Either that- or Negotiations which was 1/2 lecture, 1/2 practicum (we'd practice negotiating tactics on each other).

I loved doing the MBA.

I was an English major. But my favorite class by far was about the Vietnam War. Team taught by a guy who was youngish and a history nut, And a woman who lost her brother there.

It was quite interesting to learn from both perspectives.

Engineering major - so lots of 'geek' classes.

Double major as an undergrad - lots and lots of 'geek' classes.

Advanced engineering degrees - lots and lots and lots and lots ......... of 'geek' classes.

Did have one interesting course on labor relations taught by a local practicing attorney. We had a mock union negotiating session one period, with some students representing the United Mine Workers and others representing a "local" coal mine. The union "reps" were all mining engineering majors who had grown up in the mine fields of the country and knew how the UMW behaved. Those of us that didn't know any better thought they had gone over the top, but the instructor said he thought they had presented a fairly accurate picture.

I majored in art in college.

I was a champion nerd in school and couldn't pick one favorite class from either hs or college. I took advanced biology, molecular biology, advanced physiology, shakespeare & greek mythology for the fun of it in hs. Off the top of my head, in college I really enjoyed philosophy, life drawing, metal working, sculpture, history of design, women in art, renaissance art history, romanticism, (I was 2 classes short of a second major: art history), corporate design, senior seminar....

There were lots. I just really enjoyed school.

Favorite class would have to be Civilization II. Probably the hardest class I had to take for my Business Management degree. Lots of material, lots of memorizing facts. The prof made it interesting though.

Favorite class that I taught was Crime Scene Investigation. It was for our home school co-op, geared to 8-12yos. Really cool stuff. We did at least one lab each week. We also had a police dog come in and do a demo.

Major: Chemistry

Favorites: Physical Chemistry/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Linear Algebra and Differential Equations/Shakespeare - all tied for 1st

The first four were life changing courses - the things I learned changed how I viewed chemistry and the body, in good ways, forever. The last one - because it was fun! And because the instructor thought I wouldn't do well in his class, not being an English major and all; but I was the only one who aced the class.

So Aire - have you picked your serial killer yet? Rodney Alcala would be interesting....
