It feels weird to jump in on a daily thread and post my workouts to a big group of strangers. ... so

Nice to meet you all; I brought a six pack of Black Butte porter and a half gallon of chocolate milk to the party (heh).

Last year I jumped into 5 sprint tri's in some small towns in Oregon. Result:

I totally suck at swimming
I can't get my wetsuit off
I can't get my bike shirt on
I can't shift properly
....but I can bike alright (yay! A use for these meaty legs!)
I love mowing down the weak and the lame in the run.

Can't wait for the new season to start -- getting a jump on it by running a 5K at midnight tonight.

Hop on into the daily thread. Most of us don't bite, and the ones that do have had their shots.

I got one mean sunburn during an Oly because I did it without a shirt because I couldn't get it on in T1.

Hey Econo! I think we did some of the same races last year. We should make a point to meet up next season. I'm not doing many TriNW races but BrewDad, my hubby, plans on tearing up the Du circuit. As Jim said, jump right into the daily. We don't bite.

Too bad you're in Eugene...I need to get some early open water swim victims, scratch that, buddies to get me prep'd for SF Bay.

I wonder how many bottles of wine I'd need to give to Bannon to get him into Hagg Lake in early April. Anyway, welcome to the warm fuzzy group a.k.a MS and I'll be looking for you in the daily.

Oh gosh, I'll never forget the sunburn I got during my first HIM ... was wearing a one-piece tri-suit that looked like a bathing suit ... didn't think once about sunscreen. Doh! It was hilarious once the race number washed off my skin ... dark red all around.

Welcome Econo !! Have fun at your race! I don't usually post on the daily 'cause I'm very inconsistent when it comes to training but I like to take a peek since I'm proud of my fellow tri-buddies.

Hey Econo, I remember you from the Northwest Runners thread over at CR! Didn't realize you were into tri's. Here's a helpful tip:

Wear your shirt under your wetsuit. No more fighting to get the thing on in T1.

Hobey, as far as swimming in Hagg Lake goes, early April is impossible no matter how much wine is involved. That's 7-day-per-week work for me. After the 15th, however, I'd certainly be up for a swim and probably a run or ride after. And dinner at your house, of course. I don't swim in mountain lakes in April just for the fun of it, you know.

Econo - mark it on your calendar. April 21-ish. Cold-ass swim w/fellow KickRunners, followed by a ride or run or just heavy drinking.

Econo, welcome. Join in on the daily bread thread. It is seriously motivating, and you'll gain many new friends and even get questions answered, and even a few you never asked. But it's all good because we all have the same goals -- and they are to have fun first and foremore, learn a few things, and get FAST so we can kick booty!

Nice try. You're no stranger!!

And at least the "old" daily thread had no standard of entry - everyone welcome. I sure hope the same holds true here - I know at least one alternative board was ruled out by many of us do to an "elitist" attitude. I think half the fun is both gawking at those more accomplished than you and encouraging (and occasionally teasing) those less so. Hopefully, it's all good natured and mutually supportive!

My regards to the boomers!

scared about jumping in. I haven't tried on my wetsuit yet, obviously no open water swimming for me yet, or no tri's. well, there was a tri about 10 years ago. it was 200 yds in a pool which I doggypaddled and walked.

I did a duathlon this past fall and my hands were so shakey I couldn't do my laces (and yes, I had fast laces), so I had to flop around in my shoes on the run Of course my dh was already finished with the race and was yelling "who cares, just go"

I'm going to need alot of help and advice on this board, rather than someone yelling "just go"

just go girl! oops, I mean, hi to fellow newbie fox runr!

mbannon, a "cold-a$$" swim on April 21st?! Oh, that sounds, uh, like a real character-building exercise; yeah, that's the ticket!

LRR, ya, I know. I thought I'd play the part of the innocent newbie (see, fox is following my crafty lead) so I can really do some damage in this forum later on ("she seemed like such a nice lady in the beginning". mwahahaha

P.S. the skirt is not my usual avatar. We are having a body part show-off fest in the old folks' forum today.

I'm not shy. The only thing really holding me back is fear of LRR dredging them up at some later date. He's real good at that.
