Every train needs a HappyFeatCaboose. Glad you're here.

6.75 humid miles this morning. Will ride tonight and run another 2-3 miles afterwards.

I didn't think that was Dean K. but I don't know who it is.

Finally got my new garage door opener working. Worked on it just a little at a time. At the moment of truth the safety sensors were acting up and it took a couple hours to correct. Problem is I don't know what I did to correct the problem. duh. Just need to clean up some wiring and get rid of some of the old opener parts and dw can have her parking spot back. I was thinking about RIP last night saying he couldn't make any money installing openers. He's right. :)

5 this morning and out of energy the whole time. 4 more on TM during lunch to get my planned 9 miles total.

KS I save my money doing the simpler parts of plumbing and house wiring. But I'll just pay you to do my garage door next time I need it.

Don't want me Bob to do your garage door. After a couple of ups and downs it has decided it doesn't like going down any more. Going to have a fresh set of eyes come over and look at with me tonight. Geez. So much for the second workout tonight.

Yes, nice racing FO!

I do the plumbing, wiring, painting, papering, fence mending, mowing, bricklaying, weeding (I'm getting tired), storm window installing and leaf raking.

But I don't cook, shop, sew, vacuum, iron, laundery, or complain (much). It seems to work.

8 mile jaunt through town this morning before the rain came. 8:33 pace, conserving effort for tomorrow's tempo.

I have business calls spread out over 16 hours today - 5:30am til 10pm.

I did workouts in bit and pieces between meetings - 3 miles, 4miles, 5.5 miles. A nice sequential day. I conducted several meetings with a towel draped over my head.

This evening I met a guy I see regularly. We came up opposite side of a moderately long hill and surprised each other at the crest. I was a little embarassed because I had slowed to a jog and was gasping with my head hanging down. Then I realized he was walking and I felt a little better.

Hi TW!

Should have run today, but a spin class was on the agenda before work, so did that instead. Still felt like I had no gas.

Will try an early run tomorrow.

Our fitness manager and I are putting the last minute plans in place for our 5K next week.... I've got the signs printed, the bibs are ordered, volunteers assigned, first aid arranged, maps and directions ready, T-shirts ordered, lunch arranged, etc, etc.... and am wondering what I've forgotten. Oh well, we've a week to figure that out.

Great job Erika. I think you have been on about a two year roll of PRs?

The race results from my 30k floated away in cyberspace but they did list the top 10 male and female runners and they had me 5th male. I am pretty sure there was another runner ahead of me as his name wasn't listed. He remembered me from the Papa John's race when I ran as Disco Dan. He beat me about the same as he beat me that day. That would put me 7th overall as the top female finished just ahead of me. This was the fartherest race I have run in 7 years and the first 30k I have ever run so just finishing was a pr. I got there early to pick up my packet and the first thing I noticed was the 4 porta potties. That didn't seem like quite enough as I thought there would be at least 500 runners. I did a short warmup run and sure enough, the line was about 50 people long with 15 minutes until race time. I had driven the course the night before and while going further into town, I noticed a line of porta-potties at a park. I headed that way as they were about 3 blocks away and had my choice as nobody else was around. After the race, I went by and they were having a fundraiser of some sort in that area. That gave me about a mile and a half warmup and I was ready to go. The course was a 15k that everybody ran together and then the 30k runners ran a second lap. I wanted to run a couple 7 minute miles to start and went through in 7:03 and 6:59. For some reason it felt a little harder than it should but that was probably because I knew I still had 16 miles to go. The next couple miles were a little faster and I got to 4 miles in 24:47. The following 4 miles were a consistent 6:50, 6:48, 6:50, and 6:47. About this time a 15ker sped passed me and I probably sped up a little. I had also been trying to catch a group of runners ahead of me for the last few miles so my 9th mile was 6:43. I got to the 15k in 63:57 which was 3 seconds faster than I hoped for. My plan was to then run 6:40s as long as I could and I was pretty close to that pace. I was still trying to catch that group of runners and with a 6:42 and 6:41 I did it. By now the group had dwindled to 2 runners so the 3 of us ran the next mile in 6:46. The pace picked up and one other guy dropped back. The runner left I was running with looked to be about my age and we stayed together for another mile. This put me at 1:28:35 for 13 miles. My next goal was to see how fast I could get to 15 miles and compare it to the race I did a couple weeks ago. I finally pulled away from the other guy as we hit the turnaround and didn't realize until later I had dropped down to 6:30 and 6:32 miles. I got to the 15 mile mark in 1:41:37 which was 1:42 faster that my previous race. I followed that with a 6:39 mile as I got close to the first place female. I caught her and ran with her about a mile until I pulled ahead a little bit. When we turned the corner with about .8 to go, I was about 20 yds ahead of her. I got to 18 miles in 2:01:43 and was hoping to get under 2:06 but I was starting to wish the race was over. I zoned out to War Pigs by Sabbath and with about a quarter mile to go, the girl scared the crap out of me as she pulled up on my shoulder. I told her to finish strong and she was gone. I looked up her results on Athlinks and she also beat me at the Papa Johns 10 mile and the Gasparilla 15k earlier this year. What a coincidence we both ran these 3 races. I finished a short time later just as the clock turned to 2:06. I ran the second 15k in 62:03 and the total for the race was 30 seconds faster than I thought I could run it in so I was pretty happy about the result.

Tonight I jumped on the eliptical and went hard for as long as I could which was 40 minutes.
