Bonus Points are the same - you will give yourself the 5 point race bonus for any of the following: volunteer, set a PR, race, donate blood, post your activity in the daily thread every day for a week...

.... AND New To This Round - gonna make you stretch, stree-eetch! I think many of us are guilty of not enough stretching, myself included. Stretching is important and will make us better athletes by keeping us loose and preventing injury. SO every time you take 15 minutes pre or post run/race to stretch, or participate in a yoga/stretching class or DVD - you can claim 5 bonus points - on top of the alternate points you would regulary tally for the workout. Yes, I realize this can result in astronomically high points racking up. I don't care. It doesn't really matter in the end if the total points are 5,000 or 50,000.

VRAA Round 23 will run from Friday August 6th to Monday September 6th.

Are we ready???

On your marks......

I usually include my 15- to 30-minutes Punk-Yoga in my daily points [Alt Workout, not Other Cardio]; do I add 5 pts ON TOP of that???

ETA, I only see race bonus on information central.

What are the other bonus scores?

since I'm an almost daily stretcher (during VRAA at least) and I do post my workouts daily and I have one race and will likely donate blood during this round, I will probably rack up more pointage in the bonus categories than I do actually exercising . . .

Lots of bonuses. I guess I need to start stretch.

Clarify one thing though:

Is the bonus for only after run/race as per your post and not pre run/race?

I just wanted to make sure everyone caught that.

OKAY!

David, I saw that too, and was about to ask, then caught myself. I think the proper running protocol re stretching these days is that you shouldn't stretch before you run. But I think it really doesn't matter, since any sort of stretching practice (yoga or otherwise) will earn you the bonus.

Or maybe it was just an oversight/typo.

Uh-oh ... we've unleashed the "Stretching Controversy Monster!!!"

The proper-est protocol is ...

DO WHATEVER WORKS BEST FOR YOU!!!

... and as Joe Strummer said: "Ignore Alien Orders"

I hardly ever stretch before I run. I always do a good warm-up before I pick-up the pace a little. Oh and I hardly every stretch after I run neither, so bonus points for me will be at a minimum for stretching. Maybe I will start?! It is a good motivator to stretch.
