I was up REAL early today, finally fell back asleep and then got up 90 minutes later to drag by butt out the door for a run. I ended up with 4.85 miles at a 9:11 pace. Just no mojo to run today. I am just glad I got out and got it done.

Have a good day everyone.

Oh yeah, Hey BBS, I saw that small herd of deer again. It was either the same one I saw last week or a different one but since it was basically the same neighorhood I am guessing it is part of the same group.

At least they aren't eating my flowers.

10 or so miles for me this morning. A chilly 64F. My legs really tightened up on me in the last mile and my ankle is starting to bother me again. Argh!

A few things while out, other than the Korean mafia hogging the path. (1) I passed a couple walking and said "good morning". They just stared at me. How polite! (2) A motorcycle cop was cruising the bike path. Never seen that before. Either it's normal or something is going on. (3) A older woman was doing a run-walk. But she was not in running gear but rather pants, jacket and big ole sun hat. She looked like Yoko Ono, pretty quick to and laughed when I said "good pace". Good times.

FB - I know how that sleep pattern goes. It seems the DD has decided to grow some more teeth, which explains all the crankyness, mild fever and runny nose. I was wide awake at 4am. Anyway, good job getting out there. No bikini runners today?

Started my day off with PT. Way back in June, I managed to nail my calf with the van door. Never been right since. Finally went to the doctor. Yep. Scar tissue. That had to be stripped. Holy crap that HURT!!!!!!!!! Couple more sessions next week and we'll re-evaluate. From there I headed to the gym for 2500 in the fishbowl. Meh... heart wasn't really in it. Later todya the boys and I will head up to Grandma's to visit with my parents who are in town.

Morning everyone,

Race night tonight...this is a 4.5 mile trail race at the lake where I run frequently. It will be a steamy humid evening so that will surely add an extra challenge to things.

FB - way to get out there anyway

RA - sounds like an interesting morning. Just never know what you might see out there...

BBS - have a good workout with those 1k repeats

Dave - nice ride. I hope someday I can get even close to those kind of speeds

loopy - way to stick it out in that humidity

Dan - you know you want to get out there. You are a runner and that trumps intelligence.

4bm - sorry about the calf knot. PT should help though even if it hurts like hell.

kevin - nice job, great pacing. Those are some good stats. You secretly training for a marathon or something?

4boys - Ouch. Enjoy the time with your parents. BTW, you were right.

Kevin - Nice effort out there. I bet your legs feel it.

Did 35 min. upping three runs this week. I feel it and the continued warmth isn't helping but I've certainly been able to maintain consistency for the past 6 weeks. Feeling the benefits of that.

Dave- Nice speedy ride

4BM- yeesh. Hows that gonna effect your training?

Kevin- I never asked... why'd they cut your race short last weekend?

Dan- Ya'll had a very harsh Summer last year right? I remember because at the same time ours was very mild. Hope that heat backs off for ya

Hawk- Good luck at the race tonight. I'd like to find me a trail race myself

My workout kicked my butt. 5 miles total. I should've held off until tomorrow to do those intervals, but I have a sneeking suspicion I'm gonna have to work over tomorow. I deff. was feeling saturdays 5K. Hopefully I can coast the rest of the week and let todays session absorb. Still not sure about the race his weekend, leaning towards doin it... weather has been bearable the past couple days, still highs in mid 90s, but the humidity took a nice dive.

BBS- The race vehicle at the front took a cutoff. Then the cop that was leading the runners followed the lead vehicle and should not have. That ended up cutting off 3 tenths of a mile.

Hawk- I have a 10k on labor day weekend and then hopefully signing up for a downhill 8k on September 11th. That will basically be the end of my racing for the year. I may do a few 5k races just for fun in October and November.

Hi everyone. I started a jog this morning, but cut it short when I found I was feeling stiff and achy. No use risking it. 2 miles total.

Back from the trail race. I trained through it so optimal results were not expected. But it's still a little disappointing to fall short of last year's time in the same race, by 12 seconds. I don't have any splits but I think I definitely went out too fast especially on a hot, humid night like this. I faded badly after 3 miles...I'm guessing that was the payback for not taking yesterday easy. Oh well.

I probably should have worn my flats for this one rather than trail shoes. I thought the course would be muddy after some recent rains but it was bone dry.

Final time 31:09 for 6:55/mile. That's exactly the same pace I ran for last week's sub-threshold workout and a minute longer. At least I seem to have that pace down pat.
