~~~~~~good surgery vibes for KP~~~~~~~
Easy 3 today, just to see how things are. Not too bad, actually. I took my first dose ever of muscle relaxants last night - just a quarter of a pill. Starting out low cause I'm a little paranoid about how it's going to affect me, and with taking it before bed (ie, dh is not home if I have issues) just want to be cautious. Plus I need to be coherent at work today.
A few more pics from the weekend:
Friday afternoon I was able to hook up with Sara Lopez, the 8th Continent social media queen:
Morning all
not to much going on in my neck of the woods. It's getting colder out and I had to bust out the coat again this morning. My office is steamy hot though so that's nice.
still kind of tired this morning. I could totally use a day just to recover from this weekend.
here is the dress we picked out for my brothers wedding. The colors are Euro Red with a sable sash and so far I love it.
Greetings, all.
Man, I could do with another day off to rest and sleep, but alas...my job won't get itself done.
Wishing the best for KP's surgery today!
Ah yes... Tonya's Margarita shot! Heh. Well, she DID ask for the large one, did she not? :)
Good morning ***yawn**
Tonya - that is a large! youch! I feel drunk just looking at it
Erin - cute dress!
KP - good luck today!
re: cat nip balls. We had one of those. It was quite the attraction when we first got it and then it got put under a couch and forgotten by the cats for awhile. Last weekend, I found it and put it out again. It was very popular but when I came back from work, it was in about 18 pieces and soaking wet so I had to throw it away. I have no idea what happened.
So, I am super tired today. I went to boot camp yesterday and I was the only one that showed up. Yeah, just what I wanted, individual attention. So I got in 60 squats, 2 min of wall sits, a bunch of upper body stuff including push ups and pull ups, etc. I am going to be sore upper body wise later today. It helped loosen up my legs though so that is good.
easy peasy recovery miles tonight!
Good luck, KP!
Love seeing all the pics! Keep 'em coming!
Ril, that story about the sign is pretty cool. You guys are famous!
Did a little lifting at the gym yesterday. Today will be a short run before I have to pick the kiddo up. I finally got myself signed up for a couple races. I'll be doing a HM here in North Jersey on Saturday. A friend of mine is the race director. This is an inaugural event, and he says he's still short some volunteers. So I'm assuming there will be a few bumps with the race. But I'm sure I'll have fun anyway. The following weekend I'll be doing another 5k. This one is at the high school in my town. So I can walk to the start/finish from home. That's always nice. Plus, there's another kid's run, and I signed up the kiddo for that. She's already excited...
Just for fun, I figured I'd bring up something a few people showed a little interest in a few weeks ago. Anyone still want to discuss a meet-up in Seattle in June 2012?
Happy fitnessing today, everyone...
Love the dress, Wippy
Brandy - I am feeling pretty good. Quads are a little sore, my R calf is tight and my L achilles is a little barky. But overall, I am less sore than I had anticipated I would be. I also have a head cold (as does DS1) and my stomach still isn't quite right. Annoying.
You are seriously hard core doing a boot camp the day after a marathon!
I am trying to pick out a couple small races to use some of my fitness on before the season ends, which isn't easy because racing season is wrapping up very quickly around here. But if I continue recovering so quickly, I may jump into the Tyranena Beer Run half marathon on November 5. That gives me 3 weeks from Grand Rapids. Not sure though b/c the course kind of sucks (very hilly first half), so I won't do it unless I am feeling 110% recovered. There is also a 5K/10K on Thanksgiving I am looking at to keep me motivated (as opposed to doing absolutely nothing for the next 6 weeks).
I doubt I will run at all this week though. Or do any arm weights or ab work. I typically gift myself with a full week off after a big race to recover some, both mentally and physically. It has been so fabulous sleeping in until 6:30 am the last 2 days.
yeah, it is wrapping up quickly here too. I am going to do a 5k halloween weekend and a 10 miler 2 weeks after that. I should be good to go at that point.
I also having living history a week after that but that is just a fun run.
Litch- I do not have it myself but my mom has psoriasis. Hers is pretty widespread when she has a flare up, so much so that once when I was a kid, she participated in a study at the U of Michigan, and was told by the researcher that hers was the worst case he'd ever seen. My sister and uncle have more mild cases. Anyway, there are different treatments based on how extensive the case is, from medicated topical creams to taking medication that works systemically. I can remember my dad rubbing a coal tar preparation into the plaques on her scalp when I was a kid (you never forget that smell). Stress can cause a flare-up. UV light actually helps calm it down. In addition to the skin patches, it can cause a form of arthritis that can be painful as well.
Best to KP and Tonya today. I hope he tells you funny stories as he's coming off of anesthesia. If you have to go through surgery waiting, the universe owes you that much, right?
I went to the gym last night for my first PT approved run, and there was no space on any cardio equipement at all, and the track was under construction. Seriously? So J and I tested out the Fit Deck cards that she bought a few weeks ago. I will hopefully get out for a bit tonight. Next appt is tomorrow morning.
There's some family drama in my world, that is likely to get very ugly. Focus your spare vibes on a special little girl, who doesn't deserve the drama. The adults did it to themselves, so they get what they get!
I could totally go for a ginormous margarita! Or a nap. I'm not picky.
I made the salted caramel pecan things that BigG posted on facebook and brought them to work today. Delish!
Haha - definitely!!
Fun: I found a pack of starburst in my car on the way into work (thanks DH!). Not cool: there are no red ones! What - how dare they make no red ones..... (it is "tropical" flavor). Boooo.
Litch - My nephew has it really bad and the doctors said good nutrition can really help calm it down a lot. So that may be one way to go.
morning peeps.
another busy day here...already researched and wrote an event brief, edited a doc, and sent out a financial rating...all in the first hour of the day!
Litch, I have eczema but no psoriasis. I know all about eczema though, unfortunately, so let me know if that's what it turns out to be.
Brandy, you are a machine, girl! Holy smokes.
Also, A would LOOOOOVE Baggs, since they're both avid Liverpool and Sox fans. heh. Next time you guys are in town, we'll def have to get together! Oh and I'm guessing the reason you found the cat toy in 18 pieces is the same reason I have to keep Trixie's high up: Penny likes to chew them up.
Happy Belated Birthday, Lora!!!!
~~~~~~~~to KP~~~~~~~~~~~

Here's a funny pic from the wedding on Sun, me and the bride whooping it up!

Here's a nice pic of me and my coworkers (the girl in green was one of the bridesmaids):

I feel like I had more to say but I can't remember now.

I made the best supper last night, one of the those thrown together meals, half leftovers, half random stuff in my fridge, but so good! Made my night. I'm going to make calzone tonight, I think. Zucchini and spinach.

Hi all - yesterday afternoon was crash out city; the lack of sleep the night prior caught up with me and I slept pretty well on the ferry, at least enough to keep me alert until when I normally go to bed at night. Much better sleeping session last night, so that's all good.

Going to try out some thai basil fried tofu with beans for lunch that I cooked up last night - however, this one has a green curry instead of red and the basil is not the thai type but the regular basil. Should be interesting

Brandy - super hardcore stuff, gal! With nothing seriously being targeted until next year (any races I run in this year would not be anywhere near race pace) I'm thinking bootcamp/crossfit style training for a few months might be the way to go before bringing back the serious miles again.

Thinking good thoughts for you kp and sending vibes to you and your family ((((Amy))))

Love love love all the pics...and I hope your days are lovely ones today
