Morning. I'm up observing some pesky data flows. Such an exciting life I lead!

No fitnessing planned today, because I'm trying again for the blood draw. I'm drinking extra water in hopes I can get through without passing out this time. Always a worthy goal.

Hope Tuesday treats you right...

Greetings, all.

The new AC unit is being replaced at work today, but won't be up and running until maybe 1:30 - therefore, I'm working at home again to avoid the sauna. I got 3.5 miles on the hamster wheel already. I planned on 5, but I hit the snooze alarm a bit and putzed around and lost too much time to get the rest done. All well. 3.5 > 0, right?

Have a good one, folks!

Beaker - hope that cold doesn't last long.

Brandy - yikes! Good luck tonight.

I was up bright and early too (although not as early as Amy!). I ran 10 with 5 x 600 m at 5K pace; 90 sec recoveries. It was 55 degrees, overcast, and simply perfect running weather. DH ran the first 4.5 with me for a warmup and then I hit my intervals, which felt great - last 2 were the fastest 2 and I hit the paces I wanted. Because I was feeling so good, I added an extra mile to my cool down (was scheduled for 9 miles). Yay - nice way to start the training week!

Amy - watch out for those pesky data flows!! <geek stuff> we have some developers here that wither do not believe in error handling, or choose not to implement it, so when their overnight data flows are all messed up, they do not know about it until the AM. Then they come crying to me, their DBA, to fix things </geek stuff>

RIL, as always, very impressive.

4 sleasy this morning for me.

In non-running news, those of you that see me on Facebook know that my son was on Kid's Jeopardy in July. Well, they are apparently re-running it this week, so he should be on again Friday.

Yay! Very cool! How did he do?

Good luck with the swim T. I keep thinking I really need to take a swim class. I just signed my boys up for IronKids on 9/8. DS1 is a terrible swimmer (just like him mom), but has been practicing. What a good boy. If he can do, I can (and should) too. One of these days. I definitely need to fit it in when I am doing much lower mileage though as it would be a hike to any pool for me (at least 20 minutes each way). Hmmmm.

RIL - I'm loving the cool morning temps for running, too.

Maria, Kp, Theia -- how are the pops?

I got a super nice 8 mile run done over the bridges this morning. Simply beeeyooouuuutiful out there! Amazing to be on top of the bridge and look out to the sun coming up over the sparkling bay and ocean.

Glad to hear everyone fared well in the storm. We're fine. Can't say the same for some inland people -- major, major flooding. :(

Last night I had a very solid run 10.6 miles at 8:14 pace with low avg heart rate (144bpm). So, that constitues some progress hopefully.

morning peeps.

Nice runs and walks and good swims to you all! Depending on what I do tonight, I might try for another short run. If not tonight (I am walking at lunch, so it'd be ok if I don't go), then tomw.

Litch, I'll dvr Jeopardy! thanks for the head's up!

((((Theia)))) and (((((Lori))))))

Last night, A and I had a lovely dinner at my place: linguine with super sweet cherry toms, basil and garlic and fresh grated parm, and greens (chard and baby bok choy) sauteed with summer onions and butter beans. OMG, so good. I just threw stuff together but it was a wonderful meal.

Then we went to this Scottish pub, The Haven, to play trivia. We were losing miserably, but in the final round, gained a ton of points and WON! HA! We were awarded a half pint each of the Haven Heather Ale (brewed specifically for them by Notch Brewing) and a t-shirt:

Success! Only two vials for routine testing this time. I've never had a successful blood donation. Usually I don't even make it past the finger stick because of low iron. I've had a cookie, chic-fil-a breakfast and orange juice and I'm still hungry. Not good.

Thanks for asking, pops is doing pretty good. He starts up his 3rd round of chemo tomorrow and gets more blood tests done so we'll know more about the levels of the protein that we're trying to stop from reproducing. My sister Jen will be with him for this round and J & I will be flying into town on Friday so we can all spend some time together and then all the kids (that's us ) will go camping and floating down a river while my parents rest and relax.

Moe - I love everything about your post. Made me smile.

Amy - congrats! Oh, and speaking of low iron, I had steak 2x in the last 2 weeks. I normally do not eat red meat, but have been craving it lately. Not surprising with the higher mileage I guess. Maybe it is my body's way of telling me I need more iron?! I don't know, but it was delish and the boys in my household were thrilled with my cravings. :)

Tim - good luck tonight and congrats on the progress! I know seeing those numbers drop always gives me a nice boost.

Passing out: I did once after giving plasma. That was not a good scene.

Interesting stuff. Turns out, my office building is closed for the second straight day. I didn't even know it was closed yesterday, since I was already scheduled to take the day off. But apparently the flooding is so bad in that town that our building is completely inaccessible. Luckily, I thought of calling in before I left home this morning, so I didn't go all the way up there before figuring this out. So I guess I have another unexpected day off today. It's just as well, since the kiddo's daycare is closed again for the second straight day. They say they are without running water. So today it's just me and the kiddo hanging out. Not a bad way to spend a day...

Now if I can just get a run in at some point...
