weights and run/walk later on...

Ran in our town's Old Home Day Road Race yesterday am. VERY hilly course...wish I had run it a couple of times before the race, but this was a last minute decision type of thing. Can't complain w/my effort given I did a hilly 34 mile ride on Saturday, but still expectations are what they are.

watch time was 46:46 or so for 5 miles.

My last triathlon of the summer was on Sunday and with no fall half marathon to train for I thought I would try something different. For fun (ha!), I just started the 60 day Insanity workout program. I'm on day 2, which is the Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It's a butt kicker! I am planning on running 2-3x and swimming 2x a week as well but the bike will be parked for the meanwhile. We'll see how it goes!

Just hoops for me today - first game in a few weeks, and 3-on-3, so quite a bit of running.

Rode 25 miles yesterday - slowish, and 55+ solo on Sunday (mid 18s).

Kind of dragging today - FFL draft down in CT last night. Working on 4-5 hours sleep after the drive home. Maybe snoozing at my desk this afternoon...

PM: One hour run, at :10, 4 x 4:30 @ 1:30 jog. Hot day out there, I was really tired from the weekend workouts, but I got it done.

Late-PM: Not sure if I am going to be able to get a swim in tonight. We'll see.

Hoo boy. I'm really behind on the happenings in LIT land. Apparently, I haven't checked in since last Tuesday...OY!

So to recap my last week:

Wednesday: 1100 m in the pool. My 2nd to the last swim of the season. I have a tri coming up this weekend but my gym is closed for annual maintenance so I'm expecting a sucktastic swim this weekend.

Thursday: 3.2 miles of intervals. I was halfway through my workout when the marching band and flag corp came out to practice so I packed it in early due to a lot of activity on and around the football field. The other track had a scrimmage going on.

Friday: I was supposed to get up early to get a ride in before flying to AR to visit my sister but it never happened. I did dream I had a wonderful ride through the desert so that's got to count for something, right?

Saturday: Ran a XC 5K in my sister's town to kick off their Labor Day Clothesline Fair. Took 2nd AG but XC is damn hard! The course was mostly through a grassy meadow and hillier than I expected. BrewDad won his AG and took 3rd OA but both of us ran a lot slower than what we would run on the road. Definitely a learning experience.

Sunday: DOR. My PF flared up post-race so I spent the day chilling and stretching it out.

Monday: 6 mile run on rural AR roads. There are a lot of big, scary, black dogs in the country by my sister's house. The scariest was a black dog that never barked but stealthily crept up on us. Then we flew home.

Today: Shaping up to be a DOR. I was thinking of trying to get a lunch run in but who was I kidding. It's the first day back after a vacation and the first day of first grade for Little BrewDad. I'm going to make special baked "Mommy Mac" and fresh chocolate chip cookies for dinner tonight.

Good afternoon!!

7m run this morning...cooler temps today than the last few weeks, which was nice. Not particularly speedy, but the legs felt a little trashed today. Looking at a rest day tomorrow or something with less pounding.
