Wow, my first post! I better make it quick before someone else hits the "submit."

Good morning all. 17F today, made it a little tough to warm up. 10K in 53:59 (8:41) was comfortable though. What do I win?

Lyndenrunner, I'm jealous-you got your Garmin already! Instead of running in the 35 degree rain, I'm gonna wimp out and do the treadmill. It's looks like the Y's open today. I think dodging the downed trees would have been interesting, though, like something Dove would try.

In spite of all the weather-related problems, the polls are open so I'll be at the Election Board tonight. We have lots of little elections like this bond issue and City Council one. I'm the chairman, which I accepted before I realized how it would mess up my plans to run NYC. I guess I could try the lottery and hope not to be accepted so I could get my automatic later. Many of you know I tried the lottery this year and didn't get in.

Greetings, ladies & gents.

I like compression gear. It's not just for your bottom half!

The theory is that the loss of several posts yesterday was due to the hosting company moving the site to another server in order to support the new running log (in beta testing now). Or it could be sympathy data loss for the impending CR overhaul.

Gordon is now lost in the world of GPSinsanity. Maybe you should ask Hup to work his magic and yours too will be delivered Opie

Thanks again Hally... You are the younger better looking twin...

Tried out my new toy this morning...5 miles at an 8:06 pace...trying not to burn it out on the first run .

Opie,My Garmin was shipped from Edmond,OK...I would have thought that would be local pickup for you

KarlOpie - Mrs hup's Garmin came last week .... Costco, right? As Lynden said, they shipped from OK. I'll use the trmendous influence that I possess here at UPS to get that to you toot sweet
BTW, the trail shoes worked great on Saturday. I was expecting mud, but there were exactly 3 puddles on the entire course. However, the recent rain really did soften up the trail to just about perfect consistency.

caddis, I was going to moan about 32F freezing fog .... never mind

Anyway, since I wanted to be home when my daughter drove away at 6:30, I split my run today. 5 miles easy, load her birthday stuff in her car and see her off, then another 5 at tempo pace. The cold had me feeling pretty stiff and slow, but at least it got done.

Take care, all
What's this about losing posts yesterday? I must've missed something.

Today is my DS1's 24th birthday so I'm feeling rather introspective today. After 24 hours of labor and a near disasterous delivery I am so incredibly grateful everything came out fine. He's been a great kid and has turned into a fine young man who is in the middle of his first year of being a school teacher. I posted this on CR and feel inclined to share it here too. Hope you don't mind. He's 4 in the picture. Check out that attitude and spunk! Oh, I ran 3 miles on the TM followed by 30 min of intense core work at the gym. My normal workout schedule is a tad messed up this week.

Happy birthday to HoovieSon. My son is also having a birthday today - he's 8. My husband and I are joining him for lunch at his school and then taking him out for his bday dinner tonight. And we saved one of his presents for him to open today (his party was Saturday). He's getting a Pirates of the Caribbean chess set. He loves playing chess with DH.
I posted a pic of him as a baby the other day - so today I'll post a recent pic of my good looking lil man:

Our son wanted to hear a bit about his birth story, so like you cheryl, we were going through the timeline of different things - funny how you can remember exact times and different things that were happening while in early, middle and hard labor. It may have only been momentary glances at the clock but those exact times and what was happening are just not forgotten.

I did 6 miles on the TM last night and some ab work. Saw John as he was heading to yoga class to regain his peaceful zen state.

Welcome IrunMike, thanks for starting things off.
Nice pic Choover, I've got a boy the same age.

It's going to be a record high here @ about 70*
I'm feeling much better today after being alittle "fogged in" yesterday.
I finally had the energy to run, but wasted it all on XT about dark.

The Training Bag concept that MS came up with yesterday is shear genius.
Plain bag -for recovery pace, cut eyeholes for marathon pace, add nose cutout for HM, and so on.

Today I ran 4 Mile @ recovery and a half on grass barefoot at M plus :15
You don't realize how much shoes weigh until you run without 'em. Plus 20 min XT
It took me almost as long to massage the kinks outta my calfs as it did to run.
I might sneak in a bike ride about dark.

OK Enke, I'm off the Mt.

may all your socks be warm and dry.
hey, did anyone hear the freedom of speech show on npr this morning? had to bail half-way through.

0445 48f raining
12.5 w/4x1k (200m) 4:08 avg

just a miserable run with mediocre results. stomach cramps on and off, track pals were all no shows. best part was when i left the bike path on the busy street, since there was a bike headlight coming down it, and in the dark stepped into a shin deep cold muddy puddle. tripped on the rocks at one point and got a little owie on my hand. the marathon will be easy compared to this one. celebrated with a 3 hour nap.

my recollection, senator, is that things were going along just fine, until flying finn had to bring up meteors, and got us all in trouble...

I'm headed downstairs for a TM run right now. The kids are home from school today due to overzealous weatherpeople...once again jumped the gun. We were supposed to get a sheet of ice followed by 3-5" of snow. We got very little ice and the snow amounts to about 1".

I called my mom in KS, though, and she's socked in. No electricity since 11:00 last night and they've got about an inch of ice; it's still coming down. I'm concerned that she'll be without heat for days. (She has gas heat but, like us, has an electric ignitor or something...needs electricity).

Tomwhite, you can always pair the compression shorts with ordinary shorts. I wear them and probably should be more modest, but am more concerned about comfort than what I look like. I'm sure my appearance scandalizes some...

Cheryl and Tammy, happy B-day to your sons! (Pat yourselves on the back for what good mothers you are.)
