Okay peeps. Here is day one of just one fun/run thread. Tell us what you've got.

I am envisioning AK's first steps and the whole fam in a heap. That makes my heart smile on an early Tuesday morning.

Not fun: it is crazy warm and humid again this morning and I have 9 miles on tap. I am willing myself to get moving as we "speak."

Happy Tuesday.

G'morning, all!

Missybabe - Yes, several of us do go back to the previous night's posts to read anything that comes in late :) So happy for AK's little steps! Hope we have some video soon!

Pippin may have taken a turn for the better. I gave him 1 oz of chicken-n-rice for supper last night. (He was quite verbal about wanting more), and I believe he kept it all down. I say believe (sorry that this is gross), because this morning he alerted me to a spot in the bedroom where he'd apparently puked. However it was 100% dry, which in this heat/humidity, I seriously doubt happened overnight, so it's likely something from the previous night that I missed. He got 3oz of chicken-n-rice this morning for breakfast. Hopefully that stays in him as well. I hate it when my puppies are sick and I don't know how to make them better.

I have hopefully 5M on the tm tonight. Hopefully because for the second night in a row, I've woken up with an area just outside of my right knee (inner side.. around 9pm on a clock if you were to stretch a leg out in front of you) that feels bruised.. right on a little bone too! No idea how I'm aggravating that in my sleep, but ouch! Hopefully movement today + advil will do the trick.

Have a great one today, folks!

Yippee for baby steps for AK and dry puke for Pippin!!

Ran 3 miles after work and then did Level 3 Shred. I must admit I was a pile at the end of it all.

Light speed work tnoight.

QOD 1: what is the one thing that makes you smile but you think other people would think it is pretty insignificant or weird?

QOD 2: if you could eliminate 1 thing you had to do every day, what would it be?

Yay for AK!

It looks like Tropical Storm Emily will pass to our south. But we'll still get winds and rain, just not a hurricane. Not exactly the weather you want for a beach vacation, but I guess it could be worse...

I just ran from our hotel to Point Udall, which is the easternmost point on St Croix, and thus is the easternmost point in the United States. So I stood there for a few minutes just starting out at the ocean, then ran back. I think it was pretty cool that at that moment, I was farther east than any of the other 300,000,000-plus people that are in the U.S. now. I get geeked about stuff like that...

All in all, the run was about 7.5 soupy, hilly miles. I think I need a nap now...

QOD1: I'll have to think about it to come up with a good one.

QOD2: Going to work. Does that count?

Hey everyone! I am back from my 9 miler. It was another sweat fest, but I just took it easy and didn't worry about the pace. I was going to try to add a 4 mile tempo is, but that just wasn't going to happen in this weather.

Ailarie - hope that knee feels better soon. Glad Pippin is on the upswing too.

QOD 1: DH sends me e-mail SMOOOOOOCHes every day and that always makes me very very happy.

QOD 2: Blow drying my hair. It sucks and takes forever. But I really can't eliminate that from my day unless I chop it all off which I am unwilling to do.

Hi all - I might need a search party to come after me; it's going to be one of those kinds of days at work for sure.

If I survive, I plan to go out for a run after work - maybe four miles or so?

Missy - YAYAYA for AK!!!! Now comes the fun of chasing her around your abode

QOD1: The exasperating things my dad does at times - despite whatever may come up, it's all good

QOD2: Like Brandy, my commute time - even an extra hour out of that morass would be so useful

Not fun: DS#2 was really naughty this morning. Really naughty. He actually HURT his brother in a stupid fight. Frustrating. But when it was all unfolding before me, I totally realized (duh) how stressed he must be right now. I am NOT saying I condone his actions at all, but I realized how hard it must be on them to have my cousin/childcare provider leaving soon. Yesterday they actually helped her move and it must have been crazy moving her out of the place they've spent so much time with her. We've had tons of people in and out of the house for interviews and every night this week we have "trial" babysitting runs with our top contenders. Last night we had our first person over. They may not even realize it, but I bet they are way more stressed than we are over the changing childcare issues (and we are pretty stressed about it). DS#2 had a super hard time when I first went back to work and he had to go to day care. This will be similar given how much he loves and trusts Megan. Bleh. I guess DH and I just need to make sure we communicate with them well over the next few weeks and realize what a loss it will be for them. Anyone have any sage advice on how to make this easier for them?

I didn't get a run in yesterday but I replaced it with a 3.25ish mile walk around the neighborhood after supper. That might be the better way to start anyway, just getting in the habit of getting outside and moving after work a few days a week, and then pick up with the running in a few weeks.

Fun today will be my volunteer gig. Not sure what today's activity will be, but it should be fun.

QOD 1: volunteering at the hospital. I have never left without a smile on my face from doing crafts or music or whatever with the kids. Also, the music links that Moonie sends me from time to time. I would be in such a rut musically speaking without him.

QOD 2: waking up alone.

6.3 miles for me with 8 hill sprints at the end...temp was better today but the humidity was up there, plus it looked like it was going to pour rain any second. Luckily stayed dry, well no rain, I was soaked.

QOD 1: not sure...

QOD 2: putting in my contacts. But I'm leery of lasik.

Kath - most likely will be heading to Cincy on Thursday and back to GR on Sunday. Up for a visit?

Afternoon all! I had a busy morning trying to pack and give Dillon his treatment before heading into the office and thus any running got pushed. I may be able to get a short one in this evening after I arrive in STL. Dad's next chemo treatment is tomorrow-Friday and I'll be with him for this one; looking forward to helping him and my mom and anyone else as much as possible while in STL.

Yay for AK!!!

boB - glad to hear you all are OK! The run sounds cool, I've had a similar feeling when running out on the easternmost point of the North Fork on LI

Sorry Mindi, I don't have any advice but hope DS2 comes around

QOD 1 - riding the train w/the super friendly subway conductor, he's so positive and always wishing everyone a good day and to be good to yourself and others. A simple message but always a great way to start the day!

QOD 2 - sometimes it's showering, honestly. Such a production esp, as Mindi has already said, if you need to blow dry hair ...blah blah blah.

Qod 1: Happy beady puppy eyes staring at me. those who are animal lovers understand, but my two little ones, although they irritate the snot out of me at times, can do the simplest of things to bring a smile to my face. Also, being accompanies on a run (or mowing grass, as was the case this past weekend) by a butterfly or dragonfly is pretty cool.

Qod2: (a) I'm borrowing RiL's answer - blow-drying my hair. I actually considered chopping it just two days ago, because although I love the length, I'm getting tired of the hassle! (b) borrwing Bob's answer - going to work! Don't get me wrong - I actually have it pretty good here. I'd be much happier if finances weren't an issue, where I wouldn't have to work and could work with a canine therapy dog to visit children's hospitals and nursing homes. t

KP - Lasik. Some people have had fabulous results. Others (and apparently more are being reported), like myself, have side effects that are pretty severe. If you can basically get around without your contacts in the case of an emergency (house catches fire in the middle of the night, etc), I'd avoid lasik. That's just my two cents from someone who has been there, done that. :)

RiL - wish I had some good words to offer as advice. Being an only child who hasn't had kids, I'm not very educated in stuff like this. Good luck!

Strong vibes to Papa Pfeiffer. Have a good trip. It will no doubt be difficult, but it is fabulous that you can go.

Lasik - my BIL had it and LOVED it. Can see perfectly now. DH can't get it because his eyes are too bad and they say he is at risk of needing glasses/contacts even if he does it. What happened with yourss Ail?

That's a hard one, RIL. When DD1 is stressed, she gets very verbally aggressive. Hopefully, your other DS is okay. Just listening to her and reassuring her usually help my DD. And lots of hugs! Good luck to you!

Glad Pippin is on the mend!!!

QOD 1: The smell of Pine Sol. Yeah, I'm totally weird!

QOD 2: The ever-popular blow drying my hair. I wish I could pull of a pixie cut, because I am so done with my hair!!

5-6 miles tonight with some speedwork thrown in for good measure.

Me too. Especially the orange/citris pine sol.

In case you missed it, Duck had another good suggestion in yesterday's thread, which was to consider a name change for this forum group. I have actually thought about that many times myself as it doesn't really fit our group right. What do you all think?
