Greetings, all!

Labduck, how cool! As you know, your fitness will return quickly.

Way to go, Rinda!

tomwhite, glad you found what works. I'll leave the profanity to Labduck, too.

choovie, sorry about the annoying parts of your adventure, but it seems like there were some big positives too. Don't make any big running decisions until you recover (physically and otherwise). Ya gotta do what will keep it fun.

Never started a daily.

Choov, I loathe those types of situations. But at least you got to run in some pretty country. Now let's figure out this GI issue. No need for pain. Thanks for sharing.

Good morning all. My leg is starting to feel a little better and I'm not limping as badly. Today I did 10 girly pushups, 24 bench presses, 24 lat pulldowns, 50 crunches, a long pulley thing for upper back, and a twisty thing for my waist. I also did this assisted pull-up thing. I don't know the names of all the equipment. Also 20 bicep curls with 8 lb weights.

Susan, who'd prefer to be running.

Thanks Mill,

I recieved Running Tough in the mail a few days ago. I was afraid to open it at first. Thought I'd hurt some thing just reading. It's a recipe book of custom running workouts developed by elites. A warning in the intro reads to the effect "Don't try these at home, to be used under the guidance of a trained professonal. Dilute per individual ability."

Its pretty interesting stuff. I'm just trying to grasp theory mainly --using a lot of water.

Interesting thing from Sunday. I was out there for about 8hrs with only 5-800 calories. And not totally wasted at the end. But I took more S-Caps than usual, though I was getting a little dry at the end.

Dr says no cardio for 3 weeks (2 more to go). No rowing, stair climbing, elliptical, walking, cycling, etc. I've heard there's an arm thingy, like an arm bike, somewhere in my gym and I'll search that out. But at least I'm getting to the gym to do weights almost daily so that's better than nothing, right? Hopefully I'll be at least back to walking & rowing fairly soon. Especially rowing -- you can really work up a good sweat there.

Okay guys, I'm done with the profanity thing. I just had to try it once to see what it was like. Hmm, where have I heard that before?

choovie, what a bummer about your experience at Bizz Johnson. It really makes you wonder why the RD does this race when he obviously does not enjoy doing it, and appears to be incompetent too. On a personal note, I've always respected and admired your approach to running and racing. I always felt you balanced it perfectly. Like you, I love the idea of doing destination half marathons with my spouse. It's a great way of seeing parts of the country and interacting with some great people (i.e., runners) that I normally would never do. I wish you the best on whatever decisions you make regarding your running future.

Cheryl, I read your RR. Sorry your race ended in such chaos.

Woohoo, tomwhite discovered the Nordictrac! I hope it keeps you sane, tw.

Riley, it sounds like your a little less blue these days.

Absolutely great news on Lab's return to running last night! Here's hoping you have a smooth transition back and the foot behaves:

No running for me today. I'm planning to swim this afternoon...I'll report back then.

I don't think I'm ever going to race again. The hangers-on have a much better time, as we may indulge in food, drink, and carousing without having to manage liver glycogen stores and go to bed early.

I personally hauled SS out of Powell's on Monday morning, after which we found her the most darlingest hat, and I was only saved from this jacket by the fact that they had it in sizes 4 (too petite) and 12 (much too big).

Labduck, I'm beyond delighted to hear that you had a successful first outing. May your foot continue to behave itself.

I had a bad run Friday before the Portland trip; ran Saturday with the marathoners who were shaking out pre-race; ran the last 10km of the race Sunday and got a little chilled afterward, what with standing around in the drizzle for an hour wearing little other than a tutu, feather boa, and Pank hair; and then ran the lovely waterfront for an hour yesterday morning. I'm supposed to put in a hard-ish run with plyometric goofiness today, but I feel run down and will probably just take it easy instead. The weekend didn't make my cold any worse, but nor did it make it any better.

Whenever SS surfaces, she is bound to tell tales. I'll say it right now: lies, all lies.

5 1/4 miles in the woods at a zippy pace. The top of the foot didn't hurt . It may have been the montrails, they're like running in slippers.

Congrats to Lab and Rinda on their successful returns. Rinda, I guess we'll be running the Pioneer 5K together now. Hopefully you already have a skirt to wear for my inspiration.

MS - it's too bad that band across the way couldn't have coordinated their rendition of "Sekrit Agent Man" with Souci's arrival at the station. They didn't miss by much though.

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of SS
